Fantastic .... Five?
Johnny Storm quickly carried his warm burden to the elevator up to the Fantastic Four’s roof top apartment. As the bellhop opened the door he gave Johnny a slightly panicked look. Johnny just glared at him, he had never liked this particular door man; the man kept searching for any sign the Fantastic Four were not quite as fantastic as they seemed.
Reaching the elevator Johnny pushed the buttons with his elbow, careful not to bump the coat wrapped bundle into that wall. The people in the lobby looked curiously at the man and his load, and recognized him as The Human Torch. Johnny knew this would probably make into the papers tomorrow, and Johnny had to get to Reed to figure out what to do.
Johnny managed to get to the apartment with out harming the bundle, and checking it’s pulse every few moments. It was weak, but it was there. He could not help worrying about her temperature; it felt warm to him.
“Sue,” he yelled as he carried the limp form out through the elevator door, careful to carry her straight out. “I need you here!”
“What is it, Johnny?” Sue asked, annoyed. She came out of the room she shared with Reed with wet hair, and quickly buttoning one of her husband’s shirts up. When she noticed the unconscious girl in her brother’s arms the annoyed scrunch between left and she quickly yelled over shoulder “Reed! Get out here.”
Reed’s head stretched out past the door to peer over his wife’s shoulder at his brother-in-law and what he was carrying. His body quickly followed, still buttoning the pants he had quickly thrown on. Johnny noticed that his hair, too, was wet.
“I could dry that for you, guys,” he told them with a smug grin, nodding towards their hair.
They both glared at them and Reed gave him a warning look that clearly said ‘This is not the time.’
“Come on. I was going to put her in my room,” Johnny informed them, and then continued to walk that way.
When he reached the room he inhabited in the apartment placed his cargo down on top of his comforter. The coat he had wrapped around her back in the street slipped with the movement, revealing one large breast, and with out thinking to take a glance Johnny pulled to coat back to cover her.
“Reed go get one of the scanners,” Sue ordered as she went forward to check her patient.
“Already on it,” he replied, pulling his hand back into the room, cradling the requested piece of equipment. He quickly put it to use, mumbling under his breath and running his finger across the readings.
“What happened, Johnny? And why is she here, and not a hospital?” Sue asked, watching her husband for any sign of what was wrong with the girl. It was clear now what she was, since she was no longer curled against Johnny’s chest. Sue could see parts of charred clothing still hanging on the girl’s body. Her brown hair hung limply from her head, with just enough curl that Sue knew that, when it was in good health, it would be curly. She looked healthy, if a bit thin and hard worn around the edges; If you ignored the whole unconscious part.
“I’m not sure. I was walking to the store to pick up food and stuff. Then this huge fireball fell from the sky. I tried to put it out, but it was like something was fighting me. So I flew up to catch and put it somewhere safe,” he spoke, gazing down at the girl, her faced turned towards him as he spoke, as if she were drawn to his voice. He smiled gently and reached down to brush her hair out of her face. “I caught her, and then she went out. I nearly dropped her, I was worried I would burn her. I realized, though, that if she didn’t have a burn on her from that fire, I wouldn’t hurt her. So I landed and got a look at her. She was practically naked, only had the tiniest scraps of clothing left hanging off of her. That’s why I brought her here. Not the…um…” he gestured at the girl mutely, “naked thing, the torch thing. She has the same power as I do.”
“Yes,” Reed concurred, not looking up from the girl’s readings. “Her temperature is extremely high, approximately the same as yours. Assuming,” he said slowly, shuffling through the different charts and graphs provided, “that her mutation provided the same exact modifications as yours did she must have gone through a lot. She has a broken arm; it looks like a twist break. Someone probably attacked her. She also has a lot of bruising. Going by what we know of your resistance, I have to say that she was fighting something else with strength equal to ours.”
“How did she get my powers?” Johnny demanded.
“They,” the girl coughed, “are not yours. “
