AN: Sorry to disappoint, but my narrator's name is Candace, AKA 'Candy'. If you don't like me naming her Candy, don't read it. I've known girls who nicked themselves 'Candy' and it's perfectly fine. Also, this first chapter is a narration. Candy is telling a story. So, all thoughts and emotions will be watered down. In Chapter 2, however, it's going to be Jack's POV so you'll have all the thoughts you can handle.

“Why don’t you love me?” The brunette girl asked. Her chocolate brown eyes shone with tears. It wasn’t the first time, but she knew this was different. He was really leaving. The blonde boy in front of her sighed. She searched his piercing blue eyes for any sign of regret, but she found none. “I don’t know, Candy. Maybe you just aren’t my soul-mate.” He said. She laughed, bitterly, wiping at her eyes. “You don't have a right to call me that. It's 'Candace'. And what do you know about soul-mates, Derek?” Candy asked, all of her bitterness filling her voice.

Derek opened his mouth to speak, but Candy interrupted, putting her hand up. “Let me tell you a story, Derek. Just one last tale.” She said.

Derek nodded. He did love her stories. He had since they met in 6th grade. Many of them, he’d researched, but could only find hints of the stories having been rumors and gossips in the past. He believed, however, that the stories she told him were true. Somewhere in time, they were true. “Once upon a time...” she started. It always started that way. Whether she was talking about the fall of Troy or a noblewoman in England. Or even of a struggling journey westward on the Oregon trail.

“Once upon a time, there was a man named ‘Captain Jack Sparrow’. He was Captain of a pirate ship, the Black Pearl. Now, depending on who you talked to; Captain Sparrow was either the worst pirate ever to sail the Spanish Main, or the best. Oh, he was clever, all right, and even the people who admired him said he was a little bit crazy. But that was what made him a good pirate. Now, Captain Jack was charming and handsome and he could’ve married almost any woman he came across. But he was a pirate and he couldn’t possibly settle down. It was against everything in him. So, He slept with whores in every port and he was happy with it. He loved it.

“Until he brought his ship to port in Tortuga, the pirate city. He came into a bar called the Faithful Bride to search for a whore he hadn’t angered yet. What he saw, took his breath away.

“He saw a beautiful woman with long blonde hair and deep blue eyes. She wasn’t a prostitute. He could tell by what she was wearing. Not a dress. She was wearing a pair of breeches made of brown cloth and a red bodice over a white blouse. And she was wearing a brown hat, just like the one he always wore.

“He watched her from across the tavern for an hour, drinking rum. She, too, had a bottle of rum, and when her bottle came to be empty, he walked over and handed her a full bottle.”

AN: That's the first chapter. Becomes a flashback in Jack's POV in the second chapter. R&R everybody!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
