Gilbert's POV:

Tonight me and my buddies went to Ramp's café to have some dinner. Usually I stay home but tonight was one of those nights that I needed to get away. Have you ever felt that it seemed like life always passes you by? Like there is no possible way of getting away? Well that is certainly, how I feel. It's not that I'm not thankful for my life or for the things people have done for me, but I just with things could or would get better. Sometimes I wish I could just live…

However, tonight was the main topper for it. You see I have this brother named Arnie who has a lot of what we in my family like to call Special Issues. And I as the older brother has decided to take care of him since my mother is incapable of doing so herself. Well tonight was a usual argument with my sisters, calming that I don’t do enough, and that I need to do better. Well honestly, I had enough of it, so I left. I ended up meeting up with Tucker and Bob at the Ramp Café, for dinner and was immediately met up by our favorite waitress Abbey. Abbey you would say was a very unique character in our town. She's seen and done it all and yet she still comes back to Endora to live here. You see Abbey was never born here, she was actually born in London, but her father ended up getting a decent job here in Idaho but eventually the great job was taken away from him so their family had to move here.

After awhile of Abbey living here her accent of hers started to disappear, When I first met Abbey I found her to be very interesting, with her raven black hair and her piercing green eyes, but I knew right from talking to her that she wouldn’t be someone I'd be interesting in dating, unfortunately… She is what Tucker likes to call a free spirit and yet that is what fascinates me in a woman I also knew that she was actually fascinated with Tucker. So much for me making a move right? "Hey boys what can I get for all of you?" Abbey said to us in her warm cheerful tone. I never knew why she was giddy lately but she has been. Abbey has been known to have quite a temper and yet the past couple of days she's been very cheery and very happy. "The usual Abbey." I said to her, giving her a warm smile. Abbey smiled back at me and nodded while she wrote down my order. And as if Tucker was reading my mind he then suddenly asked. "Abbey I noticed you have been in a really great mood lately. Is there something going on that your not telling us?" he said to her giving her a knowing smile. Of course, we all wanted to know what has made our dry sarcastic yet loveable Abbey grin this much, but none of us were really brave enough to ask her. Abbey grinned down at us, took a seat next to me, and placed her pad on the table. "Well I guess it's alright if I tell all of you, but my best friend from London is coming here to stay with me. And she actually should be here any moment." She said excitedly looking at her watch. I couldn’t help but smile at Abbey's giddiness and chuckled. "So I take it that you lied to your friend about how great Endora is." Abbey of course scoffed at me and rolled her eyes. "No I did not lie to her! She's just getting through a very messy divorce and is coming to live with me. Poor dear she is, I told her not to marry that idiot but who was I to say you know?" she said with a bit of sigh in her voice. I couldn't but chuckle at Abbey, since she was always one to give you her honest opinion, which was another thing that we loved about her. "So what does she look like?" Bob asked her. I could tell that Abbey wanted to oh so badly roll her eyes at Bob, since she knew that Bob was basically interested in any woman who would go out on a date with him, which was very rare considering his field of work. "Ally has dark brown hair, blue eyes, um… she's about my height and she would probably not be interested in your Bob." She said with a smirk on her face, Bob stared at her in shock while Tucker and I tried to hide our laughter.

Just then, a woman holding a small girl walked into the café matching Abbey's description. But what Abbey didn’t tell us was that this girl was absolutely beautiful. That is if this woman was the person Abbey was talking about, which I figured it was since I heard Abbey gasp and quickly rush out of the booth. "ALLY!" she said excitedly, and rushed up to the woman who just walked into the café, the woman smiled at Abbey and shifted to hold the small girl in one arm and used her other to hug Abbey tightly. Abbey then quickly looked back at us and smiled while she pulled the woman back to our booth. "Ally I'd like to introduce you to my friends." She then pointed at me. "This is Gilbert Grape." I then smiled at Ally and waved at her, and she did the same. Abbey then pointed at Tucker. "And this is Tucker Van Dyke." Ally then smiled at him as well and then quickly looked back at Abbey, with a knowing smile. Abbey ignored it and then pointed at Bob. "And this is Bob Mcburney." Ally smiled at him as well and then looked back at Abbey. "So which one is the one you always talk about?" We all tried to suppress our grins while we watched Abbey glare at her. "You just get here and you're already startin somethin." Ally started to laugh, which I had to admit I wanted to hear again from her and saw the mischievous glint in her eyes. "Oh come on Abbey you know it's all in fun." Abbey nodded her head and looked down at the small girl that Ally was holding. "And who is this little Angel?" Ally gave her a huge grin, which once again I'd love to see her do again. "This is my daughter Katie." Abbey grinned down at Katie. "Ello luv, I'm yer auntie Abbey." Katie looked up at Abbey and gave her a warm smile but then hid into her mother's shoulder. "Sorry Abbey she's a bit shy." Abbey seemed to nod in understanding. "aw it's fine luv." She then looked over at the small girl. "Would you like me to bring you some crayons and something to color?" she asked sweetly, Katie looked at Abbey and nodded very quickly. Abbey laughed at this and then started to walk towards the hostess podium and picked up a kiddies place mat and a box of crayons, and placed it on the table next to our booth. "'ere ya go luv." Ally smiled and thanked Abbey and placed Katie down in the chair while Katie immediately busied herself with her new crayons. I then saw Abbey pull Ally back to our booth and had her sit down, which was right next to me I might add. Abbey then quickly pulled out a chair, placed it next to the booth, and sat down, while she rested her elbows on the table. "So tell me luv, why did you decide to come to Endora? I know you have family in London." Ally slowly nodded at her and let out a small sigh. "I had to leave Abbey you have no idea what it was like there. I had to get Catherine away from there… away from her father…" she said the last part quietly but I instantly caught what she was saying. Abbey suddenly frowned at Ally and placed her hands on top of Ally's. "What happened luv?" Ally looked up at Abbey and then looked nervously up at us. "No offence to all of you but I'd rather not talk about it." Abbey scoffed while we were all going to nod in agreement. "Please Ally, it's not like the whole town will not find out luv, gossip is prime here, plus these boys are good boys they wont start anythin." Ally sighed, and gently bowed her head. "I suppose yer right… it's just been very hard Abbey." Abbey frowned, obviously worried about her friend. "What happened luv? You never went into detail why you two got a divorce." Ally sighed, and gently looked up at Abbey, while we all sat there hanging on to what could make this beautiful woman want to leave her home so badly. "He was cheating on me Abbey." She said softly. I stared at Ally in shock I couldn’t believe that someone would absolutely want to cheat on someone like her, but I suppose I wasn’t the only one looking at her in surprise, since Tucker and Bob were looking at her the same way as well, Abbey obviously looked furious. "That stupid blighter cheated on you! Oh! I knew it! I knew that git wasn’t any good for you!" she said hotly, her British accent coming back. Ally slowly nodded and then looked up at her daughter to see her happily coloring and then back at Abbey. "That’s not all of it Abbey." Abbey frowned, while we all sat there quietly obviously all intrigued as to why this girl was so in words terrified. "Don’t you even tell me…" Abbey said grimly while Ally slowly nodded her head. "He did…" Abbey sighed while we all caught on as to what this person did to her. "When?" she asked slowly, while she bowed her head. Ally then looked back at her daughter once again and said in a low enough tone so no other outside of our little area could hear. "Since the day we got married." Abbey stared at her in shock, mimicking the looks we were all giving her. "…what?" Ally sighed and then looked back at Abbey not even bothering to look back at us; she probably knew that we would look at her the same way. "Before you start jumping on me Abbey, he promised that he was going to stop, and that he was going to get help. However, that stopped once I became pregnant. You have to understand Abbey, I thought that us having a child together will make things better, and he really did stop after awhile but as soon as I recovered from the pregnancy he started back up again." Abbey nodded resting her head in her hands and gave Ally a thoughtful look, while I was contemplating the best way to beat the crap out of this guy if I ever meet him. "and you stayed because you knew you had a daughter to take care of… it makes sense Ally, but the only question I have is that if, Eddie abused you since you two were married what was the last straw that made you decide to get out of the marriage and leave the country?" I could tell that Ally was on the brink of tears, due to the fact that this must be very hard on her to admit especially to three strangers and even though she's acting that it's fine, I know full well it's not and Abbey should've known to, but that's Abbey for you. Let them know now instead of everyone just finding out on their own, that it's better to hear it from the horses mouth they say. "He laid a hand on Katie." She whispered, I knew as soon as I heard that someone laid a hand on that little girl over there that was ready to beat the hell out of this guy. But at the same time I kept asking myself why would I even bother it's not like I'm involved with this woman that I have just met, but for some reason hearing what has happened to her made me want to be protective of her, huh funny how that works. "Ally how did this happen?!" Abbey asked in a hysterical tone. "The telephone started ringing, and I answered the phone to hear this woman's voice and I begged her to tell me the truth. So she did, well Eddie over heard me on the phone and when I had enough and threaten to leave him, he slammed me into the wall and backhanded me, and then threw me onto the ground and started to kick me in the abdomen. Well Katie tried to stop him and he ended up backhanding her, causing her to fall and slam her head into the table knocking her out. So I immediately took Katie to the hospital and was glad to hear that her injury wasn’t to bad, so when Katie was discharged I took her out of the country with me and filed a divorce with Eddie and as soon as the divorce was finalized I once again left so he couldn’t find us. And so Abbey here I am." Abbey I could tell had tears in her eyes and moved out of her seat to hug the woman who was beside me. I'll be honest, I even had the urge to hug the woman beside me but I restrained myself and decided to look over at the small girl who was still sitting at the table coloring her picture. How could anyone want to hurt their daughter was beyond me and when I looked over at Ally I couldn’t imagine why someone would ever want to cheat or beat someone like her. Yeah I barely know her, I mean the only thing she's really said to me was hi but apart of me knew that she was a good person, call me crazy but I have a feeling that me and Ally will have much more in common than I'd like to think.

As the night went on, we ended up learning about how Ally and Abbey have met, and how they were childhood friends since they could remember. I also learned that Ally loves to sing and that she planned on applying for the job as the choral director at the church, since they were in need of one. But I have to tell you it also amused me to listen to the two British woman argue about how once Ally get's on her feet that she wants to buy an apartment and not constantly be in Abbey's way. From what I've seen of the two women you could say that they could be easily mistaken as sisters for the way they go on with each other and in all honesty that amused me immensely.

As dinner came, Abbey insisted that Ally and Katie's meal's were on here, but I could tell that Ally was very stubborn and didn’t want people to think she wasn’t capable of taking care of herself and her daughter, so she insisted that she would pay her bill and for Abbey to pay for the next one. Of course Abbey was irritated with Ally's compromise but accepted it anyways, as the night progressed further it was finally time for me, Tucker and Bob to head out, we all bid Ally, Abbey and Katie goodbye and watched as the girls to headed out as well. I knew during our duration of meeting Ally that Bob was immediately attracted to her, and I also knew that it wouldn’t be long until he would ask her out, but apart of me really hoped that he wouldn’t. because I too found Ally to be very fascinating. But who knows… even if there ever was to be something, she'd probably run away as fast as she could after meeting my family… after all I would.
