Fallen

"HHHHAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHAAAAA!" Romeo screamed at the top of his lungs. The speedometer needle was a blur as it shot from 40 to over the 100 mark in a split second. He couldn't see anymore, Tybalt's headlights had shone over his own, but he didn't need to see who was behind the wheel until the split instant before he hit the smaller car dead on. It crashed against a statue and turned onto it's side. For a moment, it looked as if it would straighten out, but tumbled onto it's back, Tybalt's Rapier 9mm Pistol was thrown from the wreckage. He threw himself back against the seat, blinking blood out of his eyes and reached to climb towards the gun.

And there was Romeo.

They ran for the gun. Tybalt reached it a second sooner, narrowly missing a plunge into the path of Romeo's foot and snapped back the slide, stepping back towards the steps near the remains of the car, gun raised. Romeo threw himself forward, stumbling through the heavy rain, screaming through tears that soaked his cut face from the last fight. "Mercutio's soul is but a little way above our heads!" He screamed.

Tybalt widened his eyes in dismay and tried to back away, for the first time anyone could remember, Tybalt, who was feared by every enemy of Capulet that ever set foot in Verona Beach, was afraid.

"Staying for thine to keep him company!" Romeo shouted, grabbing the barrel of Tybalt's gun and forcing it to his own forehead. Tybalt tried to keep a steady hand, feeling his trembles through the gun handle. "Thou wretched boy! Shalt with him, hence!"

"Either thou, or I, or BOTH must go with HIM!" Romeo screamed, his wild eyes daring Tybalt to fire. "Either thou or I, or BOTH MUST GO with him!" He screamed louder, choking back on his own tears and blood. "EITHER THOU, or I, or BOTH MUST GO WITH HIM!" Tybalt fell back as the gun was twisted from his hand. He opened his mouth into a gasp of horror and turned. Romeo ran, scooping up the gun and raised it, screaming as he fired.

BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! Every bullet tore through Tybalt. He spun to face him, his ruined black coat hung open to reveal the tattoo on his abdomen, now marked with 3 bloody, gaping holes. The fourth in his forehead.

He fell back, pitching over the stone edge and into a fountain, turning the water a deep, crimson-red, but it was soon washed away in the wake of the falling rain.

Romeo stared in horror and lowered the gun, he glanced down once and dropped it with a clatter to the cement. He gazed down at it, looking at the decal on the handle; a stained-glass representation of the disciples. A true sign of horror in the future, but could it truly get any worse?

There were sirens in the distance. He would have to run. Hide, leave Verona.. but no, not without Juliet.. but the questions were, would she forgive him for slaying her cousin.. and would she come with him?
