To Catch a Blacksmith


Will Turner- master blacksmith- often found his thoughts drifting towards his grand adventure.

Breaking out an infamous pirate from prison, stealing, no- 'commandeering', a Navel vessel, sailing from a pirate port with a pirate crew, nearly being blown up, almost sacrificed to ancient Aztec blood gods to end an age old curse, and saving said infamous pirate from the hangman's noose, well, it made everything else seem somewhat dull.

He forced away thoughts of Sparrow and of smouldering black eyes. He sighed, raking a hand through dark, sweaty, shoulder length hair. Stepping to the shuttered window, he made it certain it was latched. There was a chill in the air, he'd removed his jacket earlier in the day, the heavy anvil work being much too hot to wear a jacket all day.

Will yawned, jaw cracking. It had been a long hard day, but his work was nearly complete. Norrington had commissioned a sword, and Will hoped it to be a work of art; as beautiful an art piece as it was deadly.

Wandering back into the main room, he brushed by the anvil, making sure his tools were where they were supposed to be, in their designated spots.

He jumped and spun towards the window when, outside, a cat screeched. He laughed at himself for being so jumpy, laying a hand on his chest, over his rapidly beating heart.

"Akk" He stumbled back a step, nearly twisting his ankle as he stepped wrong.
At the door, unheard, stood three of the largest, ugliest men he'd ever laid eyes upon. At least, Will thought they were men. Perhaps they were some sort of troll, he thought absently.

The first stepped forward, sword drawn "Will Turner?" His voice was gravely and harsh.

Eyes wide, the young man moved a little to the left, closer to the sword rack. He had a bad feeling about this. "No." he denied the truth.

"He is." the smallest of the men said in a high-pitched, grating voice.

"Get out." Will demanded, pulling two swords to the ready.

In seconds, Will had all three men engaged in a fight. The thin youth knew he could take them; not a month had passed since he'd fought three immortal pirates in a swag filled cave.

He moved quickly and smoothly, but still he crossed blades more often then he liked with the strangers, the blades clanging and throwing sparks. Will's once white shirt was now sticky with sweat, and was torn in several places, and he panted heavily. He didn't hear a forth man slip in the back door silently.

The fourth man looked around, and unsheathing his sword, stepped forward at just the right moment, catching the young blacksmith on the side of the head, knocking him out cold.

"Oy, we had him." The small pirate shouted in anger.

"The Cap'n sent me to see what the hold up was. He weren't too surprised, though, that the three of ya was taking so long." The fourth man growled at them. Bending over, he hefted the youth over his shoulder. "Lets go."

Blearily, Will opened his brown eyes; his head seemed to be rocking back and forth.
Wait, his entire body was rocking in a familiar rhythm. The young blacksmith was in a boat. Bound and gagged in the bottom of a long boat.

He realized he was bound when he attempted to sit up. Gagged when he tried to speak. Grimacing, he lifted his pounding head a few inches, trying to see. Before his vision blacked out completely he managed to see a large black ship. Recognition hit him like his anvil.
The Black Pearl!

Jack? The thought flitted across his mind before he passed out, head thunking the wood beneath his body as his eyes rolled back in the sockets.

"YO HO -HO- AN A BODDLE O' RUMMM!!"several pirates stumbled down the long wooden wharf.

The smallest pirate, maybe 3 and a half foot tall, leaned against a convenient piling and puked rum and very little food into the bay. When he straightened up, Mr.Gibbs, a mutton-chopped older man, passed him a small bottle so he could rinse his mouth out.

AnaMaria flipped her long raven hair over her shoulder, glancing around for her captain. She laughed at Mr. Gibbs as he discovered his leather flask, upon its return, was quite empty.

"Oy! Where'd we anchor the Pearl?" he exclaimed, "It's frightful bad luck to move the boat!"

Scowling AnaMaria looked around, if that blackguard Sparrow took off without them. She gasped "Hey.. Matheson!" She ran over and fell to her knees beside her crewmember. She knew they had left him watching the Black Pearl. Gently she lifted his head into her lap.

"Wha happened, man?" Gibbs knelt beside the woman.

The prone man coughed, spitting blood. "Man.. with.. monke.. Got the cap'n" His eyes rolled, he convulsed, the lay still. The life, like his blood, flowing out of his body.

Gibbs sat back on his heels, "Dear God, Barbossa's back!?!"

AnaMaria " An' he's got Jack!"

Her eyes locked with Gibbs and thoth oth came to the same conclusion. "Will!"
