Chapter 3: my name

Chapter 3: A Name for the Savior

The two who survived, stopped a few minutes before they entered their home. They were tired, humiliated, and completely dishonored. A female’s voice greeted their entrance.

“Well, did you manage to kill her?” she asked.

The second male growled, “No, someone came in and killed Sel'de the guy came out of nowhere”

“And you ran why?” Her question appeared in the form of an angry snarl.

“There was nothing we could do, it was either run or die!” the other one yelled.

The female sighed “So, it seems our prey has a protector, this is going to be harder then I thought.”

“What are we going to do about the protector?” One asked her.

In the darkness she sneered, “I will just have to form another plan. I’m afraid you two are no longer useful to me.”

Before either could respond, their heads were cut off at the exact same moment. The headless bodies fell to the ground.

“I have no use for infants that believe they are warriors, if I’m going to take over the Darkblade clan, I’m going to need stronger warriors.” the female trilled then walked away from the gory mess she had made

She knew it was him, the creature she had seen those many years ago. The person that haunted her dreams, he looked at her and turned to walk away, when he felt something grab ahold of his trench coat.

Mio had grabbed the bottom of it, tears were threatening to come from her eyes. “Please,” she softly whispered “don’t leave me.”

The creature looked rather annoyed at her for a few seconds, his first words to her were: “Why? What do you need me here for?”

Her sorrow went to anger “I’ve waited ten long years to see you again! There hasn’t been a day that has gone by where I haven’t wished to see you. You’re one of the many reasons I walk at sunset! Just to try and see you again-” she groaned her leg was bleeding from her fall, she bit her lip.

His red eyes seem to burn when he saw the blood, but he ignored it. All he could do was hold out his hand. She looked up towards him.
“Here, I will walk you back home but then I wish to go on my way” He said, not sounding to happy to do it.

Mio grabbed his hand and he pulled her up and they began walking.

Ter’irc looked frustrated as he waited for his only daughter to return home. He was ready to go look for her, but then felt an arm gently on his shoulder, his new mate Iri’ca looked at him with soft eyes, she too had a look of worry in her eyes. Yet, she seemed to be taking it well.

“I should go look for her, she is never this late” Tre’irc said.

Iri’ca purred to calm him “She will be fine, she could have went to visit a friend. Don’t worry, she is a grown female, and very capable of protecting herself.”

“I don’t know.” He muttered.

“Give Mio more time,” She assured Ter’irc. “I am sure she is ok, and that someone is watching over her.”

With those words their son began to cry, Iri’ca went to attend to him, while Ter’irc resumed his watch.

……………………………….......................................................

The creature and half breed had only walked for five minutes, when she spoke to him. “So? What are you exactly?” She asked, “I have never seen anything like you before, though you do look very much like an Ooman.”

He sighed but answered, “I had been human once, but that was many centuries ago, I am a vampire.”

Mio cocked her head, “What’s a v-vampire?”

“It’s a creature that lives forever, never to die, though our hearts have stopped beating.”

Mio was unsure if this guy was serious or just plain nuts.

“But how can you be dead, when you are here, with me?”

“By agreeing to be a vampire, I’m in a way a demon in eternal limbo. I’m not allowed into either heaven or hell, and because I am a demon, I must feed on the blood of the living, and never enter into the light of day.”

Mio was dumbfounded, she was unsure of what to say or do, until, finally, she asked what may have been the easiest or hardest question to ask.

“If it seems so serious, why are you answering my questions?”

All the vampire could do was shrug, “Who knows? Perhaps, I feel sorry for what happened to you. Maybe, I am taking a shine to you very quickly, or maybe, I just don’t care. Or, there is the possibility that I just want to answer your questions to kill time, and hope that it will eventually shut you up.”

Mio blushed in embarrassment “I was just trying to make conversation.”

“You really don’t understand what I am, do you?” He asked her.

“No, and you know what else I don’t understand? You saved me, yet it seems that I am the most annoying person you could come across.”

“I believe we have reached your home?” He said changing the subject “I’ve have done what I said I was going to do. Now, I will take my leave before the sun rises.”

Just as he turned to leave, Mio’s hand stopped him. “Can I meet you again? I have more questions.”

He rolled his eyes and sighed, “Why am I so important to you? It’s better that we go our seperate ways forever. I will bring you nothing but pain.”

“Pain is pretty much all I know. There is just something about you that makes me want to know more about you.”

The vampire sighed once more. Finally, he looked at her straight in the eye and said “Very well, meet me by the falls at midnight, and we may talk.”

“Thank you, and one more question.” Mio replied timidly.

“What is it then?” Her rolled his eyes at her.

“What is your name? I feel awkward not having anything to call you.”

“…..Raven.” With that single word, carried by the wind to her, he slipped into the night
