Chapter 39

Mikaela was changing into a halter-top and shorts when Dom came into the room. “Everything is cooking. We should be ready to eat soon.”

“Good.”

She was angry but it was fading. “Sallah said you’re okay. He said you need food and rest but you’re fine.”

“Mmhmm.”

“Mick.” He turned her around to face him. “I know you’re feeling out of sorts right now but you know I’m right about everything I said. I need you to let me take care of things until our son is born.”

“Whatever you say, milord. I am at your command.”

“Baby, when this mood passes you’ll know I’m right. You need to feel our son. He’s amazing, beautiful, and loving just like his mother.” He kissed her forehead and ran his hands through her loose hair. “You’re beautiful when you’re angry.”

“I’m not angry.”

“Mick, you are an open book. You’re angry that I did that in front of everyone. You are upset about Letty and you are hurting because of Leon. Talk to me, baby.”

“I’m fine, Dominic. I will do as you say. I want to make you happy and proud of me. Anton will be here in a few days and I’ll show you how things are supposed to go.”

“I am proud of you. Do you have any idea how far you’ve come in the time we’ve known each other? You were a loner. Now you’ve become part of a family that loves you.” He kissed her parted lips and looked deep into the black depths of her eyes. “You created a family with me. I love you.”

“I love you too.”

“Baby, this is going to be a tough nine months for you. Let me help you and we’ll make it through together.”

She looked at the floor and nodded her head. “I’d do anything for my husband and my baby.”

“Let’s go outside and join the others. This can be our bachelor party.” He kissed her again and ran his fingertips over her temples and cheekbones. “Okay, baby?” She nodded her head and he steered her downstairs.

She walked over to a control panel next to the entertainment center, hit a few buttons, and the music came on outside. “Baby, you missed your calling. You are an electronics wizard.”

She smiled. “I do like my tunes.” She took his hand in hers and looked lovingly in his eyes. “Shall we, milord?”

“Definitely, milady.” They walked outside hand in hand and Mikaela smiled at the scene.

“Brian! Vince! You did a wonderful job with the fire. Thank you.” It was an impressive blaze and they had set out thick blankets around it for everyone to sit on.

Brian wore a dashing smile and she returned it. He gave her a quick hug and backed up. “You’re welcome.”

“Yeah. You’re welcome.” Vince came up and laid an arm on Brian’s shoulder. “You came through with the music.”

“I have more planned than just listening to CD’s. Let’s eat and kick back.” She moved to sit on a blanket and her eyes fell on Letty. “You coming?”

She had a dark mark on her chin and held her ribs. An understanding passed between the 2 women and Letty nodded. “Yeah.”

Mikaela made light conversation with everyone while they ate. She could feel their unease but over what she wasn’t sure. “I’m not crazy.” She whispered and stared into the flames.

Dom wrapped an arm around her waist and pulled her closer to him. “We know that, baby.”

“No. You know that. They aren’t sure. They saw me kill a man earlier today and attack my own family. Mia and Brian are scared of me and I almost killed Letty twice.” She looked up at all of them. “I’m not crazy. Nothing comes between my mate and me. Remember that and you’ll be fine. Oh! Apparently junior here is messing around with my moods as well. So be patient with me and we all might survive this pregnancy.”

They started to laugh and Dom could feel their tension ease off. “My grandfather could tell you that I couldn’t control my moods when I was growing up and it’s true. I never could until recently.” She placed her hands over Dom’s and interlaced their fingers. “Andros has been telling you how deadly I am. Thanks for that, cousin.”

“My pleasure, cousin.” He laughed. “I just wanted these poor people to know what they were getting themselves into.”

“Whatever. What he said is true as well. I found a small amount of peace when I was in high school and it was taken from me. I had no purpose left. I was lost and getting eaten alive by my gift. Without my friend I had no one and no control of my life.” A song started and she cleared her throat. Tears formed in her eyes so she shut them and started to sing.

In between choruses, she got to her feet and moved to the music. She didn’t open her eyes until the second chorus started and she stared at Sallah and Andros. The fire reflecting off of her black eyes was a captivating sight.

The meaning was not lost on anyone present. She felt lost by his death, manipulated by her family, and ran to save herself. Sallah and Andros had pained expressions on their faces.

“I understand, child. You were a precious thing that should’ve been treated as such. Instead, your entire family tried to use you and your gifts for their own needs. I apologize for my part.”

Andros’ eyes were shining with unshed tears. “When we were kids, we had so much fun. I even had a good time training with you until I began to see what they tried to make you into. You were an asset and nothing else.”

“It wasn’t your fault. You didn’t do anything.”

“I didn’t do anything to stop it either!” His anger and self-loathing grew instantly and it flared in her as well. Dom felt it stir within her and then he could sense her draw off of him to calm herself.

“Andros, we were the same age. There was nothing you could do.”

“I am of royal blood too.”

“They don’t care, Andros. You need to stand up to the elders. Take control of the family.” She held out her hand and helped him to his feet. “They are living in the past. You need to change that.”

“You are older than I. You are first in line.”

Dom came up behind her and placed his hands on her hips. She glanced over her shoulder at him, smiled, and turned back to Andros. “I’ll back you. You have my full support and, if you want to scare the shit out of them, tell them you have my power behind you as well. As a matter of fact, tell them my mate and I will be visiting the council to publicly back you.”

“Thank you, Mikaela.” He kissed her on both cheeks and hugged her. When he pulled back, he smiled at her and Dom. “When will you both be coming?”

Dom answered for her. “When she’s had time to adjust and regain her strength. How about a month?”

“You want to visit my family in a month’s time from now?”

“Yes, love. I think we can even manage a trip to Egypt afterwards.”

She turned to him and kissed him hard. “I have a song for you.” The Metallica S&M CD started. She placed her hands on his chest and his were on her waist.

They danced slowly to the music. Their eyes never left the others. Dom loved to hear her sing to him. He felt like he was in heaven.

The guitar rift picked up and she jumped up into his arms and wrapped her legs around his waist. He spun her around to the fast music and she giggled. The music eventually slowed down and so did he. He danced with her in his arms to the slow melody. She stared into his eyes and kissed him as the music faded away.

“I love you, Dominic.”

“I love you, baby. Thank you.”

“For what?”

“For the song and for the family.”

“You were right and so was I. You are all I need and I would like to be taken care of for a change.”

“Children.” They both turned their heads towards Sallah. “I had a wonderful evening. Dominic, your food was delicious. Mikaela, your voice was beautiful as always. I am going to turn in and I will see you both here at your union.”

“Good night, grandfather.” They said together which brought a smile to Sallah’s face. He nodded his head and walked to his temporary residence.

The couple laid down on the blanket in front of the fire. Brian and Mia were cuddling as well. The others began to feel like voyeurs.

Letty moved to get up and gasped in pain. “Are you alright?” She looked up at Andros and shook her head. He knelt at her side and probed her ribs with his fingertips. “We need to tape these. You stay here. I’ll go get some salve and tape. Okay?”

“Why do you care?”

“I have been on the receiving end of Mikaela’s beatings. I know from experience how badly they hurt. You got lucky that she pulled her punches.” He lifted her chin with his fingers. “Get over him quickly. She will hurt you without even thinking about it. What they have cannot be broken. I’ll be right back.”

Dom and Mikaela were kissing passionately and were oblivious to everything around them. Dom pushed her top down and palmed the heavy flesh of her breasts. He broke the kiss, moved down, and greedily sucked a nipple into his mouth.

He pulled her shorts down while he feasted on her hardened peak. Leon looked away while Vince stared at her body. “Fuck. She is hot. Are those real?”

The 2 of them headed home leaving behind the 2 couples and Letty. Andros came up and sat beside her on the blanket. “Let me see those ribs.” He lifted her t-shirt to just below her breasts. “Lie down.” She did as he instructed and watched him.

He opened a jar of ointment and gathered some on his fingers then rubbed it gently into her skin. “What is that stuff? I can feel it tingling.”

“Its ingredients are unknown to me. My people made it years ago. Only the elders know what is in it but we use it for all sorts of injuries. Its healing properties are well known as well as the speed in which it heals.”

She smiled up at him. “Used this stuff a lot, have you?”

“Like I said, I’ve been on the receiving end of my cousin’s wrath many times.” He heard Mikaela cry out and looked over at her and Dom.

Dom had stripped her naked and she was straddling his waist. She positioned his throbbing erection at her entrance and sank down onto his length. Her head rolled back and she moaned loudly. “Goddess. You are a goddess.” He panted as she rode him.

“He just has to touch me and I feel better. Why don’t you take her to the house next to yours so she can rest? We have a big day ahead of us and I want us all there.”

“Sure, cousin. I’ll see you both at the union.” He picked up Letty and carried her off to the empty house.

She looked down at his face and smiled. “Just a couple of hours away.”

He pulled her to his chest and stroked her hair. “Mr. & Mrs. Dominic Toretto.”

“I like the sound of that.” She drifted off to sleep with a smile on her face.
