Give Me Vengeance If Not Love

ONE
It had been a long time… six months since I had made my escape from the village after the pirates had taken over. And my heart and soul were hungry for one thing… revenge. Any pirate would do, for as far as I knew they were in fact all the same, desolate creatures who wanted only to leave blood and mayhem in their wake; so when I saw him on my first night of hunting in Tortuga he seemed to be the perfect source to feed my hunger. You would think that Tortuga was the last place I would go and it would have been had it not been for my insatiable need to get revenge. I was in the Faithful Bride… a fitting name for a tavern in Tortuga seeing as no mortal woman with half a brain would be bride, faithful or otherwise, to the likes of these so called pirates. I had been watching patiently… the lioness sunning lazily in the grass just beyond the eyes and noses of the herds of wilder beasts, patiently picking out my prey. And then suddenly I spotted him and immediately every fiber in my being tensed and I knew… knew this was the one I had been waiting for… he was the most arrogant and flamboyant bastard of the bunch. The longer I watched him the more I had to have him; the whores flocked around him like a flock of sheep. Stupid cunts, I growled in my head. And he ate up the attention like a starving stray dog. And that was when his eyes locked with mine. I neither moved nor looked away. I simply took another sip of my whiskey to slow the trembling in my hands. The devil grinned at me and raised his mug in a simple salute. I nodded my head ever so slightly… the subtle invitation. A small smile I gave him then looked away briefly before quickly looking his way again. "Step into my parlor said the spider to the fly," I thought to myself and the smile felt a little more natural. I wore the lowest cut dress I dared and my corset felt like a torture devise but it pushed my bosoms up giving me more cleavage to entice a would be victim. He left the flock of sheep and sashayed like a proud peacock to me.

"Good evening," he purred.

I looked at him from beneath my lashes, "Good evening," I said in a small voice.

"Names Jack… Captain Jack Sparrow," he quipped.

"Good evening Captain," I said breathlessly.

"I've not seen ye here before," he said. He didn't even ask me for my name… how arrogant he was but not forever, I mused.

"I just arrived in town a short time ago," I told him honestly.

"Ah, so what brings a lovely girl like ye to a place like Tortuga," he asked.

I shrugged, "Bored I guess."

"Well I assure ye Tortuga is a number of things but not boring," he chuckled.

"Would you like to sit down Captain," I asked.

"Thank ye love," he quipped and slid gracefully into the chair beside me. He leaned closer to me, "Yer very beautiful," he told me.

"Thank you captain," I whispered.

"Yer welcome, can I buy ye a drink," he asked.

"That would be lovely," I told him.

"What are ye drinking," he asked.

"Whiskey," I replied.

He seemed impressed, "Be right back," he purred and got up from his chair. When he walked away I slipped the odorless and tasteless powder from the locket ring on my finger to what was left in his mug that he'd left behind.

He returned a short time later and presented me with a glass of whiskey. "Thank you," I smiled.

"Yer welcome… so what's yer name love," he asked.

"Gabrielle, my friends call me Elle," I smiled.

"Can I be yer friend," he asked.

"I don't see why not," I smiled.

"Elle, that's a nice name for a bonny lass," he quipped.

"It's nice for you to say so," I said batting my lashes at him.

Again the devil grinned and his gold teeth gleamed. "So how much for me to spend the evening with ye love," he asked gently. He thought I was a whore!

"I don't understand," I said stupidly.

He seemed to be taken aback but regrouped quickly. "Excuse me assumptions but of course an exquisite creature such as yerself is no lady of the evening," he said.

"No, just a girl looking for a little adventure," I smiled.

He took a sip of his drink, "I'd still like to spend the evening with ye," he assured me.

"Could prove stimulating," I said.

His eyes gleamed mischievously and I knew I had him. "Shall we go someplace a little more… private," he asked.

I had such a place all prepared for him, I had used every cent to my name to get here and locate the proper place to dish out my revenge. "I've got a place rented, would you like to go with me there," I asked.

He downed the contents of his mug, "Lead the way," he said excitedly.
