Strange Sisters
Strange Sisters
It was hard work being a twin, always sticking up for your other half, always being compared to eachother. It was especially hard being India's twin. They were both beautiful and they were both strange. India moreso then Indigo but other then a difference in temperament and looks there were very few differences between the sisters. India had brown hair that fell straight and only lightly brushed her shoulders, her dark eyes looked exactly like their fathers rich brown ones. Indigo looked somewhat different from her sister. Much like their father she had black hair, but instead of it being straight like her sisters it was wavy like their mothers and it fell half way down her back, Indigo also had their mothers crystalline blue eyes. India had always told her she looked more like mother then father, and when ever she said that her lip curled slightly in jealousy, India would never say it but she didn't think she was beautiful, she thought she was to coarse and wild to be truly pretty. Indigo liked that about her sister. Liked the wilderness and mystery that surrounded her, loved the fact she went hunting with father and knew how to shoot a gun. But try as she might Indigo never was as wild, she never could bring herself to shoot an animal. A person, well that was another story. She had one person in particular she wanted to shoot. Everyday when the sisters would walk home, their matching to tight shoes clicking slightly as they met the ground, they would be greeted by none other then the anti Christ himself. But he went by the name Chris Pitts, unfortunately he also went to most of their classes and it seemed like he thought it was his job to make their life hell. Anymore now he left Indigo alone knowing that she would say something witty and throw him of guard. No, his main target was India, because no matter how many crude notes or mean words he spoke she never did, she just never gave him the satisfaction. She thought perhaps he was attracted to them, the "strange sisters" as they were often called, and he was paying attention to them they only safe way he could, by picking on them. It didn't make it okay though. But even the thought of Chris couldn't bring her down today. It was the strange sisters eighteenth birthday today, it was the day that they were officially women.
"India?" Her sister looked over at her, the wind ruffling their hair.
"Yes?"
"Every year he puts our present up higher. Do you think maybe he put it up in our tree?" India smiled as wide as she ever did.
"Its worth a look, C'mon." They both grabbed the shoes that they had taken off moments before and set of running towards the familiar tree. India beat her to it and started climbing but stopped short.
"There's only one box here Indigo... And both our names are on it."
"Well hold on and I'll climb up so we can open it." As soon as both sisters were perched they eagerly opened the box. It was not the new pair of matching shoes they were both accustom to but a brass key on a long gold chain. They both looked at eachother.
"I think you should wear it India, I already have a necklace on, id look silly with two." She touched the pearl necklace mother had got her only a few days before. It was an early present.
Her sister smiled in thanks and put it on.
"We better get going, im sure father is back and he's waiting for us to blow out our candles." And with that they hopped down with all of the grace of a cat and ran to the house. Immediately they both knew something was wrong, it only made it worse when their mothers pained voice rang out.
"RICHARD!!"
