Chapter 25

**These last chapters are where this story really got fun. Glad you’re all enjoying it. The feedback makes my day, I swear it to you. You all inspire me to write more. Unfortunately all good things must come to an end. Lucky for you, this is going to get a whole lot naughtier before it goes away.

Thanks, ladies.

Dom lay on his back, hands on Darynn’s waist as she straddled him. The blanket and their clothes were in a tangled pile off the mattress. Their skin was pink from exertion, damp with sweat and other contributing juices. Her hair hung in lanky strands and she’d tossed it to the side over her shoulder to keep it from covering Dom’s face. Lips were swollen and eyelids were heavy from either lack of sleep, alcohol, or lust.

Darynn lifted her head, breaking their kiss with a groan. She sat up, pushing against the hardness of Dom’s chest as she ground onto the dick penetrating her. Her eyes opened to see the first lightening of the sky to the east.

“It’s morning,” she whispered breathlessly.

His only response was a low grating rumble like a deep purr.

“Do you want to watch the sunrise with me?” she teased, looking down at him.

“I’ll see it on you,” he tried for dismissive, but his voice was strained, his eyes traveling over her with an appreciative narrowing.

She flushed, her skin heating and her inner muscles contracting. His admiring words almost made her feel shy, but the look in his dark eyes made her want to scream.

She rocked on him, urged by his hips tilting beneath her. Back arched for the perfect angle shoved her breasts into prominence and his hands lifted to cup them. She moaned on a sigh as calloused thumbs brushed ticklish light over her abused nipples.

Dom had shown himself to be a breast man. No wonder he couldn’t go gay, she thought with a smile. He sat to capture a nipple between his teeth and she cried out at the sudden pain. His frequent attention to them had caused an aching soreness. He immediately gentled his touch, his tongue laving her.

His sitting made them adjust their position, and Darynn squirmed on him, feeling the angle change within her. She tilted her head back, eyes rolling, gasping for air. His hands helped to lift her ass, his mouth mercifully abandoning her breasts to work upward over her throat. They moved together, her using his shoulders for leverage now, but mostly they just flexed muscles internally, barely stroking in and out at all.

Darynn gasped as teeth scraped her neck. She felt just at the edge of coming, her muscles fluttering, spasming around him. He was filling her, thick inside her. She shuddered at the feeling of him flexing with her, teasing deep. “Oh, fucking-god, Dom, that’s awesome.”

Her eyes rolled into her head as she hovered at the edge of coming, but not going over. She moved mechanically, unable to stop. Her mouth open in a soundless scream.

He purred against her throat, a reverberating sound that rose and fell but never ended. His hands pushed and pulled, driving her closer as she was held suspended, her body thrumming, her mind numbing.

Darynn heard a keening sound for long seconds before she realized it was her. She was lost, seeing nothing, only feeling. She was melting, coming apart, and only Dom held her there, his strength anchoring her.

A movement at her ear, feather-soft and warm. A puff of breath tickled her. Then, barely there, “Come for me, Rynn.” His words were timed with a jerk of his hips.

The world splintered apart. A dam of white-hot broke inside her. Her mind floated upward, her body seized. She didn’t hear her own scream echo away, but heard Dom’s answering yell. She didn’t feel her body arch away from him, but felt his hands tight on her. She drifted away into the contented bliss only aware of the heavy warmth of her insides and every point of her flesh that touched him.

Darynn woke feeling hot. Her skin felt like it emanated heat and a greater heat was pressed to her back.

She opened her eyes to find she lay half on her side and half on Dom. The slightest movement showed that they were wet with sweat everywhere they touched. The sky was blue and bright, but the sun had yet to rise high enough to be shining on them. She turned, shifting away from him, grimacing as their skin slid together. They were both still naked, but the blanket was over their lower bodies.

Dom’s eyes slowly opened. Damn, she hoped his appearance didn’t mirror her own. If she looked half as bad as he did then she probably looked like a freak show.

“Mornin’.” She had to get up, had to get away from the heat generating from them, but she stopped and kissed his head on the way up.

He mumbled something, but she didn’t catch it and figured it wasn’t important enough to ask him to repeat it.

They sorted through their clothes and dressed, then hastily packed up the mattress without exchanging words. If she didn’t feel like every once of water in her body was oozing out through her skin in the growing heat she might have been more talkative. Plus her mouth was sticky from the night of drinking.

She didn’t feel like pulling the monkey act of the night before to get into the cab, so she let Dom help her down.

“Watch for scorpions,” he warned.

She looked down at their feet, hers in black leather, his bare. “Look who’s talking.”

Inside the cab she dug out the two most important things in her stash. Water and pain medicine. She took three of the pills with as much water as her stomach would accept. Dom took an equal number, but kept the bottle of water, sipping it slowly.

His voice was rougher than usual when he spoke, “What else you got hiding in here?”

She smiled, starting the truck, “If I told you that it wouldn’t be a secret.”

Darynn was slightly nauseous and had more than an edge of a headache, but it didn’t stop her from enjoying the drive. When they’d left the highway it had been dark and she’d had to drive slow. That wasn’t the case now.

Dom held onto the door as she bounced the truck through ditches and aimed for outcrops of rock to climb. One time they came down hard, the truck’s shocks absorbing much of the shock as it bounced upward, but it jostled them badly. Dom put a hand on the dash to steady himself and she laughed out loud. When he gave her a stern look she just laughed again.

“You’re dangerous in this thing,” he complained, obviously not liking the indignity of having to hold on.

Darynn frowned at him, but slowed and headed for flatter ground. “No more dangerous than you in a race car.”

His expression was thoughtful as he sat back, no longer having to hold on. “You compare this to racing?”

She shrugged, “Why not? Same basics. The vehicle has to be impressive before the driver. But the driving is the most critical part. In both cases a driver has to have the knowledge of the vehicle and its limitations, quick reflexes, perfect timing, and the ballsto do it all to win.”

He smiled, that slow smug smile that could make her melt. “You’ve got the balls and the brains. What does that make you?”

She pulled to a stop just short of the highway. “Formidable.”

Darynn was checking for traffic on the highway so didn’t see Dom’s head jerk around at her response, or his thoughtful nod.

They drove for a few minutes in silence, and Darynn had to wonder if the cab had shrunk or just felt like it. She felt hyperly aware of his proximity. Turning on the radio now would make her feel like a coward, so she refrained. Though she had to wonder if Dom was feeling the same pressing need to break the silence because he was the first to speak.

“How much did you make this weekend?”

Darynn lifted the brow he couldn’t see. A safe topic. He was chatting with her. How unlike Dom.

“Um, I think about thirty.”

He nodded, “Not bad.”

She sighed. Was he going to make her ask? After a few seconds she took the bait. “You?”

His lip pouted as if he were thinking, but the smug look didn’t quite leave his eyes, giving him away. He knew exactly how much he’d won. “Just under eighty.”

Darynn gasped, staring at him for so long that the tires left the edge of the civilized pavement and she had to pull back onto the road. “Holy shit, Dom! Eighty thousand? Some people don’t make that in a year. And you made it in a weekend!”

“Weekend’s not over.”

She gave him a sideways glance, but didn’t argue him. Obviously if he’d averaged forty-plus a day so far, he could make at least that much or more on the last day. The confidence of winning would push lower-ranked drivers to pit themselves against a higher-class driver, and be happy to pay for the honor with their winnings.

Dom could very easily leave Race Wars with two hundred grand or more.

They passed through the gates and drove slowly towards where their trailers were. On both sides an area had been set up to race. Dom’s eyes remained glued on the spectacle, his need to join plain.

She parked at the end of the row of their cars and shut the truck down. Pulling the keys, she turned and found herself caught in his gaze again.

“You okay?”

No smug smirk now, his concern was honest, and her stomach and several other parts of her anatomy flopped in response. Her normal curt reply didn’t seem appropriate and she bit her tongue for a few seconds until she’d come up with a better answer. “Yeah, just tired.”

He nodded, his eyes dropping and he sucked in that bottom lip. Darynn envied that lip and the regular attention it got. She smiled. So this was the awkward part. She leaned over and kissed his forehead, smiling when he glanced up at her. Then she got out.

By the time she’d circled the truck he was out and she held his dark gaze and nodded as she continued to move past him. A whisper of hopefulness kept her senses alert to him following her, but after only a few seconds she knew he hadn’t. Relief mixed with the undeniable disappointment, but she straightened her spine and forced her mind to different thoughts.

Shower, shave, and… nap! Darynn cranked the air conditioning and ran through the shower as quickly as humanly possible. She pulled the soiled sheets from the bed and threw a new one down. A box fan and a smaller fan got aimed in the direction she’d be in, and then she sprawled across the small bed naked, still damp from her shower.
