The Next Generation
Sarek watched the young cadet's movements from afar, an obsession he could not say was in any shape or form logical. The young man with the dark hair and dark eyes that reminds him so much of his Amanda stands in the bright Academy hallway, hands fidgeting with the clasps of his red and white uniform nervously as he discusses the latest lecture with two other males that have gathered around him while the soft musical accent of the man's European origin evident in every word unusually echoes in the crowded hallway. Every now and then, the man seems to sense he is being watched and looks around him but he does not connect the presence in his mind with that of the Ambassador.
Amanda's temper, Amanda's compassion, and Amanda's love of art are all there in this Jean Luc Picard and the urge to rush forward and claim this male as Amanda is staggering.
Sarek had never before believed in reincarnation of any soul before until he felt the phantom pull of a mate in his mind a month ago when he had entered the Academy to assess the progress of his eldest grandson, So'ark Adam Kirk, who was top of his class as was expected. It was during his 'tour' of So'ark's classes that he met the human Jean Luc Picard, who was the teacher's assistant in the archaeology department and instantly the source of the phantom feeling was discovered.
Under the guise of assisting the Academy in prepping its facility for more Vulcan recruits, Sarek had been able to watch the Frenchman without his presence in the halls being questioned by anyone other than his grandson, who knew his grandfather had been behaving 'uncharacteristically erratic.'
"Jean!" one Andorian cadet had cried out as they jogged up to the small group of humans. Sarek had often seen the Andorian male with Jean before and did not like him one bit, which Sarek supposed partly the deeply ingrained cultural prejudice and partly the fact that the young cadet did not war a Shapla, the locket of Andorian bondmates.
"Fogelth?" Jean replied, stepping aside to make room for the Andorian in the small circle.
"There is a new bar opening up about 30 yards away tonight. They're having two free drinks for each customer for the first three hours. Would you like to come with me?"
Jean smiled, "Sounds good."
Sarek did not think it sounded good at all.

Sarek's suspicions were proven to have foundation when he was informed Jean Luc Picard was forced to engage in a brawl outside the bar due to the Andorian's drunken insulting of a group of Klingons. The Andorian had been rendered partially blind due to loss of a stalk and Jean Luc had just avoided being killed by a knife to the chest and was wounded in the shoulder.
Sarek soon found himself acting as Ambassador of the Federation for the incident and, consequently, working closely with Cadet Picard at his side. After a day of council, the Klingons were pacified with the promise that the Andorian cadet Fogelth would face significant consequences as the true instigator of the event.
Picard, who according to both parties had merely stepped in when his friend had been wounded and stopped his friend's death, would visit the Klingon home world at their request. Sarek, as an Ambassador of both New Vulcan and the Federation was asked by the unusual Klingon Commander to accompany them.
Sarek, having no other current obligations to prevent him from doing so, accepted.
Sarek had been surprised by how much Klingon culture paralleled that of the Romulans and Sarek may have found it easy to distract himself from young Picard with the Anthropological comparisons between the two. However, young Picard proved to be just as fascinated as himself and often accompanied him around the Klingon city, the unusual figure they cut receiving stares from the city's inhabitants.
It was not until Sarek and Jean Luc had stopped at a Klingon food market that he realized from one vendor's off comment that they were thought to be a mated pair by many in the population. Sarek was pleased to note Jean Luc did not seem adverse to the idea of two males together like the young doctor McCoy had been regarding his son Spock's relationship with James Kirk.
Soon, it was time to return to the Federation and the amount of time Sarek had spent away from New Vulcan occurred to him. Five months, seven days, twelve hours Terran time. In two weeks, the time of Amok would be upon him. It took three weeks by Klingon warbird to reach Terra.
How could Sarek have been so remise in his planning? How could Sarek's mind be so easily distracted with this reincarnation of his Amanda? Regardless, Sarek's only option was to inform the Klingon Commander Kurn of his predicament and retreat to his quarters. The Commander had laughed at such 'stiff creatures as Vulcans having a sexual frenzy' but had agreed to keep it quiet in return for a small amount of Federation credit.
So for the voyage to Terra, Sarek remained in his quarters meditating and concentrating on willing his body to ignore its primal urges.
However, when the fever was upon his and Jean Luc Picard dared to enter his room on the second day, Sarek could not help but kiss him.
Jean kissed back and soon the two were engaged in 'a sexual frenzy.'

The Vulcan council did not approve the mating. His son's mating had only been approved due to his already polluted blood and although the council had not pressed Sarek to mate again, they stated they would prefer him unmated as opposed to contaminating the Vulcan race again. Sarek reluctantly was forced by obligation as an elder of the few remaining Vulcans to leave his new mate behind. Jean Luc had understandably been angry and hurt. Sarek retreated behind his Vulcan mask of apathy and did not return from it for some time.
Sarek did not tell his son Spock of his mating nor the separation before returning to New Vulcan but Spock's eyes told him he sensed something was wrong.
A month after his time, Sarek felt the whisper of another's conscious in himself. Upon closer inspection, he found the whisper to be that of his unborn daughter. The emotion of love for the child was so strong, it over-rid any logic. Sarek hid his pregnancy from the council until the term allowed for termination had passed. When he informed them, the emotional rage of the elders in the room had been so heavy Sarek had been taken back. The council ordered Sarek to perform his duties as a member of an endangered race and take a Vulcan mate by three months after he was to give birth.
Knowing his daughter would never be accepted on New Vulcan and not wanting to see history repeated, Sarek contacted Jean Luc and informed him of his impending fatherhood. Jean Luc had not taken it well. The human had demanded that Sarek return to raise their daughter with him and when Sarek had attempted to explain his duty to his endangered race, Jean Luc had screamed and cussed and threatened Sarek's future mate. Then Jean Luc had burst into uncharacteristic tears and crumbled before the image screen.
Sarek waited until Jean Luc had collected himself and then related he would inform the human of his daughter's birth and when he could take her back to his home in France. If Jean Luc did not wish to take her, he would send the infant to his son Spock, who admitted after being informed of his sibling he would not be unconvinced by the new addition to his family. Jean Luc refused the offer to allow his daughter to be 'taken away' as well. Then he ended the communication.
When T'Akila was born with beautiful green complexion, delicately pointed ears, brown eyes and curly auburn hair, Sarek informed Jean Luc of the event. Jean Luc then proceeded to board the next ship to New Vulcan to retrieve her. For the two weeks he waited for Jean Luc, he grew even more attached to the ascetically pleasing infant. He held her with affection that made his future mate Skolt frown at the emotional quality of his actions, but thankfully Skolt said nothing.
Jean Luc barely said anything to Sarek as he took his little girl into his arms for the first time after descending the first Klingon Warbird on New Vulcan. The young man was just barely holding himself together as he asked if there were any medical problems he needed to know about. Thankfully, T'Akila, now renamed Angelique Picard by her father, had no evident health problems or future problems other than a 30.578% chance of reproductive sterility as a hybrid.
After the supplies of the Warbird were restocked and the child's things gathered, Sarek held his daughter's hand for the last time before he was forced to watch them leave. The Klingon Commander Kurn took Sarek aside briefly after Jean Luc had retreated into the ship.
"In my culture, by refusing as a mother to acknowledge your mate and child, you bring shame upon their house. Do you expect such an honorable mate to live with such shame?" Kurn asked.
"This is the logical course of action," Sarek said simply.
"But is it the right course of action? I would not allow my son Mogh to suffer such dishonor."
"This is what is best."

Sarek did not see his daughter again for forty years until Jean Luc had become the new famous captain of the Enterprise and his daughter was considered a renowned doctor. By that time, he had born Skolt seven sons before Skolt had passed on.
Neither acknowledged his past with them. Sarek did not expect any different.
