Chapter 11
“So say it,” he dared.
“I love you,” she said simply. He watched her for a while and then pulled her close and whispered into her ear. “Prove it.” He pulled away slightly.“You can’t prove it, can you?”“I just did,” she said firmly. “How else can I prove it?”“Words,” the Goblin King smirked, circling her, “are just words. Pointless, heartless words. As far ashow else you can prove it, you’re a semi-intelligent and creative creature. Think of it yourself. I won’t
solve my riddle for you.” He laughed softly as he saw the anger in her eyes. He was about to turn around when she put her small
hand on his shoulder to turn him. He did not have to but he did, curious to see what it was she wanted
to pester him about. And as soon as he did, he almost gasped in surprise when her lips collided with his. Granted he was
quite tall and she had to practically stand on the tips of her toes, it did not matter for their kiss was
almost earth shattering. And when her tongue slid smoothly into his mouth, he groaned softly at the feel
of her. And shoved her away. She staggered back slightly, savoring his taste in her mouth.“Lust,” he breathed. “That was lust, not love.”Sarah’s emerald eyes narrowed. “Why don’t you prove it to me?” she smirked. ‘Oh how pathetically childish this is,’she thought, but
she’d be damned if she lost this one.His face darkened as he approached her. “I have proved it to you,” he growled. “Time and time again,
I’ve done everything for you. Done everything you’ve ever wanted. I was and am your slave, Sarah.
Don’t you see? Are you really that blind?”Sarah’s mouth dropped open slightly as if she was about to say something, but nothing came out. She
was stunned, at the least. His confession was so bare, naked, vulnerable. She had only now realized how much power she had over him. She did after all, but not in the sense
that she thought. She ruled his heart with an iron fist and only now she had realized how strong her grip
was. Only now.“Then let me redeem myself,” Sarah whispered. “Forgive me.”He was silent, his face rigid. Then his lips formed a cruel smile.“You bore me, Sarah,” he said finally, “Everything is about you. How arrogant you are, how selfish.”“Then we are two of a kind,” she said weakly, but was only answered with the coldness of his eyes.“We are not,” the Goblin King firmly insisted, “You only notice my arrogance when I am not
completely enveloped in you. You are the arrogant one, the selfish one, the self-obsessed one. You are
the one who sent your brother away and started this. You are the one who only thinks about herself. I
daresay you have little space in your brain for anything else.”“You’re lying!” Sarah cried, her eyes brimming with tears. “I....I gave you up...for Toby. If I was selfish
then I would have stayed with you!”“Now you are the one who is lying,” he watched as tears rolled down her face, “You very well know
that the only reason why you even went after the child is because you did not want to get into trouble
with your parents. You were not even thinking of his safety. Only of yourself and what would happen to
you-““Shut up!” she cried, slumping into one of the chairs and wiping away the tears. Jareth knelt down, slowly tilting her chin to meet his apathetic eyes.“The truth hurts, does it not?” he taunted her softly.“It’s not...it’s-,” she shook her head, new tears threatening to spill.“Shhhh,” he said, his eyes softening. “I forgive you Sarah. I have always forgiven you.”Her thin arms wrapped around his neck. He gently lifted her up and transported both of them to her
bedroom. He brought her slowly down onto the soft mattress and covered her, as she closed her eyes
in sleep.Appearing in his own bed chamber, a moment later, Helen met his eyes with disdain.
“Well?” she growled, suddenly not sounding very lady-like.
“Well what?” asked Jareth as he poured himself a hefty amount of liquor into his goblet.“Did you break her?” Helen hissed. A strange gleam in her eyes.Even Jareth had to admit she was kind of creepy sometimes.“Not yet,” he sighed, depositing himself in a plush velvet arm chair in front of the fire.“You are so slow, Jareth!” she cried. “She already admitted her feelings for you and here you sit, drinking in front of the fire. She was so vulnerable. Did you see it in her eyes? It would have been so
perfect.”He said nothing and she continued, “But perhaps you are right. Why not get her even more attached?
The heartbreak will be worse, perhaps even,” her voice dropped low, “deadly.”“Helen, stay out this,” he suddenly turned to her. His voice dripping with irritation.“And I am,” she said quietly,” It’s just fun to watch...and comment on. What will you do with her after
all of this?”“Helen...,” Jareth warned.“Will you drown her in the bog of eternal stench?” Helen pondered thoughtfully, “Will you send her to
the dungeons for eternity? Make her your eternal jester? Love slave? Or will you send her to the
Marquis? And if you do, can I watch?”Jareth was silent again, lost in his own thoughts.Helen’s voice heightened and he jumped, glaring at her, “Just remember Jareth, this is the girl that broke
your heart. The girl that nearly destroyed you. Are you really willing to simply let this slide so easily?
You know that even if you decide to forgive her, you will never get over what she did to you. What
she, who supposedly loves you now, did to you for her own greedy purpose.”Jareth’s goblet shattered in his hand. “You’re right,” he sighed, letting the contents of the broken goblet fall to the floor. “I have lost sight of
the true purpose yet again. But she can do that to you. She can make you forget any malice you have
towards her when you just look into her eyes. It is she that is all powerful. Not I.”“Then don’t let her do that,” Helen loomed before him suddenly. “Forget her pretty eyes. Mine are just
as pretty.” She leaned in to kiss him and he did not fight it.******************************************************************A/N: Yea yea short I know. Put the guns down everyone...yea you in the corner too. Sorry it took me
so long and it was so short. It actually took a great deal of thought. But I think I have this story kind of
figured out...except the ending. I suck at endings.
