I'm on a high I'm on a high
and there's nothing more to it
I have the sun, it's a star
why should I refuse it
and there are so many reasons I could give you why I should be down
there's not enough money or time and my love you're not around

The twins stood in shock. One looked at Two, and Two looked at One, their faces rarely showing emotion were now quite exasperated.
The door sealed with a hiss, and her Lady L spun to face the elevator at the end of the hall. Her boots snapped like angry machinery on the marble floor as she passed the late Merovingian'ficefice. She was absolutely fevered with anger. It rolled off her, one of the four agents whom the twins had not met yet jogged ahead to walk just before and to the left of the girl. The other three quickly moved into position behind her, and the dog sauntered up trotting happily by her side, blissfully unaware of the terseness that had closed on the others in the long hall. Mouse and the Agent Smith filed in behind the other three agents, and Mouse motioned briskly with two fingers for the twins to follow.
The leading Agent pushed the elevator button, and the lift doors opened. Although the elevator was rather small, the all seemed to fit in with room to spare. A trick of special manipulations in the Matrix no doubt.
"Lady L…"
Mouse was silenced by a particularly rancorous glare form Her Lady. The rest of the trip down and through the lobby of the sky scraper (the Merovingian had been quite proud of that particularly handy bit of programming) was spent in equally ear splitting silence. Now all the people had returned to the hustling of the building, but no one seemed to notice the group pass through the lobby, and approached a waiting black limousine with iridescent lime and blood windows. The twins liked all the matching, it fit their personalities. The Agents whom had called for the elevator came around the front and entered through the drivers seat, while one of the three others held the passenger door open for every one else, even the dog. Once in he shot the door softly and vanished into the seat next to the driver.
//Well the cats in the pigeons now//
//No wonder she is callhe Dhe Devil, she's got her Alan's in a twist. Did we see how fast her moods changes?//
//Yes we have noticed, we must be weary of that. What do we make of how Smith spoke to her?//
//We make nothing yet, assumptions can be dangerous. We should stay low until we know how the field lays//
Lady L slipped her glasses off her face and tucked them in an inner pocket of her jacket. Instantly her face seemed softer, and she breathed a sigh of relive. Her eyes fell on the twins and her smile was brilliant once again. However, her face still showed the diastase at how the afternoons events had progressed; she portrayed her emotion with rock solid clarity, though the Twins did take the risk to assume this was as much and act as any thing else.
She glanced around at the faces that surrounded herhat hat the hell was that, I have never seen a more poorly planned, poorly executed event in all my life! I'm sorry for my hostility gentleman, but I am quite displeased. We might as well have been skipping through daisy field for all the image we portrayed out their." She turned to Mouse and the lanky boy seemed to shrink down a bit. "Write this down." He straightened back up, glad to be spared a violent tongue lashing, and quickly drew out a note pad and pen. When he was ready L continued "Send someone out to shot Agent Brown in the head, while he's still at the Agents headquarters to force a defragment and reload, tell him its from me and that he next time the mainframe pulls some shit like that I better damn well be informed about it." Her voice had risen just a fraction towards the end of the line, and one of the unnamed looked a bit ill at the mention of forced defragmentation.
Then she turned to the twins with a questioning look on here face. "Cats ands Alan's, eh? You two must be British. They never bother to tell me these things."
One and Two visibly paled, well at least as much as was possible for them to do so.
"Sweet heavens, she can here us." One moaned.
"If there is a heaven in this place, it would have to be the Mainframe, trust be I have been there its no fun. You'll have a wicked better time in hell. Oh, and don’t worry I only know what you think because your thoughts are code as well. Once were in the real world your conversations will be private again."
"We will still be able to speak in the real world right? If our thoughts are code how will we communicate?"
"You will do more then think to each other, you will be able to faze as well, and you will mostly likely learn other skills." Again her voice raised juts a fraction of a decimal but it was clear she was exited about the prospect of what is was the twins might be able to do. "Master Fish can change the form of objects in his hand, Master Xiao turns into a 35 foot winged reptile, and Mistress Lev has the uncanny knack to change her form. I am most excited to see what skills you two most have."
Her gaze moved down to the next face in the long car. It was Smith, and something in her face ticked when she turned to him. He was the person she was really mad, at least that’s what the twins perceived. She could almost visibly be seen to hold her anger back, and Smith's eyes could be made out growing just a bid wider under the dark glasses.
"I will deal with you in my office later."

By the time they had reached their destination it was night. That was odd they had entered in the afternoon and it seemed like they had not been in the car for more then a few moments.
//We most have gone to a different time zone//
One nodded back.
The agent in the passenger seat stood outside holding the door open. They all climbed out and resumed the rigged formation they had bee in the hall. Smith, Mouse and the Twins walking a respectful distance behind the three Agents.
It was a dance club the Twins noticed, although they had never seen it before. //The River Lethe, how appropriate drink the water forget all you know.// The place was a rather square industrial building that had been painted black, a lime green sign lit one wall "The River Lethe" it proclaimed in 5 foot high scrolling neon letters. It was lit from behind in red back lights. Two grinned at his twins, they were starting to really like those colors. A few palm trees graced the buildings front and these were lit by flo flood lights. The night was humid and sticky, but a breeze blew and misting machines around the buildings perimeter kept it both cool and in an eternal fog stained greed from the flood lights. The effect was amazing and the whole night seemed to pulse with the bass rhythm that seeped through the cement.
Their was a line at the door, mostly humans who wanted in. To bad this place was programs only the twins muse. A scrolling J
was lit at the bottom of the sign, a clear sing at least to programs that humans were not welcomed. One of the agents had drawn a gun and was chasing the humans away from the door. "Filthy things" he spoke under his breath. Mouse seemed not to notice or care. It was hilarious to watch the bouncer. At first he was the Agents and scampered to hit the panic button. Then he saw Her Lady, and it was a tossup which had terrified him more. The lesser program fell to his knees with his head bowed and L passes him with out batting an eye.
The leading Agents pushed the door open for her, and the crisp acrid cut of the music seemed to wash over her. Her eyes danced into life, and her breath caught on her lips. The thriving dance floor was quickly dyeing as all eyes turned to face her. She nodded to the rouges and exiles and walked through the parting crowd. Her hand rested on the DJ's booth and a man stood and bowed is head to her. "Good evening Pan, how's your flock today eh?" the man named Pan smiled back to her.
"Well they did seem quite well until you arrived, now I think their just struck dumb."
"Well then tell them not to fret were just passing through. And why don’t you play them one of my favorites Pan?"
He nodded and a new track started up.
The twins hadn't hear this one before, but it had a clean edge to it and the club patrons seemed to be quite happy to dance to it. She strode off again to another room behind the main body of the club. It was a red painted room with a black and white granite tiled floor. A oversized painting by Morris Lewis hung on one wall, its bright streaks on pale white canvas was a welcome punch in the room. A tall reception like desk stood at one end but no one occupied in at that moment. A few papers cluttered around the black top and a slim laptop was left on, facing the center of the room. The lead Agent punched in a few lines that Twi Twins could not see and a metal door they had not noticed before opened. The frame was very thick at least a foot deep and the light coming from it was very bright.
Lady L replaced the sunglasses onto her face, and turned her gaze to the twins.
"Welcome to the Red Gate. You walk through that door and you enter the real world, with a real body. You will be able to enter the Matrix again as you please but never again will you be able to back to your old life. Although I do doubt that you will ever want to. Are you ready?"
Two reached his hand out and caught hold of One. One wanted more then any thing to kiss Two's soft and hesitant mouth, to reassure them both. However; they settled for simply squeezing their hands together, drawing strength. Together the tuned to L, to the devil. Together they nodded, unsure if they were signing away their souls.
