Unexpected

It was unexpected, that moment I looked into blue eyes, like a cloudless Caribbean sky. The feeling that my heart might jump from my chest, the weakening of my knees. It was all I could to to keep from falling at his feet. He was like a warm fire in the midst of a cold English winter. Or a cool dip into the ocean on an endlessly hot day. Inviting and refreshing. And it was all so unexpected. In that moment there was no William, no Elizabeth, no Sparrow- no passing fancy. I knew in an instant that this was more. This was everything and nothing in a glance. Each smile, each laugh, and absent minded touch made he long desperately for the next. I was becoming what I had never thought to be. No other could move me, but the man who owned those endless eyes of forever. He promised me forever without saying a word. I never knew how deep his promises went until I found that my own had failed. That I left him to a cruel harsh world. But when I woke, on an endless beach nothing more, nothing less... there they were. Blue eyes staring down at me, smiling at me. I should have known he would follow me. That even in death, we could not be parted. It was so unexpected. But then again, love, is unexpected.
