Jack stood at the helce ace again gazing out over the big
blue sea he loved so much. It was a fine day to be alive, clear
skies, white clouds, cool breeze. To his heart's delight he noticed
a ship off in the distance. The entire incident with Barbossa had
cut their supply stocking trip short…..it was time to plunder again.
"Prepare yourselves men! We're going shopping!" He shouted
jovially, as the men cheered in response.
"What about Will?" Ana Maria asked from behind him
tu
turned to her and frowned.
"Oh yes," he mumbled contemplatively. Will was a lot better,
but he certainly wasn't in any condition to fight….hell he couldn't
remain standing for extended periods of time without pain, plus his
wrist was still broken. The youth had insisted on doing as much
around the ship as he could, but he still couldn't put in a full
day. "He's certainly not ready for a raid," Jack thought out loud.
"I could watch over him," she suggested, her protective
nature showing itself. Jack laughed and turned to her.
"Oh I don't doubt you could my lady….but you're one of my
best fighters and I need you up here," he complimented, biting his
nails as he pondered what was to be done.
"I can watch him while your busy, Captain," a sly voice
offered from seemingly out of nowhere. Ana Maria scowled, but held
her tongue.
"Thank you Craig that means a lot to me," Jack said
sincerely. Ana Maria grumbled to herself and glared at Craig's back
as the man walked away.
"There's something strange about him lately…..haven't you
noticed it?" she asked suspiciously, watching Craig's every
movement. Jack shrugged and checked his compass again, making sure
that they were still on course with the merchant vessel.
"I confess I haven't noticed much besides William these past
three weeks," he sighed, feeling ashamed at his lack of
responsibility. He didn't regret taking care of his lover….but he
shouldn't have neglected his ship as he had. She smirked and patted
him on the shoulder.
"I know. Don't worry about it….I can replace you any day,"
she threatened good naturedly, licking her lips in excitement. Jack
glared at her before his laughter escaped him and the pair shared a
chuckle.
"Back to work wench!" he teased, enjoying the gentle slap he
received as punishment. He knew Ana could have hit him /much/
harder.
"I don't care what you say….you /did/ deserve that!" she
quipped triumphantly as she headed down to help ready the men. Jack
smiled and maneuvered the wheel to make sure the target wouldn't get
away.
"What's going on?" the soft melodic voice of his lover
asked, coming up the stairs from the crew deck. He wobbled more than
most of the crew, his injuries affecting his sea legs. Jack turned
and wrapped an arm around Will's slight waist and pulled him close
against his side. He placed a gentle kiss to Will's cheek before
turning back to steering the Pearl.
He hated seeing his young lover in such a helpless condition. It was
starting to feel like déjà vu. He had spent an entire year trying to
build his lover up and teaching him to fight…all that work destroyed
in a few days. He knew the reason Will was pushing himself so hard
was to prove himself. To prove he was still worthy of his Captain's
affections. If only Will would realize that he could never lose
Jack's love…he was Jack's life.
"We're going to loot that there vessel," he explained,
tickling Will's side slightly. Will giggled and hopped as best he
could. "I want you to stay in my cabin, Craig is going to keep an
eye on you while the rest of us plunder out little black guts out,"
he beamed. Will frowned and rested his head against Jack's
shoulder.
"I'm of no use am I?" he asked, his voice full of self-
loathing.
"Only because you're injured. You know if you were in top
health I'd have you fighting right beside me…you're a master at the
sword," Jack reassured his young lover. "Your wrist alone would keep
you out of the fray, let alone," he paused, shaking the thought from
his head, "let alone the…/other/…injuries," he mumbled. Will shared
the shutter and nodded his head. They stood in silence for a moment
before Jack felt Will tremble slightly and sniffle.
"I promise I'll listen this time," he said, trying to hold
back his emotions. Jack felt his own getting the better of him and
turned to kiss Will with great fervor. He poured all the emotions he
feared would escape him into the one small gesture. It looked like
nothing but an act of lust to the outside world, but to the two
lovers it was an intimate sharing of their pain, fear, and love.
"How long before we catch up to them?" he asked curiously,
squeezing Jack's side. His older lover smiled and placed a kiss to
the top of his head.
"Not too long, an hour perhaps." Will nodded his head and
squeezed tighter.
"I just want to stay a little longer…..is that okay?" he
asked, sounding vulnerable. Jack smiled and stroked the side of
Will's face before leaning in to kiss him tenderly.
"Sounds wonderful."
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Jack lead Will back down into their shared quarters and
helped him to the bed. Will had been on his feet most of the day and
it had exhausted his injuries. It frustrated Will to no end. It
seemed his recovery was taking forever, when in actuality he was
doing quite well considering the extent of his wounds.
"Try and get some rest before the battle starts. I want you
to at least be alert in case anything goes wrong," Jack instructed,
pulling the covers up over his young lover's tired body. Will smiled
at him and leaned up for a kiss, it was gentle and intimate…Will's
favorite kind. "Craig will be watching over you while I can't.
Listen to what he says and you should be fine…I trust him." Will
nodded and nestled down into the warm cocoon of covers. It wasn't
long before he was sound asleep.
Jack smiled and placed a kiss to Will's forehead. He heard
the contented sigh and the slight smile that spread over Will's slack
features and chuckled slightly. He was so lucky to have his lover
back with him…safe and sound. He shook his head cynically as he
thought of the old days when he was only interested in treasure, rum,
and the Pearl.
"I guess that hasn't changed," he mused, except that now his treasure
had soulful brown eyes, soft, silky curls and was sleeping in his bed
right now. He smiled in an uncharacteristically dreamy way before he
turned and left to go fetch Craig.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
The door to the tiny cabin opened slowly and Craig slinked in like a
slimy, sea serpent readying for the kill. He moved up the length of
the bed and observed the sleeping form with dark curiosity. Will was
oblivious to the scrutiny, lost in a beautiful dream about his first
meeting with his older, stranger lover.
"What makes /you/ so damn special?" Craig mumbled jealously, his face
twisting in hatred and envy. He had to admit that the boy /was/
attractive, and there was something to be said about his innocence.
But who needed innocence? Wouldn't an experienced pirate like Jack
want a mate that was well versed in the ways of pleasure? Why would
he waste his time teaching this virgin?
"I wonder what you feel like…" he mused, running his finger down
Will's face, neck and collarbone. The whore had Jack's love,
Barbossa's obsession and he completely confounded himself.
There /had/ to be something about him…what was it? Craig wanted to
find out. Although, a raid was a very dangerous time to be on a
ship. Accidents happened…to anyone…to the crew, prisoners, even the
Captain.
"Or the Captain's whore," he chuckled, moving over to Jack's desk.
He plopped down into the chair, a plot forming in his mind, and
waiting for the battle to begin.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
"We've got them men! Fire!" Jack's gravely voice boomed over the
roar of the ocean waves as they caught the merchant ship. He stood
at the helm grinning like a madman as he raised his sword and shouted
commands. Of course the vessel didn't just sit and take the attack.
They returned fire and soon the smoky mist of gunpowder clouded the
air in a thick haze.
Jack gave the command and his crew threw grapplers and lowered the
boarding planks. Pistols fired, swords clashed, men fell…it was in
the midst of all this ciaos that Jack truly felt alive! The boom of
the cannons was deafening and the smoke stung the eyes, but neither
side wanted to surrender.
It was to this commotion that Will awoke with a start. He gasped and
looked around the room. He heard laughing to his left and saw Craig
sitting in Jack's chair, his feet resting on the desk. Will laughed
at his own silliness and ran a hand through his hair as he blushed.
"Scared?" was Craig's sarcastic reply. Will blushere are and sat up,
leaning against the headd.
d.
"Startled," he corrected, crossing his arms over his chest. He
listened to the sounds of the battle and worried his bottom lip. He
heard the men falling and cringed. "One of those men could be Jack,"
he murmured anxiously. He shook his head and smiled. No, his lover
always had a way of coming out of the stickiest of situations
unscathed…this would be no different.
"Don't worry I'm sure Jack will be fine," Craig stated confidently.
He had every faith in the Captain, `It's yourself you should be
worrying about,' he thought darkly. He truly hated Will…everything
about him. Everyone loved the little whore but he wasn't fooled. He
knew Will wasn't as perfect and sweet as everyone thought. If Will
was so nice then why did he steal Jack from him?! Jack was his!
He'd never done anything to deserve such punishment from the tramp!
Another loud cannon burst and they felt the walls to the cabin
shake. Will unconsciously pulled the blanket closer to
himself. /Now/ he was scared.
"What was that? Are we hit?" he asked nervously. He had only been
present in a few battles and he'd always been fighting by Jack, too
wrapped up to notice the internal commotion on the ship. This was
what Craig had been waiting for.
"I don't know! Sounded pretty bad…maybe we should seek cover?!" he
suggested, pretending to be worried. He arose from the chair and
came over to the bed. "Jack ordered me to keep you safe and I will,"
he said sweetly, running his hand down Will's face. Will flinched at
the touch…a reflex from his days with Barbossa. Craig pulled back,
pretending to be hurt, when he knew it would bother the lad. Will
sighed in frustration and lowered his head, playing with the sheet.
"I-I'm sorry," he said softly, he looked up and smiled
halfheartedly. "It's nothing personal I just…when I was captured…I…"
he couldn't find the words to explain his reaction and he really
didn't want to tell the whole story.
"I know, he tortured and raped you. I'm sorry…I shouldn't have done
that," Craig said calmly. He could barely contain his glee over the
situation, let alone pretend to be remorseful that it happened. Will
cringed at the blunt statement and needed time to collect himself
before he spoke. He nodded his head and sniffled, wiping a stray
tear from his cheek.
"Y-yes…I don't want to talk about," he said harsher than necessary,
but Craig wasn't exactly sensitive himself. Craig smirked and placed
a hand over Will's in mock comfort.
"I'm sorry…that was harsh," he said sympathetically. Will smiled and
shrugged.
"No worries," he whispered. Another loud cannon blast to the ship's
side almost sent Will into Craig's lap. "That's unsettling," he said
fearfully, "What's happening up there?!"
"I don't know but I don't think we should stay here!" Craig said
anxiously, grabbing Will's broken wrist and pulling him to his feet.
Will screamed and yanked his arm free, cradling it against his
chest. Craig pretended to be shocked and grimaced, "Oh I'm so
sorry! I forgot!" Will took a few deep breaths and closed his eyes
trying to calm the pain.
"I-it's okay," he managed to speak through clenched teeth. He took a
few more deep breaths and then opened his eyes, feeling slightly more
relaxed. "Jack said I shouldn't leave the room…I promised him."
Craig grumbled in frustration and waved his arms in the air.
"And he told me to protect you and I'm telling you it's not safe
here!" he shouted angrily. He knew it was safe…but he could always
cover that up later. "Now come on!" he ordered, grabbing Will's
forearm and dragging him out of the room.
"No! Jack said to stay in the room!" he insisted, struggling against
the grasp. Craig flipped up the latch to the decks below and Will
struggled more, "Where are we going?!" he asked frantically, not
liking being touched and forced to move…too many bad memories. Craig
didn't answer him and he started to get scared.
"Craig where are we going?! I think we should have stayed in the room…
I want to go back!" he yelled, pulling harder on the grasp.
Suddenly there was an explosion and it rattled the entire ship,
knocking them to the ground. Will felt something push him and he
slide over the slippery floor and over the edge into another hold.
He grabbed the edge with his one good hand and called for help.
"Craig! Help I'm slipping!" he shouted as his fingers slowly lost
their grip. He saw Craig's face just as he fell into the storage
compartment. He landed hard on his ankle and cried out. He looked
around...this was where they stored the food.
WillWill?!" he heard Craig's voice and looked up, there was water
flowing in from all sides, it was slow but it would definitely
flood. "Are you alright?"
"I think so…my ankle hurts and I might have landed on my wrist wrong…
Craig there's water coming in, get me out!" he begged, showing his
true age. Craig smirked, but Will couldn't see it through the dark
and water spraying. He tried to stand and whimpered in pain. His
ankle hurt but he could stand it…probably just a sprain. Why did he
leave the room? Didn't he learn the last time?!
"I'll get help, just hang on!" Craig said with barely contained
laughter as he disappeared from the opening. Will panicked.
"No, don't leave me down here!" he pleaded. "Just find the ladder!"
he shouted but he received no answer. "CRAIG!!" He was /very/ scared
now. "What do I do?" he asked the darkness. He looked for anything
he could stack and moved over to the food crates. They would have
been easy to stack…if he had two hands. There was no way he could
lift those heavy things with one hand and he couldn't use his right
one.
Another hit and the water suddenly started to come in much quicker.
He started to hyperventilate. What could he do?! It was already up
to his knees! He moved back to below the opening and tried to jump
and grab for the edge again.
"Help me someone! Craig! Jack! Ana! HELP!" he was starting to break
down, he didn't want to drown! "Please someone help me!" he pleaded,
falling back onto one of the crates. The water soon covered the top,
so he stood on it, he still couldn't reach the opening however. They
were hit again and the force sent him headfirst into the water. He
smacked his head and groaned, causing air bubbles to leave his lips.
He righted himself and stood up. The water was to just below his
shoulders. He felt dizzy and tired from the blow, but he was still
conscious.
He swam over to the crate and climbed on top again. "Help me!" he
tried again. There was another shake and he heard a slamming noise
and then everything went dark. The trapdoor to the storage room must
have been slammed shut. "No! Help me!" he started to cry…how would
anyone hear him now? No, he didn't want to die…not without seeing
Jack one more time…not without being with Jack one more time!
"Jack…" he cried out miserably, as the water continued to pour
in. `This is it…I'm not going to survive this one am I?' he thought
fearfully as the water made it to his chin. His head really hurt and
he couldn't concentrate anymore. He felt it passing his chin and he
took a deep breath before he was completely submerged.
`I love you Jack…' was his last thoughts before he lost consciousness
and felt the water enter his lungs.
Tbc….
MUWAHAHAHHHAHAHAHAHAAAAA!! EVIL CLIFFHANGER!! I've always
wanted to do that!!! After having it done to US so many times! Yes
us! Me and me muses! This was Nightshade's doing so don't get pissy

Alright Ladies….as I was writing this I was in one weird ass mood and
I ended up writing this little passage between Ana Maria and Jack.
Now even though I liked how it came out…..it really didn't belong in
the story. I thought I could make it work, but it really belongs
more in a crackfic….but I didn't want to delete it. So here's an
alternate version of the discussion between Jack and our favorite
pirate feminist, Ana Maria!
"Oh I don't doubt you could my lady….but you're one of my best
fighters and I need you up here," he complimented, biting his nails
as he pondered what was to be done.
"Do you really think that's a good idea?" she snapped the
moment he was out of earshot. Jack looked at her confused and
shrugged.
"What do you have against Craig?" Slarelared at him like he
was the dumbest man on earth.
"I just don't think he's very trust worthy," she stated
calmly, hoping that her woman's intuition would be enough for her
captain.
"I don't know what you mean," he said ignorantly, checking his
compass to make sure they were on course to collide with the other
vessel. She sighed in frustration.
"I /think/….he may have more hidden motives," she spoke with barely
controlled anger at Jack's complete lack of ability to grasp her
point.
"What?" he asked naively, not really paying attention. Ana Maria
stared at him for a moment before she screamed and ran her hands
through her hair pulling out a huge chunk and growling like a caged
beast.
"ignoignorant twat!" she screeched before catching herself and
clearing her throat before speaking with /slightly/ more sanity.
"Don't tell me you don't notice the way he glares at the two of you
when you're together! He wants you to share your bed with /him/
instead of Will," she shouted exasperatedly, exposing the major plot
point Jack had been missing. Jack stared at her frazzled, annoyed
expression. The woman looked like she was about to explode.
"That's ridiculous! What a lousy motive that would be,
people just don't do that sort of thing," Jack waved her off and went
back to his wheel. Ana Maria looked at him wide-eyed and started
shaking in rage and frustration. She walked off muttering to
herself, mourning her chunk of hair as her left eye twitched
incessantly.
Maybe it's only funny to me….but I figured I'd at least give
it the chance to be viewed.

at the helm grinning like a madman as he raised his sword and shouted
Tbc….
