Chapter I : Senator Anakin Skywalker

CORUSANT, CAPITAL OF THE REPUBLIC

The Nubian star ship was slowly making it's arrival into Corusant. Three yellow Naboo star fighters flanked it. Two in the front, and one in the back. The ship was carrying the senator of Naboo, Anakin Skywalker, back to the planet for a special meeting of the Senate. His motion for the Anti Slavery Laws to include the Outer Rim territories. It gave the senator a lot of enemies, most of them slave owners. The fog surrounding the city made the security forces for the senator more alert as the ship landed on the platform. The star fighters landed as well, and their pilots got out of them. Captain Typho met his fellow fighter as the ship's ramp came down to let the senator off. "We made it," he said to the male fighter pilot. "I was wrong. There was no danger."

Suddenly, there was a huge explosion destroying the ship, and sending the senator and his entourage flying. Captain Typho and the male pilot flew back at the shock wave of the blast. They recovered from the blast, and the male pilot got up, making a run for the fallen senator. He removed his helmet, revealing himself to be the senator. Anakin rolled his decoy over to see the young man was dying. "Deacon?"

"I'm sorry, milord. I have failed you," Deacon said.

"No ..." Deacon's head fell as he drew in his last breath, and died. "Deacon?"

"Milord?" Typho said, "We must leave. You're still in danger." Anakin stood up, still looking at his dead decoy.

"I shouldn't of come back," he said.

"This vote is very important to you, milord," Typho said, "You did your duty, and Deacon did his." Typho began to walk, but Anakin remained glued to his spot. "Senator Skywalker, please. Don't make Deacon's death irrelevant." Anakin took one last look at Deacon before following Typho to an air taxi.

CHANCELLOR ORGANA'S OFFICE

Chancellor Organa was devastated to hear about Senator Skywalker's party. He was against the senator coming back to vote for his motion. Every senator knew he was a target, and all were worried about him. The Jedi Council were currently sitting in front of the desk. "I am worried about Senator Skywalker's safety, Master Windu. There was a close call on his landing platform this morning."

"Casualties?" Windu asked.

"Everyone on board, including the senator's own bodyguard and decoy," Organa said, "The senator himself is safe, but his head of security, Captain Typho, believes it won't be the last attack. I was hoping that you could spare some Jedi Knights to protect him."

"Agree with you, we do, Chancellor. Send our best, we will," Yoda said.

"Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi, and his apprentice, Zett Jukassa are available," Ki-Adi-Mundi said, "They are the best Master and Apprentice team we have."

"I have heard of Master Kenobi's bravery during the Clone Wars," Organa said. "Will he accept the mission?"

"He has a dislike for politicians, but he will accept it without question," Windu said.

"Good. I'll inform the senator of his new security forces." The Jedi stand up, and bow before the Chancellor. Master Windu and Yoda called for Obi-Wan and Zett to meet with the Council as soon as they get settled.

JEDI HIGH COUNCIL ROOM

Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi and his apprentice, Zett Jukassa, stood before the Council wondering what they wanted. "How well do you know of Senator Skywalker?" Master Yoda asked.

"I know that his motion for the Slavery laws to cover the Outer Rim has made a lot of slave owners unhappy," Obi-Wan said.

"An attempt on his life was made this morning," Windu said, "The attempt was futile, but the senator's bodyguard and decoy was killed, along with most of his security."

"More protection the senator needs," Yoda said, "You will provide it."

"Of course, Master," Obi-Wan said, "How soon?"

"Right now," Windu said.

"Should we investigate who's the assassin?" Zett asked.

"Investigate you will not," Yoda said, "Protecting the senator, your priority, it is."

"We'll protect the senator with our lives, Master," Obi-Wan said. He and Zett bowed before leaving the Council room.

SENATOR SKYWALKER'S APARTMENT

Senator Skywalker was a lone figure on the balcony of his penthouse. He was trying not to let Deacon's death get to him, but having his bodyguard and lover die in his arms was too much for him. He circled his arms around himself, wanting to back himself up into a corner. He didn't know what to do now that Deacon was dead. Deacon would want him to move on, but how would he find someone like Deacon. He sighed out in despair feeling another presence on the balcony with him. He cleared his throat before speaking. "Captain, must you be my five o' clock every hour?" he asked, "Ease up."

"I'll ease up when the Jedi arrive, milord."

"Ah, the Jedi," Anakin scoffed.

"They can protect you better than we can," Typho said, "They can sense things we cannot." Anakin sighed again. "Look, I know that you feel guilty about Deacon, but you have to remember, Anakin, that it was his idea for you to fly in on a fighter."

"That's why I feel guilty," Anakin said, "Which Jedi are we getting?" he asked.

"Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi," Typho said, "And his Padawan. The Jedi Council say they are the best of the Jedi Order."

"Obi-Wan Kenobi? Where do I know that name?"

"He's the Jedi that exposed your godfather as the Sith Lord, Sidious."

"Ah, I knew I recognized that name," Anakin said, "I never met him though."

"From the guards say he's a looker," Typho said. Anakin looked at the captain of his security. "Deacon would want you to move on."

"He hasn't been dead for a day, Captain!" Anakin shouted, "Let me grieve for at least two!"

"I'm sorry, Senator," Typho said before stepping back knowing that he had overstepped the line.

LIFT TO SENATOR SKYWALKER'S APARTMENT

Obi-Wan and Zett were on their way up to Senator Skywalker's apartment. Zett looked over to his master to see he was a little agitated. "Master, are you all right?"

"Why me?"

"Pardon?"

"The Council knows how much I hate politicians, and they go around and make me a baby sitter to one." Zett stifled a laugh. "It's like they're punishing me."

"It's hardly a punishment to protect Senator Skywalker," Zett said.

"Uh, huh, sure." The elevator dinged signaling their arrival to the apartment, and the doors opened up. They walked up to the guard, and identified themselves. The guard took out a comlink, and talked into it.

"The Jedi have arrived, Captain." There was a slight pause before they heard a response.

"Let them in." The guard put away his comlink, and nodded to the Jedi.

"Well, here goes nothing."

Anakin looked behind him when he heard Typho's comlink go off. The captain answered it, nodding as he replied. He nodded to the guard at the balcony entrance before turning to Anakin. "Senator, the Jedi have arrived." Anakin nodded before turing around. "Do you want a moment to collect yourself?"

"I'm fine," he said before entering the penthouse. "Well, here goes nothing," he said before going into the apartment to greet the Jedi.
