Chapter 19
Chapter 19
Author’s Note: Tristan is Brad Pitt’s character from Legends of the Fall. I always thought he looked his absolute best in that flick.
Warning: This chapter contains mention of rape and an abortion of sorts.
Ioan rushed to Brandon and Brennan’s side and inspected their injuries. He heard some debris shift behind him and glanced back at Dean as he shoved the rubble off of his body. “Where is mom?” He asked as he freed himself and levitated over the crumbled wall to Ioan.
“He took her.” Ioan stretched his arms out and placed his hands on both of Ares’ sons’ chests. “They teleported away as soon as I got in here.” His healing power flowed into his brothers and they began to rouse from unconsciousness. “There was nothing I could do for her.”
Brandon snapped up to a seated position and pushed Ioan away. “You could’ve followed!”
“You and Brennan were injured. I…”
“You failed our mother! Brennan and I are unimportant compared to her! You should have left us and gone to her aid!”
“Shut up!” Dean picked up Brandon and slammed him against the wall. “You arrogant, little shit! I know you are half God but when you think about it so are the rest of us. You are not better than us, Brandon, and your holier-than-thou attitude is wearing thin. Ioan just saved your life and you speak to him like a dog! He is more powerful than any of us combined.”
“Then he should have protected our mother!”
Brennan came forward and placed a hand on his brother’s shoulder. “Brandon, you need to control yourself. You are becoming more warlike with every passing day. Put him down, Dean.”
With a deep sigh, Dean followed Brennan’s instructions and set Brandon back on his feet. “I hope you can talk some sense into him or he will not be able to fulfill mother’s prophecy.”
Brandon’s head whipped around to look at Dean’s retreating back and turned to his brother. “I am losing…it, aren’t I?”
“Your emotions are getting the best of you. You verbally attacked our mother and now are physically abusing our brother.” Brennan shook his head and stared into his older sibling’s eyes. “You will not be of any use to our mother in this condition whether it is to exact her rescue or fulfill our destiny. Calm yourself. Find the balance that father found when he met her. Okay?”
Brandon’s chest was heaving with barely restrained anger but his brother’s words filtered through his mind and he focused on controlling his inherited dark nature. He took a deep breath and nodded his head. “I will try, my brother.”
Dean turned away from the War God’s sons and looked at Ioan’s defeated stature. “It isn’t your fault. None of us were effective against his power.”
“And you never will be.” They all turned to the door to see Dorian standing there with Jesse and Tamerlane behind him. “Unless we all learn to work together like we were meant to. It is our destiny, remember? Think about what mother said that we are meant to do. I’ll be right back.”
“Where are you going?” Jesse asked.
“To get our fathers. They need to know that she was taken.”
“It would be faster if Ioan or I went.” Dean stepped forward. “He can teleport and I can fly.”
Dorian smiled at his new siblings. “I can do both.” He vanished from sight with a flash of light.

The men stood around the statue of the woman they all loved and waited somewhat impatiently as Ian meditated on the task at hand. His eyes were glowing white with his cosmic ability and; before any of the men could protest about the time; four blasts of power struck out from the statue to impact with their bodies. The force of it sent them sliding across the marble floor.
Ian watched them all with concern and curiosity as they huddled on the ground trying to assimilate the absorption of their new rise in power. Bodies shaking from the pain of the transference, they writhed for several minutes wrestling for control of the energy that coursed through their systems.
Riddick was the first to rise to his feet in victory. He looked around the room with a new view of his surroundings. “Do you see everything like this?” Ian nodded at his inquiry. Riddick raised his hands into his line of vision, ran his eyes over his arms and down the length of his body. “This is amazing. Her power is unbelievable and it feels so warm inside of me. It’s like I am carrying her within me.”
Ian looked relieved that Riddick withstood the potential of the darker aspects of his and Alex’s power. “I know exactly what you mean. I feel that way all the time.”
They heard the others still struggling to come to terms with the Phoenix and turned their attention to her 3 other mates. Riddick’s own unique vision could see the internal war they were all going through and something else as well. “Ares and Tyr took a larger dose than I did.” He glanced at Ian and saw him nod. “Why? I am better equipped to deal with her power and far stronger than the two of them.”
“It was her instructions and I followed them to the letter.” Two silver orbs narrowed on his black ones and Ian felt compelled to explain. “You have a power of your own that already combined with the portion she gave you when you bonded. It made you stronger than any known being in the universe save for Alex and me. The power I just gave you has made you capable of manifesting and controlling your new abilities whenever you wish. You are just barely below her and me on the evolutionary ladder now.”
He nodded his head and looked back at the others. “We need to help them overcome this too.” Riddick went to Tyr’s side and gripped the Nietzchean’s forearm. “Come on, man. You need to concentrate and fight it until it bends to your will. The same way you did when you healed Alex.” Tyr grasped Riddick’s arm that held his to focus on something outside of the chaos in his mind and body. “Tyr, you are the most stubborn man I’ve ever met. Don’t let the Phoenix get the better of you! Slap that bitch down!”
Tyr’s eyes snapped open with the white glow of energy that was Ian’s trademark and for a moment Riddick thought he lost his battle. He blinked his eyes a couple of times and his normal brown returned. “That hurt like hell.” He mumbled and then looked up at his new friend. “I heard you through the din of noise in my head. Thank you for the assistance.”
“No problem.” Riddick pulled the Nietzchean to his feet and read his power signature. “You got it in balance. Good work, man. Ian?” He turned to look back at the others. “How are they doing?”
“Both of them came through admirably.” He helped Duncan and Ares to their feet. “I think it went well.”
“I hope so.” Dorian said as he appeared in the middle of the room.
Riddick turned to see his son’s fearful expression and ran to stand before him. “Dorian, what is it? Why are you here instead of with your mother like I instructed?”
“He took her, father.” He whispered with tremendous pain in his voice.
“What?” Riddick yelled and shook his son by his shoulders. “What do you mean he took her?”
“Riddick, calm down and listen to the boy.” Ares put his hand on the distraught man’s upper arm. “It wasn’t his fault and you’re making him feel like it was.”
He glanced at his son and pulled him into a quick embrace. “I’m sorry, Dorian.” He held him at arm’s length and gave him an apologetic shrug. “Are the rest of the boys okay?” His son nodded in response. “Tell me what happened.”
“Right after you all left, mom was tired and about to get some sleep when she seemed to hear something the rest of us couldn’t. She yelled at us to take cover but before we could the wall exploded and the rubble threw us away from her.” He was becoming overwhelmed with grief at the thought of losing the mother he just met but his father gave him a reassuring squeeze and he struggled to continue. “Dean tried to intervene but he was blasted through the back wall of the room.”
Duncan stepped forward and stammered his words with worry. “Is—is he alright?”
“Yes sir. Brandon and Brennan stepped up to mount an attack and mom yelled at Ioan to remove Jesse, Tamerlane, and myself from the room. Which he did immediately and then returned to the room to help. When we made our way back to Tyr’s room, Ioan was healing Brandon and Brennan and mom was gone.”
Riddick tamped down his panic enough to feel Tyr’s from across the room. He knew the Nietzchean was worried about his two sons but was petrified for the well-being of his wife and unborn child. “Let’s get back to your room and check on the boys.” Tyr nodded his head in agreement with his friend. “Then heaven help that motherfucker because we’re gonna find him and kill him right this time!”
They all vanished from the temple to reappear instantly in the midst of Tyr’s demolished suites.

Darkness filled her vision every time she tried to open her eyes. Her body was still trying to recover from her previous ordeal. “Hey baby.” He walked up beside her and ran his hand over her feverish flesh. “I was hoping you would wake up soon. Fucking you is so much more fulfilling when you’re awake.” She struggled to sit up but her strength failed her and she slumped unceremoniously back on the slab. “Stay still, love. You need to recover your strength so we can be together again.”
“You are seriously deluded if you think we will ever be together.” She gritted the words out in disgust.
“We will be, sweetheart. I have something over you the others couldn’t hope to match.” He tuned into her family’s gathering and smiled wickedly at his estranged mate. “All of your men are together now. Why don’t we go show them who controls you?”
~*~
Tristan appeared in the remnants of Tyr’s rooms with Alexandra laid out on the floor behind him. “Gentlemen.” Before they could rush at him, he grabbed her arm and drug her to her feet. He had one arm wrapped around her waist and his free hand gripped her neck. “Now let’s not be too quick to move, shall we? I worked her body over pretty hard a little while ago and I don’t know if she is up for more…yet.”
“Let her go, you son of a bitch!” Riddick fumed as he detected Tristan’s scent all over his wife’s body.
“Riddick, I hired you to kill my wife not mate with her. I knew the whore would be attracted to you and that you could seduce her to spread her legs for you but I never thought an animal like you could fall in love with her.” He grasped her breast in his hand and pinched her nipple hard enough for her to cry out in pain. “I told you she is unique. She is a good fuck, isn’t she?”
“Ian said that you love her. Is this any way for you to treat the woman you love? How could you rape her?” Tyr practically snarled as he took a step closer.
“Well Tyr, she is the one who threw me away like I didn’t mean a thing to her. Why should I treat her with the respect that I once did?”
Ian began to move forward and halted when Tristan’s hand went back to her throat. “You do still love her, Tristan. I can feel it even now after you did these horrible things to her.”
“There is a part of her I love, Ian, and maybe I can introduce her to you.” He turned his attention to the woman in his arms and cocked his head in curiosity. “Alex, I sense a life within you. How very interesting.” He smiled devilishly at Tyr. “This is your seed growing inside of her, isn’t it?”
“It is our son.” Fear entered Tyr’s body and Riddick’s words from earlier about Tristan’s power rang through his mind.
“Alex.” He whispered in her ear while he tore through her system to shred her control. “Can you hear me, baby?” She nodded groggily against the side of his face. “I want you to kill the spawn growing within you.”
“No! Don’t do this!” Tyr started forward but Riddick restrained him from approaching when Tristan’s hold on her neck tightened. “I’m begging you!”
“That is a sweet sentiment, Tyr, but I begged her for forgiveness once and she wasn’t very forthcoming with it. Alex!” He was breaking through all her defenses with ease in her weakened condition and she shook to maintain control of her dark side. “I’m ordering you to kill that unworthy bastard’s child now!”
Her forehead was beaded with sweat and she shook her head back and forth. “No. I—won’t…do it.”
“Have it your way.” He mentally reached into her body and she convulsed when she felt his entry into her womb. “I guess I’ll have to do it myself.” She screamed out in agony when his stolen cosmic energy snuffed the light within her out and she felt the fetus disintegrate.
“NO!!!” Tyr wailed out in anguish when he felt his child die and Riddick held him in a fierce grasp to give him support in his time of loss.
Alexandra slumped to the floor when Tristan released his hold on her. He watched her shake on the ground with a smile on his face. Her control snapped when he murdered her child and she was releasing her dark side. The side he had complete dominion over. “You bastard!” She growled out of clenched teeth as she rose to her feet. “I will kill you…”
“Shut up.” Her mouth snapped closed at his command. Her fiery eyes would burn through him if he allowed it and he laughed as his long awaited dreams came true. “You are mine now.” He saw her family charge forward except for Riddick and the grieving Tyr. “Stop them.” She turned her gaze towards them and they flew back to be pinned against the wall by her telekinesis. “That’s my girl. Gotta go now, guys. The wife and I have some reacquainting to do.” They both vanished from sight in a flash of flames.
When she was gone, her hold on her family disappeared and they fell to the floor. “Ian, we need the Wielders.” Riddick called out as he held the broken Nietzchean in a tight embrace.
“The Wielders?”
“We aren’t just fighting Tristan anymore. He knew she wouldn’t kill her own child even with his control over her so he did it himself to draw out her dark side.” He looked at her other mates and sons with tears running down his face. “Now that he set it free, he can use her any way he wants. We’ll be fighting the both of them and we are outmatched. The Wielders might be our only hope of stopping her.”
Ian nodded his head. ‘The day she had feared has come to pass. She has become a threat to her family and existence.’ He put his hand on Tyr’s shoulder to offer what little comfort and condolences he could before he went to retrieve Logan and Scott.
