Star Wars, Mysteries of the force
[Time Set: After the KOTOR games, on the building towards Darth Bane's Reign]
A dim, dark silence filled the room, filled with men and women whom seemed to ooze force power, some dark some light, but what was darkness but a place where no light had been shone. They where the Order of Shadows, a council made up of both Sith and Jedi alike, with one goal to be heard of, peace. It was a difficult enough pretence to keep up within the galaxy as it was, for those to have peace, they would first require to have freedom, a freedom which can be brushed aside by the freedom of someone else’s. For years they had managed to avoid disrupting the natural flow of the galaxy, but the force was no longer silent, it spoken to them. The contact made through the Miraluka woman.
“The force is angry, my friends… Something must be done else we may have to say goodbye to the dream in which we share.” Her voice was rough, and coarse, an old woman now, once a name known and feared by all the Sith in the world. “But what should we do if we hope to grant the peace our galaxy deserves.”
“Lady Ishale Apinea, we must do exactly what this council was put together for, we must remove the figments within the force that is causing the unbalance that is clearly paining you mistress.” The male corillian’s voice was calm, peaceful, and almost tranquil as he spoke to her.
"Lord Slavian Finwej is correct, we must do our duties, if we do not, we would be letting down millions of spirits, and we can not allow such a travesty to occur.” This was a voice with authority, she was clearly extremely sure of herself, but would she get through.
“Yes, but how do we go about that Lady Zyras? The force is being extremely, how I put this… Very mysterious about those whom this unbalance is caused by. It is not for us to determine whom we should return to the force, for decades now the decisions have been made by the force itself.” Ishale’s voice wavered slightly as she spoke, shaken up by her age, the force was an extreme strain to her these days, but she did not hold it against anyone, she was doing a duty. The dark side had kept her alive for so long that she had no reason to feel resentment; she just hoped she could shyer through the force to see the truth. 'Who could the anomaly be? It’s certainly there, the force feels it, and has never lied to me.' “Research is needed, that it is, if we are to be sure of the decision in which we are to make. “
The other council members had remained silent during the entire discussion that troubled Ishale more than the anomaly in truth, the other council men and women’s silence was like a Zoist crawler digging in through her skin, burning her flesh away. Did they not approve of her leadership? Where they now, after five decades of being their seer, beginning to question her appointment at the lead of the Order?
Finally the lips of one of the councilmen began to part as if to speak his usual words of wisdom, Daxar Basai always seemed to know the right course of action to take. “Lady Ishale, you can not truly see what causes this unbalance” His fingers intertwining, as he leant his arms against his knees, leaning forward in his seat. “Are you sure you can see anything at all in the force or is it your own misguidance that is causing this anomaly in the first place?”
She was right, they where questioning her judgement, her position, a position she’d held for so long, she was barely in her 50’s when she was first appointed the leader, it wouldn’t be so bad if she was to step down now would it?
The man rose from his chair, unclipping his lightsaber from his belt. She now began to understand the oath she had made when she first joined. Separate from the galaxy, only in death shall be released. She would die here because they did not feel secure in her guidance; she had to accept that, it was her place to die when she was of no more use to the galaxy. Her eyes began to close in her mild acceptance of her fate. With a snap-hiss, his lightsaber came to life, ready to end hers, that was right wasn’t it? End her life… No, she had been taught for so long that her life never came to an end; she simply became one with the force.
Her eyes snapped open as the councilman brought his saber downwards towards her, only to be caught by the red glow of her own saber. “I am not ready to lose my life yet, not at your hands, or any of the others here. If the force willed it, I would give it all up, become one with it, or share an eternity with despair and pain, but it has not, now are you going to take a seat Basai? Or is it required of me to take your life?”
A smile returned to his lips, she was sure he had been convinced of her sincerity, but she could only feel the desperate wish to end her, the want, the need to destroy her… He had been corrupted and no one had seen it, no one could feel it. She was a Sith, she knew all about the corruptive properties of the force, but this was different, they had ascended above that, she stood shoulder to shoulder with Jedi, her worse enemy, without thought or whisper of betrayal. Now that was all she could feel, it was digging deep into her chest.
His lightsaber, drew back, the beautiful sapphire blue captivating her for a moment before feeling it swinging back towards her. Grasping her saber with both hands, she managed to block it, but the full force of the attack took its toll on her, her legs threatening to give way under her. She would refuse them, feeling the force enter through her body once more, energizing her. She pushed back against him, the red glow from her lightsaber brightening her face, an angry glare coming from her yellow eyes.
“I knew you could not hide away from the dark side for long, the evil in your eyes and your heart, your unwillingness to accept your fate is exactly what causes the unbalance to destroy the galaxy. If you step down now, you shall be forgiven for your insolence….” Basai said, his voice calm and diplomatic, as if he was truly fighting for the good of the order, but she knew different, he wanted the order for his own, but she wouldn’t allow it, she couldn’t allow it.
“The both of you stop it” The angry tone of Slavian voice causing a sudden halt in their actions. “This is not for the better of the order, if she was to die Basai, who would take the reins? You? Preposterous, remembering why she was named the leader in the first place.”
“I don’t think a birth right, a lack of normal vision replaced with true vision to be reason enough, she has been wavering for quite some time now. She is not in a place where she can truly command us any further. Ishale, your indecision, and a lack of vision are causing us to stand stagnant as…” The sound of snap-hiss’s surrounding Basai and Ishale. “… We have not been able to make a move on this unbalance, so tell me, how can you prove to me you are not this great unbalance you continuously speak of?”
“Me? The unbalance? That’s preposterous, how could I possibly become the unbalance if it is me whom has been guiding you to keep this world free of both Jedi and Sith who have been causing unrest in the force?” Ishale’s voice was getting more and more strained as she spoke, she was surrounded by those whom she saw as friends, lightsabers all pointing towards her, she would need to gain freedom from this place if she was to survive, and she would, this betrayal would not go unpunished. “Basai, your lies betray you, you want the order for yourself. You have been corrupted, maybe that is why I was unable to see the lack of settlement within the force, the cause of the distortion sat just beyond me, an enemy so close, but yet so far.”
“That is preposterous Ishale” Zyrus finally finding her voices, though the other council members still remained silent, but only for the hiss of their lightsabers moving from side to side. “Basai has done nothing but support you till now, but you’re speaking as if he is personally attacking you, he is simply expressing what some have thought for a while, though I do not agree with taking your life, we needed to get our feelings open to you.”
“Once you have stood down, we will look to do a vote on who should take you’re place, I am not interested in killing you simply to steal you’re position” Basai spoke up once more, his voice filling with anger as his words were expressed harshly.
“I do not accept that, this shall not be my grave” With a force enhanced jump, she managed to clear them group, landing softly at the door, before stumbling into the durasteel. “I am sorry, but I do will not be slain here through false accusations.” Raising her lightsaber towards Basai, “For this betrayal, your lives are forfeit.” With her free hand, she reached up, tugging at the roof above her, exerting effort through the force, she managed to strain it, before bringing it down, exiting the room before she was crushed. She didn’t believe for one minute that this would be the end, that she’d escape freely, but she was out, and she was ready to run and bring unbalance upon them.
'They were right about one thing, I will bring instability to them, and I shall not be stopped. The forces punishment shall be brought down upon them.'
“Ishale….” She heard the voice of her dearest friend, the one whom had betrayed her the worst moments before; she closed her sightless eyes and continued moving quickly through the hallways. They would be after her shortly.
This is going to be a long journey, thank you force for restoring the energy I thought I had lost. She thought as she took a deep, gratifying breath. The force was once more her ally, her path would be lain before her, she needed only follow. “I am not finished yet… I will bring the order I promised that I would” Where her last words as she ran out of the hallway, and onto her future.
