Inner Turmoil
Title - Inner Turmoil
Author - Rina76
Rating - R
Summary - Danny Balint isn’t quite sure what he is.
Disclaimer - This character is not owned by me.
***
Often, he wonders what would happen if they discovered his secret. His heart pounds in his chest like a trapped bird at the thought and his mouth goes dry with fear. What would they do to him? Shoot him? Cut his throat? Beat his head in with a baseball bat? Hang him from a tree? Burn him alive? Would it be quick? He didn’t think so.
Not after the way he deceived them. They would all take great pleasure in torturing him first. They think he’s their friend. They think he’s one of them. They think he’s a Nazi. And he is.
But he is also a Jew.
He hates himself. He hates what he is and what he isn’t and what he can never be. He despises himself so much he wants to die.
He stares at himself naked in the mirror. Staring back at him is an angry young man with closely cropped hair, angular face, intense blue gaze and clenched jaw. His body is hard and ripped, lean and strong with a big black symbolic tattoo on his right shoulder that has no meaning anymore. Wut hut his steel capped boots, white T-shirt, jeans and suspenders on, he has no identity.
He is nobody. He doesn’t know where he belongs, only that it isn’t here. Who is he? What does he want? What is the point of it all?
He drives his fist hard into the mirror, shattering the glass into a million pieces and slicing his knuckles. Blood drips onto the floor. He doesn’t feel a thing.
There are two facts he knows for sure.
One, he is nothing.
And two, he is going to be found out. Sooner or later.
The thing is, he actually wants it to be sooner. Because if he is caught, he will be killed.
And if he is killed, he won’t have to do it himself.
END
Author’s note: Holy shit, Ryan Gosling blew me away with his stunning performance in The Believer. I thought he was amazing in Murder by Numbers, but in this he was just simply incredible. *worships*
