“You didn’t waste any time, did you?” Lisa taunted, as Richard flopped his lean form down in his chair. He raised an inquisitive brow at her.

“Hello, Lisa. Nice to see you too.”

“So, who is she? Your new girlfriend.” Lisa was looking at him quizzically, her books and pens already spread out on the desk in front of her.

“Jealous?” Richard drawled.

“As if,” she scoffed. “We broke up, remember?”

“Then why are you asking?” Richard’s mischievous eyes glittered like blue diamonds.

“Well, duh, look at you. It’s a bit impossible to miss. You may as well have a big sign hanging around your neck saying, ‘I got laid last night.’”

Richard couldn’t help the self-satisfied grin from spreading on his face. “As a matter of fact, I did. And it was good.”

Lisa made a sound of disgust. “Please. I don’t want to hear the gory details.”

Richard shrugged easily and fluidly. “Hey, you brought it up. And what can I say? I’m irresistible.”

“Now, I recall why we broke up,” Lisa said dryly, flicking her long blonde hair over her shoulder. “I didn’t want to get caught in a love triangle between you and yourself.”

“Ouch! That hurt.” Richard placed a hand over his chest, as if his ex-girlfriend had mortally wounded him. He was still smiling though. Nothing was going to ruin his good mood today.

And his smile widened as Justin’s lanky figure loped into the class room and took his seat.

Justin glanced at Richard automatically, as he always did in the morning to make sure he was there, and did a double take. Richard was wearing an open-collared shirt and right there on his throat was a very dark bruise on display for everyone and their dog to see.

A love bite.

The same love bite Justin had given him last night. He stared, unable to believe Richard’s brazen audacity. The son of a bitch wasn’t even trying to hide it! At least Justin had the sense to wear a turtle neck to cover his own hickey. If both of them had shown up sporting matching bruises, it wouldn’t take long for their classmates to put two and two together. And nobody must know what went on thght ght before. Nobody must know about the "experiment".

Not ever.

He glared at Richard, letting him know exactly how he felt about the vulgar show. Richard just grinned at him and stretched, pretending to yawn, tilting his head to the side to expose more of his neck and idly rubbing at the purple mark, making damn sure Justin could see it. Richard winked quickly at him, unseen by anyone else, not even Lisa and Justin jerked his gaze away, feeling himself grow semi-hard. He cursed to himself. How could such a small gesture like a wink convey such a heavy sexual overtone?

Heat flushed into Justin’s body with the memory of Richard’s warm half-naked weight on top of him, his hot, wet mouth sucking hungrily on his throat and how he had let Justin give him a hickey in return. At the time he had fleetingly wondered at the unusual offer, as Richard was quite fussy about his appearance and detested any kind of blemish marring his smooth tanned skin.

Now Justin knew why. So Richard could strut around like a peacock, pleased with the visible evidence of his prowess and virility. Richard had managed to turn what had been an intimate moment between them into a slutty teenage badge proclaiming he’d gotten his dick wet. It was deplorable.

“Hey, Pendleton.” Justin’s head came up at the sound of Richard’s mocking voice and his heart started to pound.

“Why are you wearing a turtleneck? You got a love bite too? Did you get lucky last night? Huh?”

Richard’s handsome face was full of mirth, clearly enjoying Justin’s distress. He had a pen in his long fingers and he brought it up to his mouth, chewing on it slowly and toying with it, with a huge amount of erotic innuendo.

Justin stared at him with wide blue eyes, fear filling his gut in a cold wave. Oh God, what was Richard trying to do now?

“Stop it, Richard.” Lisa’s tone was exasperated. “Leave him alone for Chrissakes. You’re such a prick.”

Richard smirked. “On second thoughts, who’d ever give a geek like you a hickey?”

Justin scowled at Richard’s smug expression. He was gonna pay for all of this later. Oh, Justin would make certain of that.

“I bet that’s not even real,” Justin shot back scornfully. “You probably gave yourself that with the vacuum cleaner.”

Lisa laughed delightedly at Justin’s scathing comment and Richard bit back his own laugh, impressed with the untrue, yet nevertheless cutting comeback. When he wanted to, Justin could be just as sardonic and insulting as Richard. Sometimes even more.

“You never answered my question.” Justin heard Lisa ask. “Who is she?”

Richard turned back to her. “I’m not telling,” he said flippantly.

“Oh, come on,” Lisa pleaded, dying to know who had replaced her. “I bet you’ve told all your buddies. Isn’t that what you guys do? I bet you’ve told them everything by now.”

“As a matter of fact, I haven’t,” Richard told her, looking a trifle irritated at her presumption. “And I’m not going to either. It’s nobody’s business, not even yours.” Then he lightened up and flashed that sexy, wicked grin he was so good at.

“All you need to know, my dear Lisa, is that the person who gave me this love bite is the most incredible, gorgeous, amazing thing ever.”

At those unexpected words of praise, Justin’s heart did a back flip in his chest.

“Wow.” Lisa sounded tremendously surprised. “I’ve never heard you talk about anyone like that before, Richard. It must be serious.”

“Yeah,” Richard replied, sounding a little surprised himself. “Yeah, I think it is.”

“It’s Drew, isn’t it?” Lisa questioned, still desperate to get a name behind the hickey-giver. “It’s gotta be her.”

“Nope.”

“Mercedes?”

“Nuh uh.”

“Oh, I know. Alyson.”

Richard chuckled. “Give up, Lisa. You’re never gonna get it.”

At that moment the teacher loudly told everyone to stop talking and open their books at page twenty-seven and there was a lot of rustling and all conversation ceased as the lesson began.

Justin turned slightly to look at Richard once more and found the other boy gazing at him intently. Richard smiled at him and it wasn’t a smirk or a cruel twist of his lips, but a small, gently teasing smile, tinged with playful humor, a hot, delicious shared secret and…

Something else.

Something Justin couldn’t quite put his finger on, but whatever it was, it made him blush and smile back.
