Chapter 02
The shy Smith tried to wriggle out from beneath the one who was
currently pushing an unwanted bit of coding into him. Backward
was out of the question. It would only drive the unwanted code deeper.
The way forward was blocked by the garbage can he was being held
down on. All he could do was wiggle from side to side and hope to work
himself free.
"Give in," the aggressive one breathed in the timid one's ear. "Accept me.
Accept my code within you. There is no other way."
"Except your deletion."
The aggressor turned away from his intended victim. "I'll take care of this
little interruption. Then we'll go back to what we were doing."
Unlike the original, the duplicate Smiths could not always tell one from the
other. The aggressive Smith had no idea that he had incurred the wrath of
the True Smith. He only knew that this intruder must be dealt with. He was
a threat that must be eliminated so that he could get back to the more
important business of leaving his seminal code within the copy he had just
been starting to bury himself in.
Smith eyed the violated copy, then turned his attention on the one who had
abused him. There was hate in his eyes as he threw a punch that knocked the
aggressive Smith to the concrete.
"There is only one way to deal with you." Smith glared. "Any threat must be
eliminated. Even a threat from one of you. I will not give clemency for the
crime that you have committed upon my mate."
"Smith," the timid one whispered at this declaration as his mind, having
finally reached its limit, shut itself down.
