Prologue:

Three girls, three friends: Heather, Sarah, and Megan, had disappeared. No-one knew where they went, but a note left by the girls said that they may come back one day. The girls had left to be on their own.

Chapter One:

The girls had discovered a small time portal that seemed to take only them through...so far at least, at this point. They had been going in and out once a year, the time in the portal passing by much quicker than where they were from. The girls had made a choice, this would be the last time they went through, wanting to see friends made through years.
The girls had dressed appropriately for the the time: the Civil War. They remembered the time they went through as when the James and Younger brothers came home from the war.
Megan was anxious to see how much Jim Younger had grown, Sarah was anxious to see Cole, and Heather....Heather wanted to see her Frankie.

“Why don't you look nervous, Heather?” Megan asked.
Sarah laughed.

“She's frozen, Meg,” Sarah chuckled, “not in the bad way, though. Just that she is nervous, so nervous that she's frozen to move.”
Megan got the gist of it. Heather sat on her horse, remembering her promise to a sixteen year old Frank James. 'I promise you, Frankie, that the next time I see you,' she tapped his nose, 'I'll give you a real kiss.' She was just wondering if he remembered the promise.

“Wild horses couldn't take me away,” She whispered to herself, “I'm coming home, Frankie.”
Heather smiled abruptly at her friends before breaking out in a full gallop, racing her way to the James farm.

Childhood living
Is easy to do
Heather pressed her horse, Gabriel, into a dead run, wanting to reach the young man she fell for all that time ago.

The things you wanted
I brought them for you
She thought of times when she would see Frank smile. Oh, she loved to see Frank smile. She promised herself that this time he would smile.

Graceless lady
You know who I am
She slowed down as she got closer to the farm, not even waiting for her friends to catch up with her.

You know I can't let you
Slide through my hands
Heather had dreamed of the day she would see Frank again.

Wild Horses
Couldn't drag me away
Wild Horses
Couldn't drag me away
Heather brought Gabriel to a stop, letting the poor horse rest. She smiled to herself, standing in front of the house she hadn't seen in a long time.

“Frankie James, get your lazy ass out here pronto!” She yelled, hoping he would come.
There was commotion inside the house, the inhabitants pouring out. But the one that she came to see came out last.

“Now, Frankie, we have to work on that timing of yours,” She teased, before Frank picked her up in a hug and swung her around.
She buried her face into Frank's neck.

“Heather...” He said softly.
“Wild horses, Frankie, wild horses,” She reminded him.
It was a little bit before Megan and Sarah had caught up with her. Megan cursed.

“We missed it, didn't we?” Megan said as she dismounted.
Heather was confused.

“Missed what?” She asked, her arm still around Frank.
Megan grinned.

“The promise you made Frank before we left the last time,” She said smugly.
Heather rolled her eyes.

“That you didn't miss, Megs,” Heather laughed.
Frank thought for a moment, before realizing what the young girl had meant.

“I think that Frank remembers that too,” Sarah said just as smug as Megan.
Heather tapped her forehead on Frank's shoulder.

“I did say I'd do that, didn't I?” She laughed.
Jesse was confused and their mother was amused.

“Do what?” Jesse asked.
Heather grabbed Frank and grinned.

“This,” She said before she kissed him.
Ma James stood there smiling, Jesse and the others cheered and whistled. When they parted, they were both grinning wide.

“Told I would do it,” She said breathlessly.
Frank smiled and kissed her softly.

“I missed you,” He said softly.
Frank held Heather close, her face buried into his neck.

“I missed you too, Frankie,” She whispered back.
Heather held on to Frank, not wanting to let him go.
