Bugs Reward
The game was a complete disaster. The aliens were beating the utter crap out of the Looney Tunes squad. It was only Bug’s quick thinking with the ‘energy boost’ drink that had given the team the chance to be saved from humiliating defeat. It was now closing on the end of the game; the toon’s only needed a couple more points to beat. But that’s when it hit.
Lola moved into her position, her keen athletic mind already working to devise strategies and contingencies, unknown as one of the dangers unfolded behind her. When Bugs Bunny returned to the field he looked out across his team of opponents, mentally cataloguing a list of insults and jokes useable on each one. “Wait?” But when he came to insulting the largest one, Bug’s noted he wasn’t in the line up. “He’s probably in the locker room crying over how badly we’re goanna kick his butt” Bug’s snickered to himself, the very idea tickling his overdeveloped funny bone, turning back towards his teams side of the court. But then he saw what had really happened to the missing player. He was scaling the basketball hoop, crouching ontop like a cat ready to pounce. He looked down at the court, Lola! “Lola, Lola heads up!”
Bugs charged forward, screaming in the hopes to safe Lola from being painfully crushed. But it was too late. Lola turned to see the large orange ball gracefully falling through the air. Lola was frozen stiff with horror, her normally confident demeanour broken; there was no way she would be able to get clear in time. Bugs slammed into Lola, throwing her into the air. She glided through the air, crashing onto the floor skidding across the polished court. When she abruptly came to a stop on the edge of the court, her head spinning with mild pain and confusion. But all those distractions were banished from her mind when she saw the sacrifice made to ensure her safety. Bugs was lying flat on the court, his body completely lacking any Third dimension. “Bugs!” She cried out to him, her arm outstretched in the hope of reaching him. Her legs didn’t respond to her, forcing for her too claw for him desperately. But suddenly the feeling became too strong for her legs too ignore, she leapt up and scrambled across the court towards him.
She collapsed down next to him, taking his crumpled form in her arms. “Are you okay?” She spoke through shaking lips. “Me? Oh yeah I’m fine, are you okay?” Lola’s eyes beamed with delight, all memories of Bugs’s flirtations and remarks had been washed away in one single heroic act. “Oh bugs, thank you” “Oh, it was nothing” Bugs tried to brush it away, trying to hide his pain behind a veil of false smiles. “That was the nicest thing anyones ever done for me” And she was more than prepared too show it, planting a loving kiss on his light grey bunny lips. A spark of energy thundered through Bugs’s body, reanimated his limp and broken form and causing his eyes to snap open with surprise. Lola slowly moved towards Bugs’s big floppy right ear, whispering a sweet tune to him. “When we win, I’ll be sure to give you your reward” Before Bugs could question her remark she had gone, ready to win the game for the Toon’s.
And Lola was true to her word. The Toon’s had beaten the aliens in the basketball game, ensuring their freedom from the violent ideas. But while the rest of the team bathed in the glow of their victory, Lola had other plans already working. Gripping Bugs gloved paw in her hand she lead him away from the cheering crowds, and Bugs just had to bite at the carrot she dangled precariously before his twitching nose. “Alright, what’s this reward” Lola was having none of it. “You’ll see”
