I do not own the Pirates of the Caribbean movie series, nor any of the characters from it. I do not make any money from the writing of this story.
A Pirate in Shrunken Clothing
Author's Notes: Okay. I think I'm getting slighty better. I had a hard time with it, but, near the end I think I got the one person talking per paragraph thing pretty well. Well, what do you guys think?
Disclaimer: Okay, you caught me, I don't own it! Okay? Fine!! Just... just... make me cry why don't you. *cries* Oh... no... wait... *stops crying* I just realized I own The Devil's Dowry and her crew!! Muah hah hah. Sneaky devil, ain't I?
Jack looked from the running man and back to Sage a couple times before asking “That must be…” “Kain, aye, that be him, alright.” Sage told him, interrupting. Finally the man got to the boat and onto the deck. He was tall and skinny with a muscular build. His long brown hair was tied up with a white piece of cloth, but shorter pieces had escaped and were now blowing in the wind. He had a little beard a moustache that had a couple stray hairs, but other wise was well groomed. His face was freckled and a scar made its way over his right eye, it was clear the scratch didn’t damage his eye because they were both clearly hazel. He had a pointed nose that would seem ugly on any other person yet seemed to fit him very well.
He defiantly looked like a pirate, but his clothes didn’t fit the part. He wore a white silk shirt that was way to little for his build, which hung open in the front. The pants he wore looked like they belonged to someone half his age. He wore no shoes at all to cover his feet. “Cap’n.” he said, very much out of breath, “I’m sorry I be late. The women were after me body again. They tore me clothes off me body and then I had ta seduce an old lady so she’d give me a pair of clothes.” Sage rolled her eyes dramatically “So, me takes it that ye got chased again. Then, ye hid in a back alley or somewhere there be garbage, so ye smelled quite a bit. Ye made yer way to me mum’s house, took a bath and asked her for some clothes. That be about right?”
Kain laughed nervously “Um, How did you know?” he asked. “Well, me boy-o, next time ye use that story. Use it on someone whose brother’s clothes ye not be wearin’. Aye?” she told him. With that she walked off to go into her cabin. Kain nodded, putting his head down slowly, incidentally making him see an extra pair of shoes on the deck. Looking up he saw Jack, making him immediately defensive. Angrily, he asked Jack “Who be ye, mate?” Jack put up his hands excusing himself from any wrongs he was thought to be doing. “I’m Captain Jack Sparrow, mate. No need for all that. Just along for the ride. Savvy?” Kain just grunted and walked off in the direction of a door, Sage’s Cabin.
Down below, Sage was making sure Christian was getting Jack’s bed ready. “After this we really need ta get the ship movin’ we can’t be in Tortuga at night. We’d be plundered or that of the like.” Christian nodded “Yes. I know. I don’t know how mum stands livin’ in a place such as this.” Sage half-smiled, not really wanting to talk about that “We would’ve been undocking hours ago if it weren’t for Kain. It bugs me. All them women followin’ him around like he’s a hotshot. That scallywag hasn’t even been with a woman, mush less that many.” Christian laughed and turned finishing his job. Just as he did there was a knock on the door. “Aye?” Sage called.
“Permission to enter, Cap’n?” came Kain’s voice from the other side. “Aye.” Sage replied. Kain walked in and stood in front of her “Why be that bilge-sucking rat onboard?” he said. Sage rubbed her chin. “Who?” she asked “Jack Sparrow? Kain, ye know why he is onboard.” Kain folded his arms and paced the room, childishly. “We don’t need him, Sage. We were doin’ just fine without him finding Grogg.” He said.
“Are ye mad? Firstly, don’t use me name, boy, it’s mutiny on this here ship. Secondly, in case ye eyes aren’t open, we ain’t no closer to findin’ the Pearl then we were when we started this voyage.” Sage shouted, waving her arms around. Her face contorted into anger. “Look, ye don’t have to like him,” she told him, “but last time I checked this be me ship not yers so what I say goes. He stays. We need him.”
Kain ran a hand overtop his hair sighing. “Don’t ye think I know that Cap’n? I just… I just don’t like him is all.” He was about to apologize when he took sight of the newly placed hammock in one corner of the cabin. His eyes widened in surprise and sadness and his mouth dropped open. He looked from the hammock, slowly at Sage, his left eye twitching a bit. Stammering a bit he began to speak “H-h-he’s staying in- in you-your cabin with ye?” His voice wasn’t a question more of an exclamation of surprise.
Sage glanced over at the hammock and nodded “Aye,” she said, “I don’t want him sleeping in the crews quarters, he might convince ye all to mutiny or somethin’ like along those lines.” She looked at Kain and cringed at the look in his eyes. It was a look of betrayal. She looked at the scar across his eye, a scar that she was the cause of, and her features softened. “I won’t let him try anythin’ if that’s what ye’ be worried about. No worries, I be a big girl. Can take care of meself, I can.” Deciding it sounded to caring she immediately hardened her tone again. “I mean it.”
Kain sighed and nodded. “I understand. I’m sorry. I worry about ye. Cap’n or no Cap’n we were childhood friends, you and I. I protected you at one time, you know?” He ran a hand through his hair again. “Besides,” he said with a smile, “if he did touch ye, ye would break his hand sure enough.” They both laughed. “Well, I should be gettin’ up above on deck.” He said turning.
“Aye.” Sage said, “Tell the men ta set sail. Get us away from Tortouga.
Anywhere on the sea would be nice. Then, I’m takin’ me a nice long nap.” After hearing the door close behind her she turned toward Christian. “I don’t know what’s gotten inta him. We grew up tergether sure, but there be no need for all of that. I swear, you would think the boy be in love with me or somethin’.” She chuckled at the mere thought of this. Throwing a look at Christian who gave her a curdosy laugh. She shrugged and made her way to the deck.
