He Watched

He watched as she reunited with all those that she had met on her journey through the Underground, reassuring herself that the adventure did indeed happen. He had been watching since she began to put her old toys and pictures away, trying to bury her childhood, visualizing with each trinket that her youth was being put away so that she may look upon life as an adult. At first he had believed that her trip to the Underground had indeed freed her from her delusions that real life was like a fairy tale, but when she spoke in her mirror to her friends about still needing them in her life, he knew that it was all just an act she was using to fool herself. He watched all of this and continued watching until all of her companions left to return to the Underground. He watched as she put things back in their origional positions, carressing each doll and stuffed animal with love as she set them down, again assuring him that she was no where near growing up yet. He watched as she decided to leave most of the mess until tomorrow and got ready for bed. His mismatched eyes grew darker as he watched her strip and prepare herself for bed. He watched as she slid under the covers, and then he moved.
