"Jack," Will started, gaining the attention of the pirate captain, "I can't be your friend any longer."

"What was that?" Jack drawled out slowly, turning over the concept in his head.

"I have been thinking and," Will started then sighed deeply, "This cannot continue any longer, we can't be friends anymore."

This might come as quite a shock
But I've given it a lot of thought
This thing that has come between us can't be ignored
I have taken all I can
This is where its gotta end cuz I can't be your friend anymore

Jack made a move to talk but Will hushed him with a wave of his hand, an action he had picked up from the man before him in the few years they had known each other.

"We've been through a lot, I know. I've always been there for you. All those nights you've shown up in the middle of the night with some notion to sail halfway around the world from some bit of treasure." Will moved to stand right in front of the older man and grabbed his shoulders. "You need to understand, I didn't plan on this happening, but I just can't be your friend anymore."

And I can't be accused of not being there for you

I hope you understand, this wasn't in my plans

Jack looked up into the deep brown eyes of the younger man that held him fast. Will looked so upset, why was the lad doing this, it didn't make sense. Jack once again opened his mouth to speak his peace but Will stopped him again, this time with a heartfelt embrace. Jack's breath caught in his throat. Will pulled back, a bright smile out of place with his sad eyes.

"I owe you more of an explanation then I've given." Will looked down, studying Jack's boots for a moment before locking back with Jack's eyes with renewed determination. Jack only had time to wonder just what had gotten into the boy before Will's lips pressed to his in one quick motion.

Jack's world was spinning as Will finally pulled away. Will's hands dropped from their place on Jack's shoulders as Will turned his back on the pirate.

"You should return to the Pearl." Was all Will could get out as tears silently fell from his closed eyes. "I don't think I'll be wanting to stay here any longer."

Jack was at a lost for words. How does one respond to a situation like this, what was he going to do.

"Will, I..."

"Jack," Will turned and Jack looked up at the broken man before him, "I can't take it back Jack, and I wouldn't if I could. I know how I feel, nothing can change that. Please," Will hugged the captain again, "I can't be your friend anymore."

So baby now it's up to you
Do I win or do I lose?
Will my heart fly or lie broken on the floor?

Jack turned from the boy and took a few steps toward the open door. Will's eyes sank back to the dirt floor with each step just as his heart sank deeper into his chest as the sound of the door closing filled his ears.

Will wrapped his arms around himself and let out a sob. He really left. Jack had really left. Tears fell freely down Will's cheeks.

Two strong arms encircled Will and a pair of lips found their way to Will's neck in a soft comforting kiss. "I could never leave ye." Jack's drawl filled Will's ears.

Will nearly jumped out of his skin. "Jack!"

"Shh, luv." Jack hushed the startled blacksmith with a deep kiss.

"We can't be just friends anymore."
