AAF TWO

An alternative fate

Anakin and Padme both froze on the spot when they heard the knocking on the door. Anakin sighed “its Obi-wan, I know his life force signature; I know it as well, as I know yours.” They exchanged a look before Padme nodded and Anakin returned the gesture and called out “enter Master Obi-wan.” They turned when they heard the whooshing sound of the door being opened.

Obi-wan entered and they quickly noticed he looked paler and graver then they had seen him look in along while. Anakin sensed something was bothering his master and asked “is something a miss Master, I sense you are troubled, is there anything I can do to help relief you of your burden?”

Obi-wan eyed his padawan and nodded before commenting “yes my young padawan of mine, there is indeed something you can do for me.” Anakin nodded and gestured for him to continue “you can start by confirming some not so minor details I unintentionally over heard only moments ago. I came here to night to ask how your assignment was coming along and to inform you of a recent decision discussed by the order, when I heard more then I thought you could possibly be ever keeping away from me. I’m not here to pry into your personal life or spy on either you or senator Amidala. I thought we had tackled your secrecy problem before you left your teens and straight into adult hood.”

Anakin asked “what do you want to know?” Obi-wan answered “I want to know weather the child senator Amidala currently carries is born out of wed lock or not. And how long has this been going on behind the backs of the council?”

Anakin scowled and unsurprisingly Obi-wan returned the look. Padme grimaced ~oh god. Hear we go, they’re getting fired up for one of their legendary arguments~ she thought exasperated to her self. Anakin gritted between clenched teeth “we’ve been married since the first day war was declared. We were secretly married by a Naboo holy man. C3PO and R2 were the only other witnesses to the small ceremony. And I’m seven months pregnant since the beginning of this month” Padme added.

Obi-wan looked clearly furious, the normally mild mannered Jedi master was seething he was barley managing to remain in control of his temper, which was normally quite easy for him. Anakin was clearly stunned he could feel the seething anger coming off his master in waves, he had never felt such anger coming off his master in such waves before. He was usually the calm perfect example of a mild mannered person. This was very unlike his master, and this truly worried Anakin. Anakin realised he might have gone to far this time. He was dismayed and clearly terrified when he discovered he couldn’t sense any emotions coming from his master, it was if he’d turned them off with a proverbial switch.

Obi-wan continued his voice void of any emotion “you knew that possession and attachment are forbidden since you were ten years old Anakin.” Anakin sighed unable to fire up enough anger to fight back, when his master’s tone of voice sounded so dead and defeated. “But these days since the war started hasn’t the order encouraged us to love more?” Obi-wan replied “yes but that invitation didn’t necessarily stretch to the outside of the Jedi temple.”

Obi-wan sighed wearily and scrubbed his hand through his immaculately trimmed beard and commented “I didn’t come here to discuss the darn right irresponsibility you’re currently exercising here.” Anakin spat angrily “no you came here to ream me out and tell me what an irresponsible immature fool I’m being, admit it Obi-wan.”

Obi-wan went bright red and let his temper and irritation rip full force. “No actually I came here to night, presuming here is where you’d be, seeing as you never spend any time in your quarters at the temple anymore except to meditate. I came here to enquire as to how your assignment assigned by the council was coming along, and to see if you had any new information on the chancellor.”

He continued his tone becoming colder by the second “And finally I came to inform you that I felt you were ready to take the trials as I felt you’d learned from me all that Qui-Gon had taught me. The council all but agreed but said they would talk among themselves about you finally being given your dream to be finally knighted and become a Jedi and become a master, allowing you to take on your own padawan. That is what I came here for. But instead I was alerted to your deception of the rules of the Jedi code. Thank you for your undivided trust Anakin it really shows DANM YOU ANAKIN.”

Obi-wan turned on his heel his hooded cloak snapping out behind him as he briskly left the apartment, leaving a dead uncomfortable silence in his wake. Padme noticed all the colour had completely drained from her husbands face. She snapped “go after him Anakin; you need to mend the damage that has been caused. He came here to practically deliver you your dream, and instead was practically slapped in the face with are deception.”

Anakin moaned as if he was in pain and choked out “oh god Padme, I can’t feel any emotions coming from him like normal, there is no anger no hatred, no nothing. And that terrifies me.” Padme was clearly starting to become afraid her self after being told that. She knew Obi-wan had every right to be angry, but no clear emotion this was bad, really bad.
