Return to the Labyrinth
Based off a fanfic challenge I found. Fifteen year old Jamie hates her life-her parents don't love her, her teachers are all out to get her, and her sister is far from an Angel despite her name though she's the only one to see it. So when she wishes that what she saw in the movie The Labyrinth was true and who shows up? Jareth of course and he is determined to get his Goblin Queen once and for all.
1: Days of Hell
It had been another wonderful day at school. As usual, her teachers had killed her with homework. Now she was sitting at the back of the bus, alone, as usual, just like she spent her lunch times alone. It bumped and hit every pot hole, made every turn a little harder so that Jamie had to hold on to the seat to keep from sliding off. Finally she reached her bus stop. Climbing off she sighed as she jumped off the last step and started to walk home.
In truth, home wasn't much better than school. If anything it was worse. Because her sister Angel was the star no matter where she went. At school she was pretty, popular, and captain of the cheer leading squad. At home it was upped another level. She was perfect and nothing would change that in her parent's eyes. Only Jamie knew the truth about her sister that she was pure evil and there wasn't a single decent thing about her.
As she walked she thought of the movie she had watched over the weekend-The Labyrinth. She wished for a place like that a place to escape, where magic was real and of course...Him. She blushed and for once was grateful she was an outsider. He had been beautiful with his piercing blue eyes, messy blonde hair, and voice like an angel. She sighed softly. Such people and places though did not exist. She walked inside and straight up-stairs to her room.
It was later that night, another battle with Angel that had left Jamie totally pissed off and ready to kill so instead she threw herself on her bed and screamed inside her pillow. Once she was done with that, she got up and sat at her mirror. She sighed and brushed at her tears, sighing softly. Once more the tears escaped and she cried softly. "I wish it was real! I was Jareth was real and that he would take me away from this awful place!" She sobbed hysterically and said "I wish the Labyrinth was real!" Little did she know she would soon get her wish.
Time stopped-not just figuratively but literally. Jamie looked around and knew something was off. Something was different. And then she saw him. He stood far taller than her, his eyes that same piercing blue, his hair the same blonde, and his clothes the same all black. She gasped in surprised and tripped over her chair as she stood up quickly. "Who are you?" The man chuckled, at once cold and humorous.
"You already know the answer to that." And she did. She whispered it so softly.
"Jareth." He bowed and smiled. Again it was chilling and humorous at the same time. "Why are you here?"
"You called for me, did you not? It's all real, the Labyrinth, me, it all exists." With the blink of an eye, they were standing in front of the labyrinth. Jamie gasped. Jareth threw her a crystal ball. "I will give you two days to solve my labyrinth. If you succeed you may go free. If not you are to remain here with me. Forever." She shivered and looked at the ball. As she did so she thought of her family. Would they even notice if she was gone? Would they care? As she looked up Jareth had disappeared. She sighed and started towards the maze still questioning her decision.
