Disclaimer:
I do not own the Pirates of the Caribbean movie series, nor any of the characters from it. I do not make any money from the writing of this story.
Who Talks Like That?
Author's Notes: Thanks to the people who reviewed. I kinda knew about the whole people talking thing. It's just, I can't seem to write with one person talking in a paragraph. It confuses me. Lol. Um, I tried more description, I don't know if that's any better.
Disclaimer: Sadly, it dosn't belong to me. I'm a poor pauper woman who owns nothing. Especially not the story characters. Oh, no, wait! I do own The Devil's Dowry and all it's crew! Yay!!
Sage laughed giddily. She stood up and face a very tall ominous man with long red hair and a beard to match. He wore the usual white shirt, black pants, and boots. He also wore a red bandanna and a scraggly eye patch over his right eye. “No Gabriel. This be the infamous Cap’n Jack Sparrow. He was just havin’ a drink of rum with me, but now he be leavin’ ta’ find him a ship. Right, Jack?” Sage turned to face Jack, extending her hand in preparation to shake his. The crew’s eyes were on the scene, wondering what had gone on and what was going on. Jack extended his hand, but before shaking her’s, he pulled it out of her reach and squinted at her. “Actually, Miss Harmon, I rethought yer offer and I think I’d very much like to take it. I’ll take ye to the island and then ye take me where I need to be and I don’t save ye if ye be in trouble, Savvy?” He extended his hand again. Sage’s eyebrow shot up. Savvy, she thought, who talks like that? She shook his hand and turned toward the crew.
"Where be me Cabin Boy and me First Mate?” she asked them. Murmurs stirred them as they whispered to each other. “Quiet down, men!” she ordered, “I say tell me where they be.” Gabriel took a step forward and spoke up “Well, Cap’n Harmon, ma’am. Christian be on his way, he was runnin’ to this point last time we seen him. Kain be where Kain alwas.” s.” Sage smacked her own forehead in exhaustion and sighed, “Blast it! That boy and his rumors always get him in trouble. I cannot take much more of this tomfoolery and another thing…” Before they could hear what the other thing was Christian was pushing his way through the crew “Let me through! Bloody Hell!” he yelled pushing Gabriel and a young girl out of his way.
“I’m here, Cap’n! Sorry, I almost passed out it was that blueberry pie mum made last night.” Sage wasn’t listening as much as she was chuckling at the site of his shirt. “Ye didn’t have ta’ tell me that. I can see quite clear what ye couldn’t hold. It be on yer shirt. Yer a mess, kid. No worries, I need ye ta’ go get another hammock and tie it in the corner. We’ll be sleepin’ with a guest ta’night.” She nodded toward Jack. Christian was very confused but did as he was told and hurriedly pushed back through the crowd to go find the hammock. Jack, who was sitting back down by now, was chugging his bottle of thi thirstily. When he saw her staring at him, he put the bottle down. “What? I be sleepin’ in here with ye?” Quickly he got up and came around the table to her side and rested his arm around her shoulders. “Can’t get enough of ‘ole Jack, love?” She looked at him disgustedly and threw his arm off of her “Don’t touch me. Ever.”
She took a step forward until she was standing in front of her crew. “Out.” She said, “All handsdeckdeck so I can introduce ye ta Jack. Handsomely now, men!” One by one the crew filed out and into the sunlight. When they were on deck and in a line Jack and Sage strode over to one end of the line to stand next to a rather short, yet very pretty girl with short, curly, red hair. Her nose rounded off in a cute way and was very little. She had green eyes that shone like that of a cat’s with wiliness. She wore the same as the others and deep red bandanna rested on her head. Her head was down making her seemingly meek. “This,” Sage said to Jack, “is Lareyna.” Lareyna looked up for only a second at Jack and ed. ed. “How do you do, sir?” she said in a small, whispery voice reminiscent of the autumn wind. Jack bowed to her as he and Sage step over in front of the next crewmember.
Next was a short, muscular man with brown hair and a rather large gold earring and a big moustache. He wore a banded t-shirt and black pants and boots. He seemed very egotistical for he was standing there flexing his muscles, overtly showing off. His nose came to a rounded point. From the looks of it he could have been a gypsy. Jack looked over at Sage who was clearly trying to smother her laughing, which caused Jack to break into a half smile. “This,” Sage said, coughing trying to get the amusement from her voice, “is Iron Henry. You, erm, can see why we call him that, yes?” “Yes.” Jack said eyeing the man with confusion as they moved on.
A tall, young-looking female stood before them. She wore a black leather dress and a brown belt that held a whip by her side. She was very muscular in build, but was softened by her long blonde hair and light brown eyes. Her boots were very well taken care of and had brown fur around the tops of them. She was very beautiful, despite the rough exterior. Suddenly she brought her hand forward a grabbed Jack’s, shaking it until he shook with it. “Hullo, Mister Jack. My name is Mad Diansh. sh. I watch da prisoners. We have none right now, so no work for Diana. Nice to meet, Da?” she said in an accent that Jack pegged as Swedish. “Da. I mean, erm, yeah.” Jack said. Eyeing her with slight fear they stepped forward yet again.
A very feminine looking, tall, stout man stood towering the both of them. His eyes were squinched together making his nose and lips move fartherhis his face. “This is Carver,” Sage told him, “He doesn’t really talk, no one knows whyhey hey quickly moved on to the tall, redheaded man who had came to Sage’s rescue earlier. His arms were wrapped around him and he looked angry. Sage waved her hand between the two of them whimsically “Ye, o’course, have already met Gabriel the Red. He’s the one that protects us all around here. He’s a bit crazy with it, but better that than none at all. Gabriel, be nice.” Gabriel unfolded his arms in a surprisingly pouty way, as if he was just scolded by him mom, and held out his hand which Jack shook. Abruptly, Gabriel pulled Jacks ear close to his lips and whispered “Watch yer back, me bucko. Harm one hair on her head and ye will dance with Jack Ketch.”
Sage pulled Jack away from Gabriel, tossing a look his way, trying to get done with the introductions. When they first arrived at the next crewmembers feet Jack was a bit surprised to see a little girl tugging at his jacket. She looked to be about 8 years old with eyes of crystal blue, alth thh they did not sparkle with the innocence you would expect from a girl her age. Her nose was rounded and small, yet fit her face well, She had not yet lost the baby fat from her cheeks although she didn’t look that far away from becoming a woman. Unlike the rest of the crew, she wore a dark blue dress and a matching bandanna. The dress seemed to have been, at one time, lacey and shiny. Now it looked worn with age. Sage pointed “This ‘ere be me little helper. Her name be Julia. Julia Lovelace, and ain’t she a cute little thing. Found her hidin’ on our boat once. Said her parents died in the fire, so I took her under me wing, so ta speak.” Julia waved at him and they moved along.
When is this going to end, Jack thought, how much crew can one woman have? That question was answered when he looked toward the end of the line. There was her last crewmember. Her wore what looked to be a red nightcap over a tangled mess of gray-white hair. A dingy white shirt took cover underneath a pair of brown overalls. The overalls had holes worn into them and pockets ripped ond ond one of the sides was worn off the shoulder. This man was a mess. He was dirty, stinky, and he didn’t match at all. “This is Jolly Roger.” Sage told him, “He doesn’t usually look like this, but last time he took a bath Christian left a snake in the tub and now the poor things scared of water.” Jack eyed the man and then turned toward Sage.
“My, that’s some crew ye have. That’s all, right?” Jack asked her. “No.” Sage told him shaking her head, “There’s one more. First Mate, Kain Macbeth, he would be here now, but, he has a great tendency ta get chased by women and inta hiding for a time. It’s a long story. Let’s just say that his reputation heralds him.” Jack nodded putting an eyebrow up. A call made them both turn. Looking toward the town they saw a man running toward them. “Hey!” he called “I’m coming. Don’t leave without me. I’m almost there!” Sage smacked her own forehead. “I don’t need this right now.” She said with an exasperated sigh.
