Happy Valetines day
Tom stared into Sarah's eyes as she held the gun out, warily watching both himself and Axel.
"I'm not the killer Sarah, you know it." Tom stated and Sarah had a look of confusion, unable to decide who it really was. Axel's face relaxed slightly and he frowned more, and Tom suddenly had a very bad feeling.
"Then you'll have to shoot us both, it's the only way to be sure." Tom felt like he had been hit with ice water, he hadn't intended Axel to get harmed, it was why he was here in the first place.
"No, don't shoot Sarah!" he cried out and him and Tom both shouted at her. Sarah didn't seem to know what to do still, her arms shaking slightly.
"Wait, what about the be mine 4ever written in blood, it was the same as what Megan wrote to Axel in the Valentine" Tom immediately regretted what he had said when Sarah pointed out it should have been impossible for him to know what was on the note, let alone the crime scene. Sarah's finger flexed on the trigger and glared uneasily at him. Tom couldn't stop the smirk from twisting his smile and he rushed forward, yanking Sarah's arms up so she shot the cave ceiling and fell back onto the ground. Axel stared in shock but was quick to lunge at Tom, only to be pinned to the wall by Tom himself. Sarah's eyes were closed but she was still breathing, so still alive, and Axel let out a sigh of relief.
"It was stupid really, how easily all the clues I left for you were misread." Tom was still smirking, pinning Axel a bit harder into the cave wall.
"It is Valentines day after all Tom, can I not give you a valentine now a days and not be hunted like an animal for it?"
------flashback------------
Axel kicked the door to his father's cabin shut and then pulled Tom back in for a kiss, grinding against him. Tom gripped him close, trying to maneuver them to the old couch.
Axel growled and pulled away, yanking his shirt off. Tom was quick to follow suite, then was tackled to the couch, only for it to tip over and knock them off the back of it onto the hard wood floor. They both looked at each other and laughed, Axel stretching out next to him.
"Guess it serves us right, the evenings young and it's valentines day yet we're ready to skip to the end of the evening." Tom chuckled and the the heat in the room died down a bit. Tom got up, walking over to the kitchen and then pulling something out of the cupboard and then returned to Axel.
"Got you something" he grinned and handed him a Valetines box of chocolates. Axel blushed a bit and took it, trying not to look too impressed.
"What am I? A chick now?" he smiled none the less and read the little card attached. "hmmm though the card seems a little less romantic."
"Yeh well, your still a dude, no reason to write you Shakespearean poetry." Tom grinned toothily as Axel dug into the box.
"Happy Valentines day Axel."

Axel's face was pale as the memories washed over him, memories of happier times and then being caught together by the sheriff, threatened into breaking up. Tom's grip loosened a bit when he saw the look on Axel's face.
"I should have known, you may have acted like you were head over heels for Sarah but you were never one to go out of your way to give her gifts. Why the fuck did you have to go and do all this Tom, you left, what the hell happened?!" Axel had a hard time controling his voice and Tom gave him a odd look.
"That night changed me Axel, started to realized how close I was to losing everything. I snapped I guess, got sent to a nut house, but all I could think about was I had almost died and for a sham of a life. When they let me go I had hoped you would have waited, never thought you would settle down. I felt angry, like I needed to prove how much I loved you. I saw Irene, and just snapped, I didn't think it through much, the hearts seemed the right idea and then I so Sarah." he smiled at the thought, "She was suppose to be the grand finale for your Valetines gift, but she managed to get away." Axel squirmed a bit, uneasy beneath the madman his lover had become, yet he couldn't hate him. He was still Tom, still the one he had spent nights under the stars with, the one who has warmed him on cold days and he couldn't just forget that, not even after so many years.
A sound caught their attention as Sarah started to wake up, she saw Axel pinned to the wall and grabbed the gun, aiming at Tom.
"Get away from him Tom, I'll shoot!" Tom started to move away, his hand moving slowly as if not wanting to release the hold he had on him. Sarah's eyes were hard as she got up, making sure to keep the gun aimed on Tom as she moved towards Axel. She briefly looked over Axel and then tried to get him to move away from the wall, handing the gun to Axel.
"Only one bullet left Axel, use it well." she whispered, though Tom could hear him well enough. Axel looked at the gun and then up at Tom, his finger flexing against the trigger slightly.
"Do it Axel, better you then her" he moved forward and all sound seemed to be sucked out of the area. Axel felt his finger push the trigger and it was suddenly too loud, the sound of the click, the shot, the bullet soaring and hitting the target, and the sound of flesh slamming into the ground. Blood pooled quickly around their feet and things got a little blurry from there.

The ambulance workers pushed the black bag the rest of the way into the ambulance, it's distinctive shape not hiding that there was a corpse in there. The sirens of cop cars flashing and shining across Tunnel 5's sign, casting it in eerie red lights, as people ran about below it, securing the area.
"Poor girl, heard she jumped in front of the bullet in her grief, died right next to that copy cat killer." the ambulance worker whispered to the other one.
"Then the cave in caused by the stray bullet, it was lucky the sheriff managed to only escape with a few cuts and bruises." Axel was sitting in another ambulance and his cuts from the cave in were being bandaged.
"I'd say your done here, be safe on your way home Tom, sure you don't need a ride?" Tom shook his head in reply and headed off towards the group of miners who were leaving the scene, walking with one as they got into the forest the miner pulled off his mask, grinning at him.
"Happy Valentines day Tom."
