Prologue

Author: Pilgrim
Title: Tolling of the Bell
Rating: NC-17 by the end possibly sooner depends on how the story progresses
Summary: Time to stir things up again, going to tie in with PotC 3: At World’s End roughly, emphasis on the roughly. So don’t read this unless you’ve seen the film as there are some spoilers!!!
Jack and Oria are back, united and mortal. Davy Jones is still perturbed at Jack’s escape and theft of Oria. He’s baying for their blood and refuses to heed any warning except one. Although, he’s not the only one who wants the pair dead and all are ready to bend the rules to achieve their ends.
Disclaimer: I do not own any of the PotC characters or movies (unfortunately); anything you recognize isn’t mine (god damn them to hell!) Before anyone asks yes, Oria is mine, who else could have thought up such a creature?
Feedback: Please! First time fan fiction writer and desperate for tips, advice, etc. I want to improve and take over the world with my genius mwhahaha! Lol, only kidding but feedback would be fantastic, send it to raukarwen_deomene@yahoo.com! VERY FRIENDLY PERSON WILL NOT KILL ANYONE FOR BEING POSITVE OR NEGATIVE! JUST TELL ME!
WARNINGS: This could include anything! I mean anything, I merely write what my imagination conjures up, and most of the twists are a surprise to me! Probably a considerable amount of violence, cussing, possibly some angst, depends on where my little plot bunnies lead me basically. Oh they’re so cute… OOWWW they bit me, that’s it I’m infected let’s get on with the story before they torture me more!!!
Notes: So far unread, so really need feedback on it.

*~*~*~*!!!DO NOT READ IF YOU’VE NOT SEEN ‘AT WORLD’S END’!!!*~*~*~*

Prologue

Oria leaned against the banister slowly and watched as the pirates poured off the ship and into Tortuga’s multitude of taverns and pleasure houses. Her eyes were on the setting sun, how long had she been mortal now? A week, two weeks? She’d lost count with the sheer exhilaration of being free, no more commands, orders or demands. Just what she wanted and when she wanted it, which had meant a lot of Jack naturally, not that he had complained.

A warm hand rested on her shoulder, “You coming?” Jack queried, his eyes sparkling with the sudden simple-ness of life and the glitter from the Tortuga lights in the darkness of the night. Oria straightened next to him and grinned.

“Naturally, can’t let you go wandering in a town full of wanton women without an escort. Who knows what you’d come back with.” Oria chided teasingly, tugging her hat lower onto her head and jogging down the boarding plank without pause to check that he was following. Sure enough his footsteps echoed after hers and the warm arm crept about her waist in an overly-familiar manner.

“First stop is the Faithful Bride.” Jack announced with a flourish of his hand immensely glad to be back in what he considered his home town. It had been the first port of call after the showdown to effectively re-group and assess the situation. The streets were rowdy and bustling with the beginning of night, pirates and whores bouncing off one another and the walls in the packed streets. The pair slipped into the tavern with the slightest of difficulty as they were barged apart by a random sparring pair of pirates.

Oria glanced about the tavern warily, checking for any potential enemies but was satisfied that there were none when she spotted the rest of the Pearl’s crew gathered around a table and engaged in some random drinking game. Jack grinned and bawled over the crowd for another round of rum to be brought to the table. Squeezing through the packed pirates they managed to make it to the pair of seats Gibbs had reserved with only a few bruises from protruding elbows. Jack quickly assisting the stumbling serving girl who was juggling the various tankards as well as fending off any wayward pirate hands, he was more worried about having to pay for another round if the girl dropped this one than the girl’s welfare.

Slowly a crowd gathered around him and began to chant for one of his notorious tales. Jack glanced at Oria and began retelling their recent escapades with Davy Jones and the heart with a grin. Unknown to them, ears that were unwanted picked up the tale and a slither of a shadow disappeared unnoticed from the tavern and down to the docks. A single person raft drifting over the ocean calmly, its destination set into stone by the heart and will of its sailor.
