Howard stared down at his supper as the world continued not to come to an end. It was just after nine PM, twelve hours after he destroyed his own wedding and quite possible lie life he'd always known in the process. In twelve hours more, the rest of the town would be assembling for a graduation he was no longer welcome to attend.

An hour previous, Emily had called from Cameron Drake's cell phone to tell him not to worry and that in time she may forgive him for the pain he's caused. In another hour he'd most likely be rolling around restlessly in bed looking for some course of action.

"Gonna be okay?" A voice came from behind him as a strong hand gripped his shoulder. It was Peter; it would have to be Peter...Peter who had fueled the fire that led to what was either the best or worst day of his life. Peter who he had already forgiven seeing as how he really was gay aftel.

"I would like to be alone right now, thank you." he managed to speak with no inflection, hoping it would deter whatever communication Mr. Television was looking for. It didn't.

"Why did you wait to say it, Howard?" Peter slid into the booth across from Howard as he had done three days before, unashamed and determined.

Howard rolled a pea around the edge of his plate with the back of his fork. That really was the question, wasn't it? In truth he didn't know for sure, it had been stewing in his brain since the moment it came out of Cameron's mouth and when he looked in Emily's eyes and heard the word 'honesty' he knew it was true. "I didn't know until I looked at her in her dress in front of everyone..."

"Denial is a powerful thing, isn't it?" Peter looked sincere, the real sincere instead of the television sincerity he'd shown a good portion of the last week.

"I can't believe I didn't figure it out sooner. I mean...it's so obvious."

"Just because you're a little effeminate, it doesn't mean you're gay. I mean, sure a lot of gay guys fall into that stereotype...but it's really about desire."

"I've never really thought about it." Howard shrugged. It was true, sex just wasn't part of his life and it was easier to just eliminate it altogether. Now, he was thinking about it and thinking about sex was always bad.

"Have you ever...had sex?" Peter wet his lips and gestured for a waitress.

"That's none of your business!" Howard felt his shame rising up around his ears. He hadn't dated much before Emily, and they made the decision early on to save themselves for marriage. The three years had been amazingly painless, and he now knew it was all because he didn't particularly want to have sex with her or any other woman for that matter. Sure, she was beautiful...but all the beauty in the world probably couldn't straighten him out.

"Not even with a girl?"

Howard sighed and took a bite of potatoes. "Just drop it, please? I hardly think you're one to discuss my sexual proclivities with."

Peter ordered his drink and waited until a scotch and water stood in front of him before making a rebuttal. "What would you say if I told you that I think you're very attractive?"

"I would say you need to move on to the next big story before this problem gets worse." Howard went back to his meal. After a long pause, watching Peter watch him eat, Howard added; "I'm not interested."

"How do you know you're not interested?" Peter raised an eyebrow. "Have you thought about it?"

"Most certainly not! I by evy even know you! You...you helped me ruin my life! Do I have to go on?"

"Yes. I want to hear you honestly tell me you don't have even an inkling of sexual interest in me."

"Peter, just stop. This is crazy."

"Then say it. Tell me the honest truth, Howard. If you really have no interest in me whatsoever I'll leave you to your dried out pot roast and your own devices. But I'm telling you now, I think we've got great possibility here."

"What, a possibility for you to milk more of a story out of me? I don't think so."

"I sent my camera man back to Los Angeles this morning. The story is over, Howard. All that's left is you and me." Peter paused and downed the remainder of his drink.

Howard blinked incredulously; Peter had guts, that much was certain. Not only coming on to him in a public place, but assuming he would accept! Sure, he was attractive and in his own way possibly even a little charming and witty. But what it all came down to was the fact that he was still a soul sucking media leech. "Even if I did find you mildly attractive, the fact remains that you're still a story-obsessed camera whore!"

"But you do think I'm attractive?"

"No!" Peter blushed; knowing his bluff had most likely been in vain. "You're repellant!"

"So, if I were to tell you I've got a bottle of white wine in my suite with your name on it and in return all I want is one night with you?"

"One night to do what?" Howard swallowed another bite.

"I want to show you everything you've been missing." Peter leaned forward on the table. "All of it."

Howard's hand shook as he reached for his water, dribbling the contents across the table, but too startled to notice the mess. "I beg your pardon, what kind of person do you think I am?"

"I think you're a fountain of sexual energy waiting to be tapped. I think you've been horny so long you don't know which way is up and your cock throbs every time I mention it."

"Peter! You can't talk like that in a public place!" Howard blushed further, shaking his head.

Peter continued; "I think you want me to pin you to the mattress and fuck you so hard your molars rattle."

Howard was now an irrepressible shade of pink as the image planted itself firmly in his mind. He couldn't let Peter know it sounded like a damn good idea. "Not so. I actually would prefer that you leave me alone so I can finish my dinner and go home."

Peter shrugged and slid out of the booth. "All right." He leaned over the edge of the table as he went to leave, letting his hand casually rest on Howard's thigh as he set a plastic key-card in front of him. "If you change your mind, I'm staying in the Governor’s Suite at the Evergreen Terrace hotel. Drop by any time you know what you want."

"Don't worry." Howard swallowed as Peter's hand gravitated closer to where his crotch was about to give away his real feelings on the situation. "I won't."

Stopping just short of humiliating Howard, Peter pulled away. "I'll be waiting for you to show."
