Blissful Betrayal

Blissful Betrayal

A/N: As per a reader’s request I have decided to write a version of the scene where Elizabeth kisses Jack and then chains him to the mast of the Pearl for the Kraken…it will be from Jack’s point of view and the thoughts that run through his head. Hope you enjoy it!

Disclaimer: Nope don’t own POTC or any of it’s characters…they belong to Disney so I’m not making any money off this or any of my other stories.

The muscles in my arms are burning with exhaustion as I desperately row farther away from the Black Pearl. After I’ve gotten quite a ways away from the damned ship I stop and look at her sadly. I’ve been through Hell and back to make her mine once again…can I really just abandon her? And what about my crew…no my friends? What about Elizabeth? Yes…Elizabeth…the little slip of a girl that has managed to steal my heart away from the moment I plucked her from the bottom of the harbor back in Port Royal. Sighing heavily I reach for my compass and open it. My eyes flick open and fall to the compass already knowing where the needle will be pointing. It pointed towards her…where it always pointed. With a frown I snap it back shut and replace it at my hip. Picking up the oars I begin rowing this time back towards the Pearl. I had to save her…to prove her wrong about me being a coward. I’m no coward…I’ll admit to running away from a fight…but it was strictly to remain alive…and who wouldn’t do that?

The longboat bumps up against the side of my beloved Pearl as I stand to reach for the rope hanging from the side to tie it off so it won’t drift away. Climbing up the side of the Pearl I hoist myself up over the railing to see a sad sight. My crew scurries around the deck like frightened little mice as the seemingly never ending tentacles of the Kraken rise up from underneath the Pearl. I run up onto the wheel deck my dark eyes scanning the deck for Elizabeth. Hanging from his ankle that’s caught up in the netting that holds barrels of rum is Will struggling to cut himself free. My eyes finally pick out Elizabeth as she steadies her arm to try and make a shot with the rifle she’s holding. My heart leaps into my throat as one of the Kraken’s tentacles wraps around her ankle dragging her to the floor of the deck knocking the rifle from her grasp. A shrill scream tears from her throat as she slides across the deck towards my cabin. I pray that she is able to get away as I reach for my pistol. After a moment I see Elizabeth reappear as she runs from my cabin. My heart sinks back down into my chest as I watch her run for the rifle once again to try and get the shot off to ignite the rum. The Kraken’s tentacles are slowly creeping up the main mast to wrap around the netting and barrels of rum as Will still struggles with the rope that is wound around his ankle.

Elizabeth scoops the rifle up and takes aim once more just as the Kraken’s tentacles slam into the deck rocking the Pearl to her core. The rifle flies from Elizabeth’s grasp to fall on the top step of the stairs leading to the wheel deck a few feet away from where I stand. She scrambles to her feet and bolts towards the stairs. I smile at her determination…it was after all one of the many reasons I loved her. Taking a step forward I step on the rifle just as Elizabeth reaches for it. She gives a hard tug making a frustrated grunt as she tries to pull the rifle out from under my foot. Her tea colored eyes shift up and a smile stretches across her dirty but still beautiful face as she recognizes me.

Letting go of the rifle Elizabeth reaches up and wraps her arms around me right leg clinging to me desperately as I reach down and pluck the rifle from the deck. Taking aim I squint against the sunlight to close in on my target. Will finally cuts himself free and falls to the deck just as I pull the trigger sending the rifle shot spiraling towards the netting holding the barrels of rum that are now entangled in the Kraken’s tentacles. A fiery blast thunders across the deck sending charred pieces of the Kraken’s tentacles flying in several directions. With a deafening roar it releases the burning barrels and netting to retreat back into the ocean. But it’s only going to take a moment to recover from the unexpected assault…we haven’t won this fight…not by a long shot. I reach down and pull Elizabeth to her feet flashing her a quick nod and smile as we walk back down onto the main deck to join the remainder of the crew that hadn’t been killed by the Kraken. I can still feel her eyes upon me as I walk to the very center of the deck. Gibbs approaches me from my left looking to me for answers.

“Captain…what be our plan?”

“Abandon ship into the longboat mate.”

Everyone falls silent…they cannot believe the words that have just come out of my mouth. As much as it saddens me I know it’s the only chance we have left of surviving.

“But Jack…the Pearl?”

“She’s only a ship mate.”

“Aye sir…abandon ship! Abandon ship or abandon hope!”

The crew scurries to gather the remaining rifles and start heading to the side of the Pearl to climb into the longboat. I walk over to the main mast of my beloved Pearl and gently caress the sturdy wood of it. I can’t believe it’s come down to this…after all I’ve been through to get her back. I can feel Elizabeth’s eyes burning into my back so I glance over my shoulder at her. She takes a few timid steps towards me.
“Thank you Jack.”

“We’re not free yet love.”

“No…but you came back…I always knew you were a good man.”

My dark eyes follow her warily as she closes the distance between us. What could possibly be running through that clever little mind of hers? My heart starts to beat faster in my chest as she takes the final step completely closing the distance between us. Reaching out she gently touches my arm making my heart miss a beat or two…or maybe three. Hell I’m so nervous now that I don’t even know it my heart is still even beating! Her tea colored eyes…warm with a hint of honey shift up to meet my dark pools making my insides start to feel as if they had been liquefied. Elizabeth tilts her face up towards mine as she stands on her tiptoes inching ever closer to me. She can’t be about to do what I think she’s about to do! Can she? No…she wouldn’t possibly want to kiss a man like me…not when she was supposed to be so in love with the whelp. Speaking of the whelp…where was he now? And then all coherent thought was blown away into oblivion the moment her lips touched mine. It was like a white hot searing almost blinding heat coursed through my entire body as she slanted her mouth over mine. My breath caught in my throat when her tongue darted out to slip inside my mouth and dance with mine. Unable to resist I reach out and grab her hips yanking her petite frame against my own. I smirk into her mouth as I hear her gasp when she feels the beginning of my arousal. I grind my hips against her eliciting a small whimper from her as she slants her mouth deeper over mine. I’m only vaguely aware of her right hand as it trails down my left arm. And then the loud unmistakable clink of metal snaps me from my stupor.

Elizabeth rubs the tip of her nose against mine as she fights the urge to crush her mouth to mine again. Her tea colored eyes are barely able to hold my gaze. She takes a shaky breath before speaking in a low whisper her breath hot on my face and neck she’s so close to me.

“It’s after you not the ship…it’s not us…this is the only way…don’t you see? I’m not sorry.”

I smirk down at her still feeling the tingling on my lips and in my loins from her scorching kiss.

“Pirate.”

Elizabeth leans in as if she’s going to press one last kiss upon my lips but then she backs away. There are tears in her eyes as she finally forces herself to turn and run to the side of the ship leaving me chained to the mast of the Pearl. So this is how it ends then? This is how I’m going to die? Not from a bullet or knife in the back or the coarse and unforgiving rope of a hangman’s noose…no from the one thing that I had only dared to dream of happening. A kiss from the woman I loved was to be my undoing…it would almost be comical if I weren’t about to be devoured by Davy Jones’ disgusting beast. I look over to the railing to see her pausing to give me one last mournful look as she begins climbing over the railing to get into the waiting longboat. She had betrayed me…of course I was no stranger to betrayal…but I had never imagined it would come from her. No matter…if I was to die…then so be it. After feeling the heat from Elizabeth’s mouth slanting over mine as she poured all of her soul into the kiss that sealed my fate I would gladly leap into the depths of Hell itself. I could die knowing that the woman I loved loved me back.

A/N: Well that was it…what was going through Jack’s head at that moment…in my opinion anyway. Hope you enjoyed it…please read and review!
