Not Knowing No

If you would look at her in a club you would think that she looked like a girl that was always there. But Serenity was a girl that barely went out and when she did there always seemed to be a man that wouldn’t take no for an answer. But tonight the man that wouldn’t take no for an answer was holding her up against the back wall and choking her. “Come on bitch don’t make me hurt you.”

Serenity spit in his face and he closed his hand tighter around her throat. “You have one more chance to do the right thing. Come home with me or you won’t go home at all.” The guys growled at her as he licked her ear.

The words hit her with a new will to get away from him and she kneed him between his legs and then punched him in the jaw. The guy dropped her and she didn’t even wait to catch her breath as she moved toward the dance floor. But he was up and after her.

“HELP!” She screamed as loud as she could. She was dripping blood from the punches he had given her and could barely hold her self up.

“Come here bitch!!” The guy shouted from behind her.

Serenity turned to look at him and she ran into a solid body. A very solid body. She turned around and looked at a man that she thought was a god and slipped back away from him as he reached out for her. But he grabbed her and pulled her behind him.

“Kevin don’t make me do this to you man.” The guy said in a deep growl.

“She ain’t nothing but a skank dom. Let me have her.” Kevin voiced in pain.

“I have never seen her hanging on anyone. She has never given anyone in here a reason to think her a skank and you know that you don’t hit woman here.” Dom said as she backed away from them.

She had to get away but as she backed up she ran into three other people and cried out in fear. She was scared half to death. “It’s going to be alright Serenity. Nothing will happen to you ever again.”

Serenity turned and saw Mia a girl she went to school with but didn’t know very well wrap her arms around her and pull her to a table. “I am never going out again.”

“Dom I marked her she is mine.” Kevin shouted above the music.

“You marked her against her will and you know what that means. She is free to go to anyone she wants to now leave before you get hurt.” Dom growled as the music stopped.

“I am not leaving with out her.” Kevin said to him.

Dom punched him in the face and he went down. Then he kicked at Dom and Dom grabbed his ankle and twisted it. You could hear it break as the guy screamed in pain. Dom then punched him twice in the jaw and had the bouncers drag him out.

“Serenity you are ok.” Mia said as she backed out of the chair as Dom and the other guys walked up to them.

“I just want to go home Mia.” She said before she passed out.

Mia looked at her brother and he nodded. Then he picked the girl up and carried her out to his black and blue Mazda PX-7. Mia followed close behind him wondering why her brother even stepped in. And how did he know that she wasn’t a racing skank? All this was going on in her mind as Vince got in the driver’s seat and Dom go in the back with the girl. Mia slid in the front passenger’s seat as the other to got in Leon’s car to follow them home.

“Dom why did you step in?” Vince asked him.

“She needed help.” Dom said in a voice that said “this isn’t the time.”

Mia smiled a little and realized that she was the girl that Dom has been looking for every weekend when they go to the club. He was always disappointed when she didn’t show up. But he was happy when she did. Usually she took care of the guys that wouldn’t take no for answer herself and Mia knew that she knew how to defend herself. But what really bothered her was that Dom would never talk to her. It was like he was a school boy with a crush and scared to say anything to the girl that he liked. She knew he wasn’t like that with anyone else before. Not even Letty could make him act like that so what was special about this girl.

She was knocked out of her thoughts as the pulled to a stop in their drive way and she got out. Vince held the seat for Dom so he didn’t have to let go of the girl as he got out. “Thanks Bro.”

Vince just shrugged and went to the house. The others where there a few seconds later and Mia waited for her boyfriend as he got out of the car with Leon. “What the hell has gotten into your brother? He never gets into anything with the race skanks. Why did he stop it tonight?”

“I have no idea but I know the girl from school and she ain’t any race skank.” Mia said pointly to Leon.

“Sorry Mia I didn’t know.” Leon said as they walked to the house.

Serenity woke up with the guy that saved her looking down at her in a well lit living room and she screamed bloody murder. Mia rushed to her and had to pull her away from her brother when he wouldn’t let her go. “Dom go and get some water. Serenity its ok you’re at our place. We didn’t know where you lived.”

Serenity relaxed a bit in her arms but tensed up when she saw Dom enter the room again. “He scares me.” She whispered to the girl holding her.

“He won’t hurt you. He’s my brother and a good man. So you don’t have to worry about that. Now drink some water. It will help your sore throat.” Mia said in a whisper so no one could hear what she was saying. She didn’t want to upset her brother or the girl so she decided to send them all into the kitchen while she cleaned the girl up.

Serenity watched as all the guys walked out of the room and she sighed in relief. “Why are you so jumpy around my brother?”

“He reminds me of someone that I don’t ever want to see again.” Serenity said not really wanting to tell her this.

“Did this guy hurt you or anything like that?” Mia asked as she dipped a clean towel in a bowl of water and soap.

“I don’t want to talk about it.” Serenity said as she winched when the cloth hit her cheek softly.

“Then what do you want to talk about?” Mia asked as she cleaned the girl’s face.

“When can I go home?” Serenity asked her softly.

“In a day or two if you don’t mind. We want to make sure that you don’t need to visit the hospital.” Mia said to the girl.

“But who is going to pick my car up from the club?” Serenity asked her.

“JESSE!” Mia called to the youngest one that didn’t go to the club with them.

“Yeah Mia?” Jesse asked as he walked in.

“I need for you and Dom to go and get Serenity’s car from the club. It’s the …” Mia said looking at Serenity to finish the sentence.

“It is the 2003 Dodge Viper SPT-10. It is painted black and green. Though I think that it is near the back of the parking lot. Please be careful with it. It is my baby.” Serenity said as she fished her car keys out of her front pant’s pocket.

Jesse’s eyes grew wide and he smiled. A Viper and he would be able to drive it. Or most likely Dom would be driving it back. “We will be back shortly.”

“Thanks Jess.” Mia said as the girl looked up at her.

“You are so scared of us aren’t you?” Mia asked her as she threw the keys to the boy.

“I have reason to be. I faint in a club and wake up in a house instead of a hospital. Not only that but I wake up in the arms of the guy that saved my life and I am scared of him. Then I am told that I will be staying here for two days and now I am trusting my pride and joy to people I don’t even know. I don’t trust people quickly Mia. Even if we have talked every now and then at school.” Serenity said to her.

Mia stared down at the girl and knew that she was hiding a past and by the looks of it there was a lot of pain in it. “How about you take my bed and I will sleep in with my boyfriend?”

“As long as I have a pillow I can sleep here on the floor.” She said as her eyes tried to shut.

“Serenity you can’t sleep for an hour. I want to make sure you don’t have a concussion. So why don’t we get you a cup of coffee?” Mia asked her.

“Ok but I need to go to the bathroom.” Serenity said to her.

“I’ll help you up the stairs. I don’t want you falling down them. Then I will go and get that coffee for you.” Mia said as they stood up together.

“Oh my god look at that car. It is beautiful!” Jesse said as they pulled up beside her car.

Dom smiled and nodded. She amazed him in more then one way. And her car was something that added on to it. He remembered the car as the one that barely beat him two months ago. The driver pulled up to Hector put their hand out and took the 15 grand that she had won. He was pissed because he didn’t know who was in the car and wanted a rematch for the next week. But the car hadn’t shown up since. “I’m driving the Viper home.”

“Yeah I figured that you never let me have any fun.” Jesse said with a laugh.

“Next time I swear.” Dom said as he grabbed the keys and hit the alarm button to stop it from going off when he opened the door.

Jesse followed him the whole way to the house and Dom couldn’t believe that he was actually driving the car of the girl that has been haunting his dreams for months now. “Yo Dom what’s up with you and this girl?”

“What do you mean Jesse?” Dom asked into the walkie that he had on him.

“I mean you haven’t brought a girl home in two years now. Not since you and Letty broke up and she moved to Mexico. So what’s so special about this one?” Jesse asked him.

“I really don’t know Jesse but I’m curious about her that’s all. There is something about her that has my interest for the moment.” Dom said as he pulled the car up into his drive way and Jesse pulled up behind him.

Serenity woke up in a bed that wasn’t hers and she frown trying to remember what the hell happened last night. Then she remembered it all and almost cried out in pain when her left side of her face touched the pillow and she felt sharp pains running through her body. That guy did a number on her and she knew it. But she just didn’t understand why she wasn’t able to defend herself. She felt so weak for having to scream for help. There was a knock on her door and she turned to it and called. “It’s open!”

The moment it opened she wished she pretended she was a sleep when Dom poked his head in and smiled at her. Morning, want some breakfast?”

“No thank you I will be going home in a few.” She said as she started to sit up until she realized too late that she was naked. The blanket fell from her chest and he saw all the old scars and bruises that were all over her chest. The tears in her eyes stopped him from saying anything. “Get dressed and come have breakfast then we will talk about you leaving or not.”

The door closed before she could say anything to him. Dom rushed down the stairs and into the kitchen. “Mia I want to know everything that you know about this girl.”

“Well it isn’t much she has only been at school for 5 months now. But her name is Serenity Black and she is 24. She transferred from UFS from Florida. She doesn’t have any friends that I know of and she doesn’t live on campus.” Mia said to him.

“Jesse find everything you can about a Serenity Black. I mean everything.” Dom said to him.

“Why you can ask me I am right here.” Serenity said from behind him. He didn’t even hear her walk down the stairs.

Dom turned and met her eyes. He saw the fear, pain and will to not let anything hold her down in there and he couldn’t think of anything to ask her. Finally he cleared his voice and asked. “What are all those scars all over your body?”

“That is something that you don’t need to know.” Serenity said as she turned to walk out of the kitchen.

“Then why are you scared of me?” He asked her.

Serenity stopped in mid step and started to shake. You scare me because a man that I use to love dearly was as big as you are used my body as a punching bag. He allowed his friends to hit me if I didn’t do what they wanted. I was his slave for 3 years of my life and now that I am free you come along and make me want to have a friendship with you and everyone here. I don’t trust easy but just looking at you makes me want to place my whole life in your hands. That is why I am scared of you. It has been that way since I beat you in that race two months ago.” Serenity said without even turning around.

“What is so bad about trusting someone you don’t even know?” Dom asked her as he moved closer to her.

“Because I trusted Skyler from the first day I met him and that is what happened to me. So I chose not to be friends with anyone. To have no lovers and to live a lonely life so I don’t make the same mistakes twice.” Serenity said before she left him standing in the kitchen door way.

Mia and Jesse looked at each other in shock and Dom just stood there and watched her as she sat on the front porch. “I want everything you can find on her Jesse.”

“I’ll start now.” Jesse said as he stood up.

“No eat first.” Dom said before he walked to the living room.

Serenity knew that she had said too much but at that moment she really didn’t care. All she cared about was getting away from the man that made her want to lower her walls and allow him in her heart and bed. It just couldn’t let it happen and she was going to try her hardest to stop it. The first time she saw him was after the race that she had beat him in. Everyone couldn’t believe that she actually beat him. They were all waiting for her to show herself but she knew that if she got out shit would start and there would be a fight so she went to the guy that was holding the money and got her winnings. Then she just left. When she looked back in the mirror she saw him staring at her car and knew that he would be trouble if she raced again so she decided not to race anymore.

Then when she started going to the club she saw him there and was glad that he didn’t know who she was. Because she knew that he would be all over her for a rematch and she would have to let him win so he would leave her alone. She didn’t like letting anyone win. She was good and she knew it. So she just stopped letting everything die out. But now this has happened and she is in his house in his world and she didn’t want to leave.

“You know you really should give us a chance. You never know we might grow on you.” Mia said from behind her.

“That’s what I am scared of. My whole life has been nothing but trouble. I don’t want trouble and being here isn’t helping that.” Serenity said before she walked to her car.

She tried the door and found that they didn’t lock it. She opened the door and slipped into it. Then she reached under the seat for her other key. When she didn’t feel it she opened the glove box to look for the one in there. But it wasn’t there. “FUCK!”

“Looking for something?” Dom said from in front of her car,

She looked up at him and saw her four keys in his hand. She smiled and nodded. Then she pulled out the key that was under the steering wheel and showed it to him. She closed the door and locked them as she started the car. “Keep them I will get the locks replaced.”

With that she pulled out of the drive way and headed north. She knew where she was going so there wasn’t anything to worry about. Or at least that is what she was hoping. Then she saw the cars behind her and sped up to 75. But they were coming after her and closing in. so she turned and got on the highway and floored it. She knew that she would be able to lose them here or at least she prayed she could. She looked down and saw she was just about to hit 120 and smiled. She loved it when she was at this speed but she knew that she had to at lease slow to 90 so she didn’t eat her gas up too much. But she waited until she could no longer see the cars in the review mirror. She was free and slowed down to 80. “Serenity come out come out where ever you are.”

Serenity looked around and saw a walkie sitting on her passenger seat. She grabbed it and pressed the button. “Dom really I am not worth all this trouble.”

“Now don’t you think that I should be the one to come to that conclusion?” Dom asked her.

“Just leave me be!” Serenity said before she threw it out her window.

Dom saw that they were losing her but Jesse had gotten her address and they knew where she was heading. So they let her go and he decided to play with her. But when he heard the loud noise it does when it breaks he knew she threw the walkie talkie out the window. “Fuck what is wrong with this girl? Any other girl would throw themselves at me for doing what I did for her last night. But no she has to be the pain in the ass!”

“Bro find someone that actually wants to spread her legs for you.” Leon said to him over the walkie talkie.

“She does I know she does.” Dom said back to him.

“Then why is she running from us?” Vince asked him.

“She is scared and doesn’t trust anyone. You should feel for her Vince. You don’t trust anyone either.” Dom replied as he turned off the highway.

They drove to the apartments that she was living at and was shocked to see how run down they were. She put all her pride in her car and she didn’t have the money to get a better apartment or she is hiding and can’t let go of the car. All they knew was that there were six cars with covers on them and they would have to look at all of them to see which one was hers. “Yo Dom I think that I have found her. She parked in the back.”

“Not very smart is she?” Vince asked with a laugh.

“No she doesn’t know that we know where she lives. Now come on.” Dom said as they pulled in.

They all parked next to each other and got out. “You thought that I wouldn’t find you? You thought that you would get away from me and live to tell about it. You are mine and you will be coming home!”

“I think she has trouble.” Vince whispered as they climbed the stair quietly.

“Yeah and I think it is her ex.” Leon said from behind them.

“Skyler I have my own life now and you aren’t apart of it. You are nothing to me but a mistake in my---SMACK!!”

“You bastard!” Serenity said before she punched in him the jaw.

Skyler staggered but then he punched her in the stomach. Serenity slipped down to the floor and she spit up blood. “Now didn’t your mother ever teach you that it isn’t nice to hit girls?”

Skyler turned around and looked at the three behind him and smiled. “This is no concern of yours. So go to you business.”

“Well to me hitting my girlfriend is my business.” Dom said as he walked toward him.

“Your girlfriend ha! She has been mine for years now and she is coming home toady aren’t you sweetie?” Skyler asked looking down at her.

“NO!” Serenity screamed as she punched him in his balls.

Before the three could do anything Serenity had him on the floor punching him over and over in the face. It took a few minutes but they pulled her off him and took her into her apartment and then took him to the road and dropped him off a few streets over. When they got back they saw that Serenity was packing and fast. “Where are you going now?”

“Any where but here. I just have to keep on running. I should just buy a gun and blow his brains out but I know that I don’t want to go to prison.” Serenity said as she pulled a chest out from under her desk.

“Why leave we can protect you.” Vince asked her.

“I don’t want you to protect me I just want to pack and leave.” Serenity said before she spit blood on her floor.

“Are you ok?” Dom asked as he walked toward her.

Serenity covered her face and packed away. She was scared still. Even after all that happened she was still scared of him. “I am fine. There is nothing to worry about. I just bit my lip when he punched me.”

Dom walked over to her and looked down at her. “We can’t let you keep on running. It is just wrong for you to have to run from him.”

“Don’t worry about me. I’ll get along just fine.” She said as she tried to slip past him.

“I really don’t think you understand what I am saying Serenity. I am saying that you aren’t running any more.” Dom said before he picked her up and threw her over his left shoulder.

Serenity brought her left foot up and kicked him in the side of the head. He went down and she went down with him. But she got away from him and backed up to the wall so she would be able to see all three of them. It was going to be hard to do but she knew that if she was to get out of there she will have to go through all three of them. She slid up the wall and stood up. Dom slowly got up and looked at her. “You can do this the easy way or the hard way. It is really up to you.”

“I choose my way.” Serenity said before she jumped out the window that was beside her.

Serenity was glad she was only on the second floor and she landed neatly on her feet. She grabbed her key out of her pocket and went to her car. But as she got in she saw them behind her and she knew that driving was going to wait. So she ran instead. She ran into the alley and kept on running. She was going to make them work for it if they were going to treat her like this. She wasn’t going down without a fight this time. “Serenity don’t make us chase you. This is for your own good.” Dom yelled from behind her. He was close and she knew that he was closing in on her so she picked up pace.

Suddenly a car pulls out in front of her and she hits the hood and rolled over it. She didn’t stay down too long and was up and running before Vince could even get out of the car. “She is good.”

She just ran away from them and she knew that it was no use because they knew this town oh so much better then she did. But they will have to look for her. She isn’t going to give in to them easy. She chanced a glance behind her and saw that Dom wasn’t chasing her anymore. To many that would make then relieved but to her it made her run harder and faster. He was up to something and she knew it. She looked down the alleys until she found one that wasn’t a dead end and raced down it. When she came to the street she raced across it and onto the bus. She put the money in the holder and went to find a seat.

She sat all the way in the back looking out her window behind her. Dom raced out of the alley she had in to see the bus pull off. He knew that she was on it and knew that she was beginning to piss him off. She wasn’t getting away from him and if she didn’t like it then too bad. “Vince she is on the bus.”

“Got it. She is sitting in the back.” Vince replied to him.

“Leon you know what to do.” Dom said as he followed the bus on the side walk. It would be stopping in two minutes and he had the move all set up. All he had to do was to wait for the fucking bus to stop. Serenity watched them from the back and knew she was totally fucked. “You might as well give it up girl you are coming home with us.”

Serenity spun around and looked at Leon. She didn’t even realize that he was even on the fucking bus. “Great I get to be another fucking slave.” Serenity whispered so he couldn’t hear it.

“I have my arms around the beautiful lady as we speak.” Leon said into his cell.

“Good watch her.” Dom replied as the bus came to a stop.

Serenity couldn’t take it anymore and she felt the darkness close in on her but she fought just like she should have fought them. But it over took her without much of a fight. When Leon felt her go limp in his arm he knew that she had passed out. To be honest he was surprised that she didn’t do it when her ex was there. Dom walked onto the bus and looked at Leon. “She passed out again.”
