Before the suicide case…

The night was cold against his firm dark skin as he looked out over the Chicago area. He watched as people were walking back and forth through the streets giving commands to various pieces of machinery that crawled on the streets. Robots holding briefcases, humans and robots shaking hands, talking together, walking together. How sick. Waves upon waves of hate suddenly struck his feature as he remembered Sarah. Watching her die was the worst thing he had to ever witness. He didn’t give two shits about his lost arm. That can easily be replaced. But a life? Irreplaceable. What was worse? That hunk of junk didn’t listen to him in the slightest. Even when they’re supposed to.

He hated robots.

After the case and VIKI…

After they had shaken hands, Del promised to help teach Sonny some human ways and about the world he was born into. He brought him home and watched in silence, laughter, and speculation as Sonny pranced around his home picking up anything he found of interest. He answered questions, and told stories, gave as many explanations as he could to the newborn robot. But when Sonny had found the necklace, he stopped in his tracks and began hating robots again. Memories upon memories came rushing back and sadness took its toll. He hated robots.

Sarah’s necklace hung from his mechanical fingers as he examined it. Sonny brought it close to his face to have a better look at it.

“What is this beautiful thing?” he asked Del.

Del didn’t answer him. Instead, he sat on his bed and watched the floor. Sonny looked over to him when no answer was found. Maybe he didn’t hear him. He’ll ask again.

“Sir, w-?”

“It’s a necklace,” Del said dryly and quietly. He continued staring.

Sonny gave a nod of understanding and proceeded to examine The Necklace. He noticed some strange engravements on the tiny cubes. Getting up from the table, Sonny strode towards Del to ask, but stopped when he noticed his friend crying.

“Sir? What’s wrong?”

Del sniffed and rubbed his nose. He quickly got up strutting nowhere. “Nothin’. Nothin.”

Sonny became puzzled. “My system says differently, sir. You seem…sad. Hurt. Is there anything I can do?” He followed Del close behind and placed his robotic hand on his shoulder. Del spun whacking away the concerned robot’s hand. Sonny was taken aback by this gesture. Did he do something wrong?

“Please. Just leave me alone,” he said gravely. They locked eyes for a moment or so. Sonny’s was full of concern and confusion while Del’s were full of sorrow and discomfort. It suddenly occurred to Sonny as to why his friend was acting like this.

“You still don’t trust me do you,” he said calmly.

Del didn’t say a word. He merely stared. An awkward silence reigned over them for a minute or so before Del turned back to his bed and sat down.

“I miss Sarah. That’s all. That necklace is all I have left of her. She was like my daughter. She was a good friend, and she was the sweetest person I had ever met. Her and her mother.”

“What happened to her?” Sonny asked politely.

Del sniffed while rubbing the back of his neck. “They uh…they died.”

“How?” was Sonny’s calm response.

‘God. Do I have to go through the memories again?’ Del thought angrily.

“They drowned, okay? They drowned.” Del said these words with some anger behind them. Silence. “I couldn’t help them.”

“You were with them?”

“Our cars were smashed together and we fell into the lake. A robot came and tried to help me, but I told him to save them first.” Pause. “I told him, commanded him to save them.” Pause. “He only saved me.” Del began to sob. “And…they drowned. Died. Right in front of me.” He tucked his head in his arms and started crying. Sonny watched as a tear fell to the ground. A deep sadness had overcome the both of them at that moment as he paid his respects.

Suddenly, Sonny gasped to himself. He reached up to his face and pulled his finger away. A small shiny liquid molecule sparkled on his finger tip. A tear. A human tear.

Sonny turned back to his friend. Slowly, he reached over and again placed his hand on his shoulder. He had seen his father perform such kindnesses when ever someone seemed upset. Maybe this’ll help Del.

Ah, his father. Such a wise man. Creative, sweet, helpful, funny at times, a great mentor. Then he thought of his death. He did not kill his father. He was helping his father. Helping. Helping!

“Why are you crying?” Del suddenly asked him.

“That’s why you dislike us,” Sonny whispered. “You blame us for that girl’s death. You blamed me for my father’s death. Am I right?”

Del blankly stared at the alloy figure beside him. ‘Yes,’ he wanted to say, but his mouth couldn’t form it. His voice had also become lost in the process of his wanted response. He simply nodded his head and sniffed again.

Sonny sighed and stepped away from the human. He stepped away from something he may never be.

He sat down at the table to and began fiddling with the necklace on the table top while resting his head on his metal, but flexible, knuckles. He watched as the cubes flipped and spun the engravements turning around and around. Soft scratching noises were only sounds in the air. Sonny smiled to himself and began thinking about his father again. Trying to teach him all the sounds, tastes, touches, and so on. Trying to explain what color and beauty was. Trying to read him poetry, teach him about romanticism, and so on. He endured every minute with his father. He also taught him the human emotions and what they felt like. Anger, fear, happiness, love, and so on. Sonny was utterly curious about love. Just the sound of it was spell binding.

*Flashback*

“Father? What is love?”

The doctor had to think for a moment. “Well Sonny, first of all it’s not that easy to explain. There are so many different kinds of love. There’s friendship, companionship, kinship, family, marriage, comfort, hurtful, love and hate combined, flirtatious, and it just goes on and on. But here’s the main point. If two or more people care about each other, then that is love. If they trust each other then it can be love. Some show their affection by performing err…sexual phases or they are just there to help out a friend. It’s very difficult, Sonny. So if this is confusing you, then I’m sorry.” After that, his father continued working leaving Sonny to think for himself as always.

*End Flashback*

Sonny sighed again closing his eyes. Del was in need of a friend at the moment, but he doesn’t trust robots. There has to be someway of showing his…love for his friend. He should ask.

Sonny stood from the chair and slowly walked back toward Del’s bed. He was about to ask when he saw a strange movement from under the sheets. And unfamiliar noises had risen anew. He carefully stepped into the area trying not to disturb the human from whatever he was doing. He slowly lowered himself onto the bed and still Del wasn’t disturbed. He had his eyes closed, the noises were becoming louder and his free hand was griping the bed sheets turning his knuckles white.

Sonny watched in curiosity as the blankets motioned an up and down sweep. They were moving back and forth, up and down. Del was tugging something. Sonny leaned in closer. A suddenly smell rush blasted away at his artificial nostrils making him dizzy. A beautiful sensation became transfixed over his almost human body tracing his every robotic nerve. He had to know what this was.

Carefully, Sonny reached his hand out to touch it, but was stopped abruptly when Del finally noticed him on his bed trying to touch him.

“What the hell are you doing?! Don’t ever touch me down there. Ever!”

Sonny backed away in fright falling off the bed but quickly scrambling to his feet.

“I’m…I’m sorry. I was just wondering what you were doing.”

“Yeah? And what else were you gonna do?”

“I was going to…”

“Touch it,” Del finished for him. He sighed heavily. “Sonny, there are things… down there you may not be ready for yet. Nor can I explain what I was doing. It’s a human thing. You wouldn’t understand.”

“Does it have to deal with love?” Sonny asked him.

“No, Sonny. It has to deal with loneliness in my case.”

“What is loneliness, sir?” Sonny sat back on the bed.

Del scratched the back of his neck trying to think of a response.

“It’s the feeling where no one is around you, no one is there to guide you, care for you, love you.”
“I’m here with you. I care about you.”

Del quickly changed the subject. “What did you want?”

Sonny thought for a second. “I wanted to ask how I can help you trust us again. And what that sweet aroma was from under the sheets. It was…very tasteful to me. What was it?”

Del looked down at himself. “You really want to see?” Sonny nodded. Del sighed and removed the sheets. Sonny gasped at what he saw. His father never taught him about this human growth before. Maybe it was a tumor of some sort. Could Del be in danger?

“Sir…?”

“It’s called a penis, Sonny. The human male anatomy. And these re called testicles.” He pointed to his nuts. Sonny squinted his eyes to see it better.

“Does it hurt?” Sonny asked.

“No. Only if you kick it.” Del admired his own humor. Sonny felt relieved and secretly enjoyed the humor, too.

“Is it the penis that produced that wonderful smell?”

“Not exactly.”

“What were you doing with it, sir?” Sonny met his eyes.

The detective sighed once more. “It’s called masturbation. When you fulfill your own desires without anyone’s help. People do it for various reasons.”

“Can I…help you fulfill your desires, sir?”

Del was too tired and to miserable to care right now. “Sonny…”

“Just tell me what to do, sir. You won’t have to be alone. I’m here with you.” Sonny reached out for the dark man’s penis. “Just trust me.”

Del relaxed back into his sheets again loving the coolness of them.

“I trust you.” The way he said you meant only him. Only Sonny. No one else.

He felt Sonny’s cold delicious fingers grasp onto his member very carefully tugging lightly. The coolness made Del shudder in pleasure.

“Did that hurt?” Sonny asked a little confused by the reaction he had just caused.

“No. No. Keep going.”

Sonny lightly tugged the cock again gently massaging the tip with his thumb. Del moaned alittle grabbing the sheets under him.

“It’s so soft,” Sonny said in amazement. He squeezed the shaft almost making the man jump into him. Sonny proceeded with his actions. He continued to rub the sensitive head while gently tugging and squeezing in his own wonderment.

“Move your hand up and down,” Del commanded in a whisper. Sonny followed his order. He wrapped his hand around the soft skin and quickly moved his hand up and down the nine inch muscle. Del began to squirm under his touch making louder noises and bigger body movements.

“Faster.” Sonny complied. The smell was back again and Sonny sniffed it all the way into his chest enjoying the arousing aroma in the air. Del began bucking into the cold hand trying to bring out the best orgasm he was about to have. He moaned louder, tightened his grip, and arched his back. He was close.

“Put it in your mouth. Hurry.” Sonny leaned over and did as he was told continuing his actions. The smell was even better than before. He closed his blue eyes to savor it.

Del shouted in pure ecstasy as he shot his cream into Sonny’s mouth. He collapsed onto his bed again letting his breath be caught. Sonny removed his lips from the limp member and brushed some seamen from his cheek.

“It tastes strange.” Del was nearly half asleep not knowing what the robot had just said.

Sonny crawled over to Del and held him in an embrace. Something his father had taught him to do. Del unconsciously held him back entwining their arms together.

“Are you still lonely, sir?”

“No. Not anymore.”

“I’m glad.”

Del fell asleep in his arms. He didn’t hear Sonny’s last words as his dream world began to take over. It was Sarah once again.

“I love you,” Sonny had whispered.
