Take a Bow

Alright so this is my second stroy with a Rihanna song. I can't help it. Kinda of addicting. Once again no main plot just my mind running so fast I can barely catch it. Always fun.. Hmm actually you should put the song on repeat always fun.

Take a Bow

Ohh, how about a round of applause
Yeah, standing ovation
Oooh ohh yeah, yeah yeah yeah yeah

Sarah looked out the window of her apartment. Rain patter against the glass, causeing shadows to dance on the girl's face. Another day, another disappointment. Another boy, another lie. Sarah let the tears fall silently, as she always did. The only difference was the ring on her left finger. She was engaged. At least she had been. Every man she had ever been with had left with some excuse. All of them had hurt, but this had been the one to take away her nightmares and give her back her dreams.

Luke had been in her drama two class during her second year of college. He had been her knight upon a white steed. He had blond hair and the bluest eyes she had ever seen. Luke was tall and thin, but had muscles in all the right places. He was a modern day Goblin....White Knight. He had bewitched her, at least for awhile. Soon though the dreams began again. Mismatched eyes, long blond hair that glinted in the sunlight, and the smirk that could make your heart stop... or make you want to punch it right off.

He still haunted her mind.. at least only when she slept. Luke was going to make her heart stop the same way, and when he got down on one knee, he did. Sarah had cried and smiled, kissed and hugged. She played the part of the happily fianced perfectly. Only somewhere deep in her soul was a pain so great that it would have consumed her had she not become so keen to ignoring it. Luke was her happiness, until she had learned about Emily, Janice, Linda, Rachel, Michelle, and Lauren. Sarah had come home one night earlier then usual. Groans and the sound of a bed shaking came from the room she slept in. She already knew what she'd see. She didn't want to see it, but even as her brain screamed for her to leave her hand continued to reach for the doorknob.

She opened the door to find a blond woman bouncing on her soon to be ex-finace's penis. He was screaming ,"Lauren." at the top of his lungs. Sarah shook her head and felt the familiar twist of pain in her chest.
"Get out of my house." She said in a calm voice. Luke threw Lauren off and looked in horror at Sarah who only looked back. "Get out." Lauren looked confused.

"Who are you?" Lauren pulled the covers over her chest. "And what do you mean your house. This is Luke's" Sarah sighed.

"Get out of my house now. Both of you." Sarah picked up a pair of pants off the ground and threw it at the two. "By the way.. umm Lauren wasn't it. I'm Sarah. Luke's ex-finace. This is my house." Lauren raised her eyebrow.

"What do you mean. I've been Luke's girlfriend for 8 weeks. He never mentioned having a finace." Sarah's eyes widened.

"Oh really now, Luke. 8 weeks. You asked me to marry you 8 weeks ago. What the hell is wrong with you.... You know what. I don't care. Just go. Both of you." Lauren looked at Luke waiting for some form of denial. When none came she snapped.
"It's true? You. You said I was the only one for you, that you were going to ask me to marry you." Sarah rolled her eyes.

"Please continue this as you leave." Lauren picked up her clothes and left. Luke stood and opened his mouth to speak. "Get out." He frowned and left silently. Sarah looked at the bed in disgust and left to sleep on the couch. Tomorrow she would buy a new bed and rewelcome misery.

Jareth sat in wonder as he watched the scene above ground play out. His beloved Sarah had her heart set on this one it had seemed, and now she was crying watching the rain once more. It always seemed to rain when Sarah cried. The gloomy scene in the small crystal made Jareth furious and yet relieved. He hated to see Sarah cry but he also hated her with anyone but him. It had been over ten years since she had last graced the Labyrinth and its inhabitants.

Sure she had dreamed of them, but soon that's what his world had become.... a dream. Sarah's happy place in a sense. Jareth had watched her for so long now that he knew her every thought when it came to the Labyrinth. Hoggle. Ludo. Everyone. The only thing he didn't know about was if she ever thought of him. He had been watching her fall in love, and he watched as she broke down over and over again. Now Jareth was greedy and got everything he had ever wanted... well except Sarah, but he swore that if she was his he'd never leave her to cry. He wanted only her. His Sarah. He watched as she cried and sighed. "Come back someday." He whispered to himself.

You look so dumb right now
Standing outside my house
Trying to apologize
You're so ugly when you cry
Please, just cut it out

Above ground Sarah wiped her eyes as she watched the last of Luke's stuff get packed into the car. Luke looked up and waved. Sarah just shook her head. "You're so stupid. I... can't believe I fell for that again. I.. I just wish.." Jareth's face popped into her mind. His mismatched eyes, his blonde hair..... Sarah shook her head. "I wish I could dream." She turned from the window and slipped through the empty house. Memories seemed to seep through the walls and Sarah was caught in them. Only there was no room for Luke in them only....," the Underground." Sarah whispered.

"I... I wish." She shook her head. "There's no time for dreams in this world. Only the reality of falling and crashing." Still the lure of her old red leather bound book called. It's presence drifted from the box in the attic and seemed to wrap it's hand of wonder and advernture around her. She was trapped. "This is stupid." Even as the words came from her mouth she pulled down the ladder that lead up to the attic. "Great I'm shifting through the years of junk to find a memory."

She opened a box and pulled out some old clothes. Including a fimilar top and pants. Undeneathe an old dress she had role played in was the book that haunted her childhood memories. "Strange." Sarah whispered. The box was old and rotting and the clothes were worn and yellowed with age, but in her hands was a book that looked as if she had just put in on the shelf after dreaming of her adventure in the Underground. No dust, no age, nothing. Sarah shook off the strange feeling of being watched.

She sighed and opened the book. The first page she landed on was the part where the girl and the Goblin King faced off. "You have no power over me." Sarah whispered. "Heh I'm such a lier." The memory of the final face off, the echo of his words, everything was piling up on her.

Sarah began drifting. The world of dreams and reality began swirling and blending. Soon the question rose in her mind. It was a dream....wasn't it? "Of course it was." She shut the book and sighed. It was all a dream of a young girl. She had to face the facts and resume with the life she was given. No Goblin King here, plenty of goblins though. She went back downstairs, the book tucked into her pocket.
