Gone to Pieces
1st Author's Note: There is a dirth of Leon/Letty fiction on the net. I am going to try and change that.
2nd Author's Note: This is set after the 1st movie, and even though I can recognize Letty's death as a plot device in the last movie, I refuse to accept it. Therefore, Letty is alive and kicking in this version. I guess that makes it an alternate universe...

Letty kept her eyes on Leon as he stared out the window at the Pacific Ocean. The sun was so bright the sand was blinding. To anyone else, he looked perfectly calm, but Letty could see his jaw clenching and unclenching. She winced when breathing caught her ribs the wrong way. She ignored the blood in her mouth. Still, Leon didn’t move. Letty forced herself to sit up and reach out to Leon.
Leon looked over his shoulder at Letty, wondering how everything had just suddenly gone so completely to shit. He wasn’t too upset about Vince getting shot – well, yeah he was, but given the situation, it wasn’t entirely out of left field. He could even deal with Brian’s betrayal – given the situation, Brian had a job to do, which he had done, including finding a way to give them an out. Leon sighed, taking Letty’s hand in his. He could only hope Mia wouldn’t end up in jail but he was pretty sure Brian would see to it that she didn’t. But Jesse and Vince…who would bury Jesse? And was Vince still alive? And where the fuck was Dom? Leon could have gotten Vince off that truck – Dom should have gone back for his woman.
And that’s when it hit Leon. He raised his eyes to Letty’s and couldn’t help the spark of ache in his heart at what he saw in her eyes – pain, anger and abandonment. She tightened her grip on his hand.
“How much you got?” She asked. Leon cleared his throat.
“About six large.” He replied. Letty nodded her head.
“I got seventy one. So, we got money to rent a place and eat.” She murmured. Leon nodded. He hated Mexico, especially since it was getting so dangerous on account of the drug runners.
“We’ll be better off if we don’t stay in Mexico. You okay if we head south?” She asked. Leon nodded, forming his own plan. He had forgotten that Letty didn’t much care for her native land – she had grown up in America, despite frequent visits, she considered herself American.
“Costa Rica?” He suggested. Letty considered it.
“Not much of a racing scene there.” She replied.
“How ‘bout we lay low for a while, and just make an honest living for a bit? In a year or so, we can hit the scene again.”
He didn’t know how that would go over, but he was hoping Letty was banged up enough to want to lay low for a while. He was gratified when she nodded to his proposal. He acquiesced when she patted the bed for him to sit next to her.
