To Love an Infidel
To Love an Infidel
"To kill an infidel is not murder; it is the path to salvation!"
"Take me to Jerusalem." Nasir looked after the Christian knight for a time, watching the shadow float away on the quivering sand. He thought it odd that the man hadn't killed him on sight for being a Muslim; it seemed all Knights did so. A loud, melodious voice interrupted his thoughts by shouting, "Will you take me or not?"
The two walked in silence until they reached the estate of Nasir's late 'master', where they slept. Nasir, curious now and fueled by his unexpected liking of the man, moved out of his room towards the adjoining one. He felt he owed the Christian something, and the only way Nasir wanted to pay it was with his body, his mind. He stepped lightly, hearing his feet scuff over the polished tile floor. He walked to the knight's bed, laying a hand of the soft shoulder to wake him.
"What? What is it?" the knight's eyes were wide, and without fear. Nasir found light in them, like pools of sun without heat.
"Will you accept repayment for my life?" Nasir slipped his robe away from his shoulders, letting it drop to the floor in a whisper of cloth. "Will you accept me as repayment?" Nasir swung one leg over the rail of the low bed, and settled his weight over the Christian. His lips, soft and wet from the swipe of his tongue, hovered over the knight's face, opening to take in a breath and exhale it. "What is your name?"
"Balian." Nasir smiled a slow, lazy smile, and splayed his fingers underneath the rough shirt this Christian wore. It seemed odd that such rough cloth kept such smooth skin under it. He pulled his other leg over the bedside, fully resting his weight on Balian's middle as he leaned forward. "Do you take pleasure from men, Balian?"
The knight brought his hand up and lightly, so lightly, pushed his fingers into the maze of curls at Nasir's temple. "I would take it from you, yes," he said, only barely making his words louder than a whisper. His voice sounded like water chimes, deep and rich, but soothing in a way only a soft voice could be. It wasn't longer than a second before their mouths met and twisted in a kiss that was both wet and delightfully warm, like the breath of the midnight oasis air.

"The one you let live?" Nasir nodded, thinking about how he had escorted this knight into the very den of iniquity. "Perhaps you should not have."
The commander's judgmental tone sent pricks up Nasir's spine. "Perhaps…" /Perhaps you should not have taken him to Jerusalem at all…keeping him in your house would have made you a finely pleasured man, for a time./ "Perhaps I should have had a different teacher."
