Riddick groaned and rolled over, pushing against a dead weight heavily resting on his back.
"Damn, Vaako," he muttered as he stretched, working his way from Vaako's clinging form. Whatever happened with them didn't feel normal. It was like something 'drove' them to fuck, and he didn't like things not under his control.
"Wake up," Riddick growled as he stood and made his way to the bathing room. He glanced at the shower, and turned to fill the large tub instead. His muscles felt a little achy with the strain of the night before. He stuck his head into the room, and frowned at the unmoving man on the bed.
"Vaako," he called again, turning for a moment to shut the tap off, before heading towards the bed. Grabbing Vaako's shoulder to shake him awake, he jerked his hand back at the unnatural coolness of his skin.
"Vaako? What the fuck?!" he exclaimed, flipping the man over as he checked his pulse. Seeing Vaako's paleness under the light tan he received from the Furyan sun, he felt something coil in his chest.
"Vaako! Wake. The. Fuck. Up," Riddick said, punctuating each word with a shake. Seeing it having no effect, he quickly threw on some pants and a tank, and yanked Vaako's pants on him, opting for the blanket instead of his shirt.
Picking Vaako up, he set out to Mother Soryn's chambers, thinking she might know what was wrong. If not, he'd get Soolh to come and figure out what was wrong.
Kicking the door to get Mother Soryn's attention, he pulled Vaako closer and felt his body heat rise a little. Growling with impatience, he stepped back and kicked out to slam the door open when it didn't open fast enough. Catching Mother Soryn's startled eyes as she rushed into the outer room, he swerved into the sitting room. Laying Vaako on the nearest divan, he grabbed the thick blanket and wrapped it around him.
"What happened?" Mother Soryn said as she came over and brushed a hand over Vaako's forehead, recovered from her shock.
"I don't know. I woke up and moved around a bit before I noticed there was something wrong with him. I shook him, yelled at him, but he won't wake up. And he feels to cool."
She nodded as he paced behind her, cataloging Vaako's shallow breathing, and cool, yet flushed skin.
"Has he been flushed like this for long?" she asked as she checked his eyes, noting the dilated pupils.
"Flushed?" Riddick asked as he stopped and looked at Vaako over her shoulder. "He was pale a minute ago..." he said when he took in the ruddiness of his skin glowing behind his tan.
She ran a hand over his forehead, and ran her other hand down his arm when she noticed the bite mark on his neck. Turning she found a similar mark in the same spot on Riddick. Gasping, she stared wide eyed at him as he glared back.
"What?!" he growled, not used to the anxiousness curling in his stomach.
"What exactly were you doing when you received that mark? And what happened before that?"
Riddick rolled his eyes and started pacing again, his eyes barely leaving Vaako's still form.
"We were fucking," he said bluntly. "Before that we were looking at some of those Furyan data pads you gave me."
"Do you know what he was reading? Did he say anything?" she asked, standing to block his path to look up into his eyes.
"This is very important, Riddick. Can you recount exactly what happened before you feel asleep?"
Riddick frowned and concentrated, backtracking in his mind of events earlier in the day.
"I went back to the room, after I finished talking to you, and Vaako was asleep. I woke him up, we messed around a little, and then started looking at the data pads. He grabbed one on...some ritual thing. I think it was on Ancient rituals," he said his brow furrowed in thought.
"Do you remember anything else?" Mother Soryn asked, her face intent, as if she was steeling herself for a blow.
"Yeah, actually. He said something. I think he was reading something out loud from the data pad," he said focusing on his memory of the moment, "and it felt like I instinctively knew the words, but I know I never heard the language he used. I think I said them back, but I'm not sure. Then we went at it. That's all I remember," he said looking up at her.
She nodded and sighed as Riddick moved to look down at Vaako, grabbing a seat at his side.
"I don't know what we said, but it felt...serious. Like it had some real important meaning. And, well we always have a good fuck, but this time it was like we couldn't get enough of each other. Like we needed something, but I don't know what..." he said thoughtfully as he rested his hand on Vaako's forehead. He frowned when Vaako moaned softly and turned into his hand, his skin warming to the touch.
"I think I know what happened, Riddick," she said. Taking a deep breath she recited the ancient mating ritual pledge, hoping she was wrong, but watched as Riddick's head snapped up with recognition.
"Yeah. That was it. So you know what it means," he said staring at her intently.
With a sigh she set a chair down besides him, and gingerly sat down in it.
"I don't pretend to understand how this is possible, but it seems as though you and Vaako pledged to each other. And from what I gather from his condition, you're bonded."
"So what does that mean?" Riddick asked after a stunned silence.
"Normally it would mean that you have essentially found your 'companion.' Once bonded, only death has been known to tear such pairs apart. But this is a surprise in your case, since there hasn't been such a bond in decades, even before the tragedy," she said, as she placed her hands at the small of her back.
"These bonds were written about in our books, for the rarity of them. There were only such bonds among Furyan's, initiated by those known to have a special ability. Have you a penchant for taming feral animals, a natural affinity with such creatures?"
"I have a connection with them, yeah. Get along better with animals than I do people, if that's what you mean," Riddick said with a frown.
"I see," she said, taking his answer as a confirmation of her thoughts.
"I must see if our records hold an answer to this situation's abnormality. For now, take Vaako to your chambers and allow him to rest. In a normal bonding ceremony, you both would have rested before the process, since it is draining to both parties. Afterward, the new pair often recovered for a couple of days, acclimating to the bond's effect on each other. Stay close beside him, he will need your strength...I am surprised you are up and around."
"Yeah well, I got a lot of rest last night, but I don't think he did. Though he does seem to get better when I touch him. So what's so different about this bond?"
"Were you to perhaps have joined another Furyan, it would have been a surface bond, unless you found someone you would consider a worthy companion. Than you would have bonded internally as well. That Vaako is not Furyan is abnormal in itself, as well as the fact that you recovered in the same night. I suppose in the times we find ourselves in, that our race will adapt to the given situation. Perhaps your bond is the first sign of an evolution..." she said with a wistful tone, staring as Riddick's hand slid through Vaako's hair.
"What should I expect?"
"You will notice that you now have a knack for finding him, for instinctually knowing if he's in danger, as he will in regards to you. Your moods will, at times, affect the other depending on their strength."
Riddick ran a hand over his head, in an agitated motion.
"Nothing can break this...bond?"
"...I don't think so, but I will look into it. You should rest," she said taking in his hunched shoulders and the darkness under each eye.
"Yeah. Let me know anything else you find out."
Carrying Vaako back to the room was quickly accomplished, though Riddick began to feel the pull of sleep creeping up on him. Placing Vaako on the bed, he kept a blanket wrapped around him and grabbed another one to place over them both.
Keeping Mother Soryn's words in mind, he pulled Vaako tight to his side and left his arm around him. Staring at the ceiling, he could only wonder how he got himself into these situations. His life had never been so complicated before he saved a few people's lives.
Looking down, he noticed that Vaako looked better already, a healthy hue coloring his cheeks. Sighing, Riddick decided to sleep. He'd wait until Vaako woke up to figure out what to do next.
~~~
Vaako opened his eyes, his mind quickly categorizing his surroundings. He first noticed he was pressed into the side of a warm hard body. And that it was dark outside, though a lone candle provided some light. Lifting his head he looked down and saw that two blankets were the cause of the excess heat trapped around his body. Sitting up, he pushed one off onto Riddick, and untangled himself from the other. Taking inventory of his body, he felt well rested and comfortable.
Looking over at Riddick, he found the man awake, his glowing eyes tracking his every move.
"Good evening..." Vaako said after a pause. He was unsure how he slept so late, through the day and into night.
Riddick continued to stare at him, his fingers laced under his head.
"How long have I been asleep?"
"Through the day and all last night."
"So its morning. Early morning...I'm assuming I've missed something with an entire day gone by," Vaako said with a cautious tone. Riddick looked calm, but some kind of tension seemed to strum out from him.
"What do you remember?" Riddick asked, tilting his head to the side. Vaako frowned as he thought, and leaned down on his side. An elbow propped him up as he stared down at Riddick in thought.
"Not much. Just us, and falling asleep afterward," he said after a moment in thought.
"Nothing else?" Riddick asked calmly, but Vaako was getting concerned. He felt something in his chest, a tenseness, but it was alluding him as to the source. Ignoring it, Vaako tried to remember what happened before they had sex.
"I think I was reading something. Some data pad about...rituals? Yes, I believe it was ancient rituals of past Furyan's."
"Yeah well that thing you read was a prelude to a rare pair bond. A guess what? We bonded."
Vaako stared at him for a time, his mind rapidly trying to make sense of Riddick's words.
"We bonded? The sex was bonding? So that's why it felt so..." Vaako said, trailing off when no words came to mind from the experience.
Rolling over, Riddick grabbed a data pad and tossed it on the bed, nodding for Vaako to pick it up.
"I found that under the door when I woke up. It pretty much says that in the past some Furyan's were known to have a gift with animals, their enhancements making them more powerful than the norm. They didn't mate like everyone else. They chose someone to bond with, soul to soul. And since their souls were tethered to their bodies, they were bonded for as long as they lived. Mother Soryn added that what we went through was a bonding frenzy. And that you're a lucky the bond took. She thought since the massacre, the process might have evolved and that's why I could bond to you."
"I see..."
"Yeah. And it ends up that I must have unconsciously made a decision about you, otherwise you'd be a bloody mess. The bonding frenzy we went through would've been a fighting frenzy to release the tension if I hadn't accepted ya."
"So what does our bond entail?"
"You should be able to find me, instinctually know if I'm in danger, and my stronger moods might set you off," Riddick said as he cracked his neck.
Vaako was silent for a moment, before a smirk appeared on his face. Tilting his head he studied Riddick who was in the process of cracking his knuckles.
"Actually, that will be rather useful," Vaako said as he rubbed a hand over his chest, frowning slightly at the thrumming pulse there. Riddick smirked and settled back against the headboard, his eyes gleaming in the candle lit room.
"So what does this mean, between you and me? Are you...Is this something you're okay with?" Vaako asked with a little trepidation. Despite the unpredictability of the bond, he wanted the link to Riddick.
"No," Riddick said candidly, unaware that Vaako's heart skipped a beat, "but Mother Soryn said short of death, there's nothing to break the bond. So I'll deal."
Vaako breathed a silent sigh of relief, though was disturbed that Riddick wanted nothing to do with their bond. But, as he said, he'd just have to deal.
Moving up, he straddled Riddick, hands braced on the headboard on either side of his head.
"Good," he said with a satisfied expression.
Riddick snorted, and leaned back, his hands coming up to steady Vaako by his waist. Leaning forward, Vaako crossed his arms over Riddick's chest and placed his chin there. Concentrating on the light throb he assumed was their link, he focused on projecting the unfamiliar emotion in his heart. The only outward indication that Riddick felt anything was the tightening of his hands on his waist.
"Did you feel that?" Vaako said quietly as he stared into Riddick's glowing eyes. Riddick raised an eyebrow and smirked.
"Playing with the bond already? Yeah, I felt it."
Vaako chuckled momentarily before his former seriousness reasserted itself. Tightening his thighs against Riddick's side, Vaako leaned forward he was eye to eye with him.
"Have you felt anything like that before?"
"No," Riddick said shortly. Vaako sighed and rested his head against Riddick's forehead, closing his eyes to the mirrors only reflecting himself back.
"How do you know if you care for someone? What I felt with my former wife feels nothing like what I feel with you. You had Kyra, and even the man who you buried her next to, his family as well. What is it like?" Vaako asked as he moved his hands to rest flatly on Riddick's chest, over his heart.
"You're asking an ex-convict? Riddick asked incredulously.
Vaako pulled back a little, and opened his eyes. Quirking an eyebrow, he shrugged.
"You'd know better than I..."
Riddick frowned and slid his hands down over Vaako's hips, to rest on his upper thighs, his eyes wandering to the single lit candle in the room. Vaako shifted, and slid his eyes to the bruise on Riddick's neck, tracing his thumb over the mark. Riddick shivered and tightened his grip as his eyes snapped back to Vaako.
"You think about them when it's quiet. You wonder what they're doing, if they're safe. You end up doing things for them you wouldn't do for anyone else..."
"How did you meet them?" Vaako asked quietly, breaking Riddick out of his silent thoughts.
"I was captured by a merc years back. He put us on a transport that crashed on a backwater planet with some nasty creatures. A lot of people died, but those who didn't set out to get off planet. They eventually let me loose and lead them, and some more people died on the way, including the merc. Three were left by the time we got close to the ship, but I left them in a hole in a rock to take off by myself. Why'd I need the headache of dealing with them? One came after me, though, by the name of Fry...She asked me to rejoin the human race right before one of the creatures got her. I went back and got the others, and we blasted off."
"And rejoined the human race...Do you regret it?"
It was a long time before Riddick answered.
"No."
~~~
"So will all sex between us be like that? Did Mother Soryn say?" Vaako asked as he began rubbing Riddick's nipples and stroking his chest. His own body was beginning to respond to the proximity and heat of his bondmate's muscled one so close to him.
'Bondmate,' Vaako thought again, unexpected satisfaction flooding his system.
"Nah. Why, to much for ya?" Riddick asked with a shit-eating grin, deliberately yanking Vaako's chain.
Vaako stopped stroking his chest and shot him a look. Realizing he was being played with, he smiled slowly, letting his eyes become heavy-lidded.
"You 'were' rather forceful, Rick. Did you like taking me so hard?" he whispered against Riddick's lips, staring directly into his fierce glowing eyes. Vaako barely took in a breath when he was harshly kissed, red lips bruising under the attack. Pulling back, Vaako traced Riddick's firm but soft, bruised lips, a wicked grin appearing on his face.
Riddick's eyes flashed, and he wrapped his hand under Vaako's jaw, manhandling his head to the angle he wanted. After quickly dipping oil into his hand, his hand closed around Vaako's cock. Vaako gripped Riddick's wrist, suddenly unsure if he returned to the frenzied bonding state they had experienced before. Focusing, he searched Riddick's eyes, he encountered nothing but awareness returning his gaze.
Riddick's eyes narrowed when Vaako's breath hitched, as he squeezed his cock. Slowly pumping it, he watched Vaako's eyes dilate and his body shudder with arousal, though his eyes never left his own.
"Can't handle it?" Riddick asked, his voice free of inflection, the question asked in genuine interest of the answer.
Smirking, Vaako rocked forward to press their lower bodies together.
"You're asking the Lord Marshal's Right-hand and Lead Commander if he can handle it?" he asked, voice mimicking Riddick's incredulous tone from their previous conversation.
Riddick chuckled and twisted his hand to grip the back of Vaako's neck. Yanking forward, he pulled Vaako's upper body against him, the other hand suddenly jerking him off fiercely. Vaako groaned low in his throat, and arched into Riddick's body, his entire body flushing with pleasure.
"Ah," he gasped, quickly finding himself on the edge, shuddering as Riddick devoured his mouth. Pulling from the demanding kiss, Vaako pressed his forehead to Riddick's as he breathed deeply, his hands reaching up to brace himself against the onslaught.
Riddick felt the small throb that had taken residence in his chest intensify as Vaako became more vocal. Pulling Vaako forward, Riddick slid his cheek against Vaako's flushed one, and mouthed his jaw, inhaling his spicy scent. Closing his eyes as he tilted his head to lap at the mark on Vaako's neck, he focused on feeling the link out. An image popped in his mind of a pulsing circular disk, a line leading out to another one in Vaako.
Jerking out of the imagery, he found he had slowed down on Vaako's cock, though he was rhythmically squeezing the length. Taking another deep breath, Riddick quickly worked Vaako again, taking him to the edge, and backing off, before doing it again.
Riddick pulled back and watched Vaako's open-mouthed pants turned to moans, and then soft cries. Growling as the sound hardened his cock even more, he lapped at Vaako's open mouth.
Letting Vaako's cock go, Riddick gripped his hips and firmly rubbed up and down his sides. Vaako wrapped his arms tight around his neck, thighs tense on either side of him.
"Rick?" he asked quietly, still panting as his body sang with pleasure, his cock straining against Riddick's belly.
Riddick tilted Vaako's head to the side and sucked on the mark he made, again envisioning the connection between them in his mind's eye. Straightening up, he stared directly into Vaako's eyes.
"Come," he said, imagining the command slamming down the link to Vaako, as he quickly sank his teeth into the mark.
The results were immediate. Vaako arched back so far, Riddick thought he might crack his spine, a scream ripping from his throat as come arced from his cock. Soon he was forced to shove Vaako back and hold him down as his body convulsed, his voice breaking into a wail that ended with hoarse cries.
Riddick shifted off of Vaako quickly, and pulled his orgasm weakened body tight against him as soon as he stopped shaking. Vaako's sobbing breaths were moistly panted into Riddick's neck, as he rolled over on top of him and clasped their hands together.
"Shh. Calm down," Riddick whispered, nuzzling at Vaako's cheek and temple. Pulling back, he looked down into Vaako's glistening eyes and released one hand to sink into Vaako's hair. Brushing Vaako's temple with his thumb, Riddick grinned down at him as his hitching breaths slowed, leaning down for a mild kiss.
"I thought you could handle it," Riddick teased against his lips. Vaako chuckled, and tightened the fingers gripping Riddick's hand.
"I never thought you'd attempt to kill me by orgasm," Vaako said, a little breathy. They relaxed against each other for a moment, Vaako shifting so that Riddick fell between his legs.
"What was that?" Vaako asked after a moment.
"Something we'll explore more later. We need a shower."
Groaning at the thought of moving in the near future, Vaako suddenly became aware of the hardness pressing into his inner thigh. Reaching down, he felt along Riddick's cock, and tugged gently. Riddick grabbed his hand and pulled it up, briefly sucking at his wrist.
"Leave it. You'll just owe me later," Riddick said, his eyes glinting with promise. Vaako relaxed into the bed with a nod, and instinctively gripped Riddick when he tried to leave, flushing slightly at his raised eyebrow.
"What, you want to be stuck together?"
"Just give me a minute," Vaako said, unable to understand his reluctance in letting Riddick go. Burying his face into Riddick's neck, Vaako inhaled the scent of their mingled sweat and his come, relishing the heat Riddick put out like a furnace. Finally, whatever was making him hold on eased, and he released Riddick to start the water.
Staring up at the ceiling as different areas twinged at the strain his body underwent, he suddenly thought total immersion would feel really good.
"How about a bath instead, Riddick?" he called out, thinking of how he'd get Riddick to tell him what he did with the bond. It was like nothing he'd ever experienced in his life, and with that kind of strain, something that would be rarely experienced in the future.
His only answer was the sound of water sloshing inside the tub.

"Good evening..." Vaako said after a pause. He was unsure how he slept so late, through the day and into night.
Riddick continued to stare at him, his fingers laced under his head.
"How long have I been asleep?"
"Through the day and all last night."
"So its morning. Early morning...I'm assuming I've missed something with an entire day gone by," Vaako said with a cautious tone. Riddick looked calm, but some kind of tension seemed to strum out from him.
"What do you remember?" Riddick asked, tilting his head to the side. Vaako frowned as he thought, and leaned down on his side. An elbow propped him up as he stared down at Riddick in thought.
"Not much. Just us, and falling asleep afterward," he said after a moment in thought.
"Nothing else?" Riddick asked calmly, but Vaako was getting concerned. He felt something in his chest, a tenseness, but it was alluding him as to the source. Ignoring it, Vaako tried to remember what happened before they had sex.
"I think I was reading something. Some data pad about...rituals? Yes, I believe it was ancient rituals of past Furyan's."
"Yeah well that thing you read was a prelude to a rare pair bond. A guess what? We bonded."
Vaako stared at him for a time, his mind rapidly trying to make sense of Riddick's words.
"We bonded? The sex was bonding? So that's why it felt so..." Vaako said, trailing off when no words came to mind from the experience.
Rolling over, Riddick grabbed a data pad and tossed it on the bed, nodding for Vaako to pick it up.
"I found that under the door when I woke up. It pretty much says that in the past some Furyan's were known to have a gift with animals, their enhancements making them more powerful than the norm. They didn't mate like everyone else. They chose someone to bond with, soul to soul. And since their souls were tethered to their bodies, they were bonded for as long as they lived. Mother Soryn added that what we went through was a bonding frenzy. And that you're a lucky the bond took. She thought since the massacre, the process might have evolved and that's why I could bond to you."
"I see..."
"Yeah. And it ends up that I must have unconsciously made a decision about you, otherwise you'd be a bloody mess. The bonding frenzy we went through would've been a fighting frenzy to release the tension if I hadn't accepted ya."
"So what does our bond entail?"
"You should be able to find me, instinctually know if I'm in danger, and my stronger moods might set you off," Riddick said as he cracked his neck.
Vaako was silent for a moment, before a smirk appeared on his face. Tilting his head he studied Riddick who was in the process of cracking his knuckles.
"Actually, that will be rather useful," Vaako said as he rubbed a hand over his chest, frowning slightly at the thrumming pulse there. Riddick smirked and settled back against the headboard, his eyes gleaming in the candle lit room.
"So what does this mean, between you and me? Are you...Is this something you're okay with?" Vaako asked with a little trepidation. Despite the unpredictability of the bond, he wanted the link to Riddick.
"No," Riddick said candidly, unaware that Vaako's heart skipped a beat, "but Mother Soryn said short of death, there's nothing to break the bond. So I'll deal."
Vaako breathed a silent sigh of relief, though was disturbed that Riddick wanted nothing to do with their bond. But, as he said, he'd just have to deal.
Moving up, he straddled Riddick, hands braced on the headboard on either side of his head.
"Good," he said with a satisfied expression.
Riddick snorted, and leaned back, his hands coming up to steady Vaako by his waist. Leaning forward, Vaako crossed his arms over Riddick's chest and placed his chin there. Concentrating on the light throb he assumed was their link, he focused on projecting the unfamiliar emotion in his heart. The only outward indication that Riddick felt anything was the tightening of his hands on his waist.
"Did you feel that?" Vaako said quietly as he stared into Riddick's glowing eyes. Riddick raised an eyebrow and smirked.
"Playing with the bond already? Yeah, I felt it."
Vaako chuckled momentarily before his former seriousness reasserted itself. Tightening his thighs against Riddick's side, Vaako leaned forward he was eye to eye with him.
"Have you felt anything like that before?"
"No," Riddick said shortly. Vaako sighed and rested his head against Riddick's forehead, closing his eyes to the mirrors only reflecting himself back.
"How do you know if you care for someone? What I felt with my former wife feels nothing like what I feel with you. You had Kyra, and even the man who you buried her next to, his family as well. What is it like?" Vaako asked as he moved his hands to rest flatly on Riddick's chest, over his heart.
"You're asking an ex-convict? Riddick asked incredulously.
Vaako pulled back a little, and opened his eyes. Quirking an eyebrow, he shrugged.
"You'd know better than I..."
Riddick frowned and slid his hands down over Vaako's hips, to rest on his upper thighs, his eyes wandering to the single lit candle in the room. Vaako shifted, and slid his eyes to the bruise on Riddick's neck, tracing his thumb over the mark. Riddick shivered and tightened his grip as his eyes snapped back to Vaako.
"You think about them when it's quiet. You wonder what they're doing, if they're safe. You end up doing things for them you wouldn't do for anyone else..."
"How did you meet them?" Vaako asked quietly, breaking Riddick out of his silent thoughts.
"I was captured by a merc years back. He put us on a transport that crashed on a backwater planet with some nasty creatures. A lot of people died, but those who didn't set out to get off planet. They eventually let me loose and lead them, and some more people died on the way, including the merc. Three were left by the time we got close to the ship, but I left them in a hole in a rock to take off by myself. Why'd I need the headache of dealing with them? One came after me, though, by the name of Fry...She asked me to rejoin the human race right before one of the creatures got her. I went back and got the others, and we blasted off."
"And rejoined the human race...Do you regret it?"
It was a long time before Riddick answered.
"No."
