Ch. 1 "Musings at Sea"

*Just a quick note… first off, since Munder was given no first name in the flick, I’ve decided to use Jack (as it was used in the incredibly awesome story “Expectations” by Isabella over at Urban Bliss). Second of all, since I cannot bring myself to watch the end of Ghost Ship due to the horrific deaths of most of my favorite characters, we are just gonna assume that the events on board the Warrior and the Antonia Grazza never occurred. y toy to all you Ghost Ship purists, I cannot bear the thought of anything happening to Munder…*

Ch. 1 “Musings at Sea”

Jack Munder sat quietly up on deck aboard the Warrior. He couldn’t sleep. He took a deep drag on his cigarette as he stared into the calm, rhythmic sea. Tonight was their last night on the tug, for a little while at least. They had bawayaway from home for almost a year. That’s a fucking long time to see only five other people day in and day out. He wanted to toss Dodge overboard constantly, but he supposed that wasn’t too unusual. It was high time they got off this boat.
He was anxious to get home. Home meant several things to him: family, good food, sleep, and most importantly, women. There was one woman in particular that he could not wait to see, his best friend Denise, or Dee as everyone called her. He flicked the butt over the side and reclined back.

**If there was one person who knew exactly how I felt, it was Dee. She could always tell how I felt, what I was thinking. Dee was my princess, she was everyone’s princess, the pride of town. Everyone back home pretty much did the same shit. Every father was a fishermen, very mother was a housewife. It did not matter what you wanted to do as a kid, you became these things automatically. It’s a sick fucking cycle. Oh, but not me and Dee.
the the best spot welder in the state on one of the most successful salvage crews in the business. My dad was so pissed off when I told him that I did not want to catch fucking swordfish for a living. Sure, $was was a big deal for my family, but Dee, holy shit, she shocked the entire town. Dee was always very bright. Although, none of us realized how smart she really was until we all went to high school. We all took the same shit level courses. Most of us didn’t even try to learn since our careers were already set in stone, but not Dee. Two years into high school, Dee began taking courses at a college in the city. Soon, news trickled down of how Dee Thompson won this writing award and how Dee was going to meet the governor to accept yet another scholarship. She was number one in our class and everyone loved her.
We graduated and Dee became the first person from town to head out of state for college. Dee headed to Washington, D.C. while I headed out to the sea. I missed the hell out of her. I threw myself into my work and met Dodge, it’s all history from there.
Dee and I grew up next door to each other. We played and hung out as kids. We caused all kinds of hell, it was fucking great. In high school, we were inseparable. It was only a matter of time before we slept together. I think, I was 16 and she was still 15 at the time. We were both curious about sex and decided we should try it, just to see what all the fuss was about. And, of course, it was fucking amazing. All during high school, vacations (when Dee would come home from D.C.) and later whenever I came home from salvaging, we would keep each other company on cold, lonely nights. We’ve never really dated, that would only complicate things. We had an understanding, Dee and I. We saw and helped each other through everything. I was the one Dee called when she was alone, scared shitless at school. A couple of years ago, Dee was the only person I told that my girlfriend (now ex-girlfriend) thought she was pregnant. Holy shit, I never would have lived if Dee hadn’t been there to hold my hand and make me believe that I would be a good father. Thank fucking Christ, Kira wasn’t pregnant, but anyway, Dee had been there for me.
Yeah, Dee, I couldn’t wait to see her. It was my plan to say hi to my parents, find Dee, lock her in my apartment and fuck the shit out of her for two weeks, maybe three if I played my cards right.**

Munder smiled and laughed to himself. He quickly adjusted and tightened the brace on his left wrist, he could not wait to get off this fucking tug and get home.
