Sorry this ones a bit short, the muse left me for a bit and I've had some interesting things going on at home, I hope you enjoy this. I don't own the Labyrinth but I do love a younger David Bowie in hot pants! *smirk*
“All you would have to do is walk through the entrance gate.” The demon lord smirked.
“Would that mean I have to run the maze again?”
“No.” Jareth said softly. Lexi blinked and they were on the inside of the front gate. The doors were closed with copper handles. They looked heavy, but simple to open.
Lexi approached the gate, her heart pounding. ‘I get to go home’ she thought happily. Her hands were about to touch the copper rings when a voice sounded in her head.
‘Are you certain?’
She stopped, her hands freezing, was she certain? What could life possibly offer her back home? She’d just finished school and hadn’t applied for any jobs, her father was never around to even realize she was home, and her mother was dead. Nothing was holding her to the human world.
‘Are you certain?’ the voice asked again.
‘No.’ she sniffed tears coming to her eyes, ‘I’m not certain. I don’t think I want to leave.’ Her hands touched the handles.
‘Your choice is made, daughter of the conqueror.’
Her hands felt as if they were on fire as she was tossed away from the doors and fell at Jareth’s feet.
Jareth looked at Damian, “The geis holds. She is mine.”
Damian scowled, “This is not over, Goblin King. I will be back.”
Lexi blinked and the whole of the demonic army was gone, a foul smell the only clue that they had been there at all. Jareth bent to help Alexia get up from where she had fallen.
“Are you unharmed?”
“My hands are burned; also I think the Labyrinth talked to me. It called me the ‘daughter of the conqueror.’ Has it ever talked to anyone else?”
“…No…it hasn’t. Let us return to the castle. I’ll have the goblins bring some salve for your hands.”
Damian seethed in his throne room. A black chandelier hung from the high ceiling. If one
looked closely they could just make out the fact that it was made from charred human bones. Who did that puffed up fae think he was? Damian was to be the master of all cubi! If it were not for the spell on the maze, the girl would be his and learning how to please men properly. Oberon and Tatiana made certain that the treaty between themselves and the Fae included that the secrets of their spells be never revealed. He slammed his fist onto the arm of his throne, cracking it under his rage.
“Tsk, tsk,” Slid a silky voice from the shadows, “Demon lord, showing such anger is so crass.”
Damian scowled and raised his black bone staff. The empty eye sockets glowed as power flowed from its master. The speaker squeaked as she was lifted from her hiding spot. It felt as if her body was slowly being crushed in a giant’s fist. The magic drew her out and pulled her in front of the throne where the dark lord sat.
“Who are you to tell a Demon Lord what is appropriate, little fae?” He squeezed her tightly, clenching the magic fist as he would his own. “I’m not pleased with your people, and you’ve just invaded my very throne room. Tell me, why I shouldn’t kill you here and now.” He pulled her in close. “You and I both know that cold iron can kill you and I won’t make it fast.”
Her voice was strangled as she gasped for breath. “T-The g-girl, I can deliver her to you” The grip on her loosened slightly.
“You have my attention.”
“I am Lithan; I don’t want that girl in line for my lord’s affection. Already he has refused me from his bed for one month. She has made me look like a fool in front of him. I am to be his next queen. I’d gladly give her to her own people.”
“You would betray the Goblin King in such a manner?”
“I am protecting him from himself. How dare he wish to taint the bloodline with a human? Such things are not tolerated in the Light court.” She took a breath finding the air in Damian’s dark demesnes foul. Lithan tried not to gag. “Release me and I will bring her to you.”
“How do I know you will keep your word?” Damian cocked his head at the girl he still had suspended in the air.
“We, unlike the demon kind, can’t lie.”
“But, you can bend the truth until it much resembles a lie. However, I will hold you to your word, little Fae. Bring me the girl, and take the King for yourself.”
