Chapter Three

(A/N: I want to thank BonnyBlondeLass and Ero Sennin for thier wonderful reveiws!!! They made my day! =])

That night after giving Katy her last meal of the day I was out on the deck by the railing looking up at the clear sky, some of the color on Katy's face was coming back, and she said she was feeling better. Hearing her say that eased the worry I had been feeling by quite a bit.

It must have been a new moon because the moon was missing, the stars were gorgeous and I sighed in contentment. There were still a few crewmen up on the deck; they were adjusting the sails for night.

I heard footsteps behind me, and then the captain took a spot by my side on the railing. "I've seen the sky from many places at night, but its beauty is magnified ten fold when you're on the ocean." He whispered.

"It's beautiful." I agreed softly, the sky was putting a spell on me, and I was afraid that if I spoke too loud that it would break.

"Ye know, I had a lot of plans before the curse hit me. I wanted to sail the seas for a few years, be just cruel enough and smart enough to become famous, then retire with a pirate lass as a wife. But fate has its own plans." Barbossa said softly. "My life has been full of amazing adventure, I've sailed under Henry Morgan's only son, Jeremiah Morgan, I've become the pirate lord of the Caspian Sea, and I've been for these past 10 years the captain of the fastest ship in the Caribbean. But I've been robbed of my life; I cannot enjoy it, not with this curse." He continued

"You're a pirate lord?" I asked, impressed.

"Aye, the honor was passed down to me by Jeremiah Morgan himself." He replied

"That’s... amazing!" I replied looking over at my captain. "Do you think you'll be apart of the Brethren Courts before you pass it on?" I questioned.

"I certainly hope not, the only time the courts have ever gathered it was because something horrible was happening... wait, how does some ship whore know about the brethren courts?" He asked eyeing me suspiciously.

"Oh, well, I used to sneak out of the room they kept us in at night and sneak into the library aboard ship. The captain was a privateer so he had lots of books about pirate lore. They were my favorites." I replied.

"That's very interesting, so you can read?" He asked me.

"Aye sir. I taught myself." I replied. I couldn't help but feel a little bit of pride in myself.

"Quite a feat for a ship whore." He said. His compliment had me beaming for unknown reasons. "Have ye eaten your evening meal yet?" He asked suddenly.

"No, sir, not yet." I replied. "I haven't been hungry since my breakfast."

"Aye, if what I heard was true then I wouldn't think so." He replied with a laugh.

I looked at him surprised. "What have you heard?" I asked.

"Oh, nothin' just something about you eating enough for 12 girls twice your size" He replied trying to look innocent.

"What?" I asked in mock offence. "Who said that? If it was Pintel I'm going to chop off his arms and hide them!" I replied looking at the captain.

The Captain roared in laughter "No, it was Grapple I believe who was tellin' Twigg and Koehler about you eating breakfast."

"He's going to wake up armless, without his bloody grapples tomorrow." I vowed.

"I'm looking forward to seeing that." The captain replied looking at me with mirth in his eyes.

I felt a strange feeling well up in my gut, and for some strange reason I wanted to kiss him.

"Are you hungry now?" He asked, breaking me from my thoughts.

"Yes." I replied, suddenly starving.

"I'll have Twigg prepare you something, and you can eat with me." He said.

"Oh no, I wouldn't want Twigg to have to make my meal for me, I can make something." I quickly said not wanting Twigg to feel more uncomfortable.

"Twigg used to be our cook, he loves to cook. The curse won't change that." Barbossa replied.

"If you're sure..." I started.

"Isabella, I am your captain. My word on this vessel is law." He said giving me a serious eye.

"Yes sir." I said. "I'm sorry."

"It be alright, Bella." He said smiling at me.

I couldn't help but smile back.

Dinner was amazing, Twigg was an excellent cook and I savored each bite.

"What be your last name Bella?" Captain Barbossa asked when I was about halfway through. Jack the monkey screeched on his little perch.

"Morgan. For some reason my mother wanted me to have my Father's name... even though I never met him." I replied eating a piece of bread. It was sourdough.

Barbossa had a puzzled look on his face. "What was your father's first name?" He asked slowly.

"Christopher." I replied easily. "He apparently was a Pirate, my mother was enamored with him, He visited her several times, however, after they conceived me he never came back again." I said bitterly. "My mother always blamed me for it."

"Exactly how old are ye?" He asked. Giving me a look I couldn't read.

"Twenty two." I replied, confused.

"Your father never came back because he was killed shortly after your birth by the Royal British Navy." He said evenly.

"How do you know that?" I asked, surprised.

"Your father, Christopher Morgan, was the son of Jeremiah Morgan. Your Father was also a very famous Pirate, just like his father, if you follow in their footsteps you'd probably be considered Royalty." He replied.

"That's... interesting." I replied, too shocked to say much else. "Did you know my father too, or just my Grandfather?" I asked.

"Aye, I knew your father, he was a bit older than me. I was a lad of fifteen when I first became a pirate, Captain Morgan took me in, and his son was his first mate. Three years later on the way to Tortuga we were taken by a navy ship. Your Grandfather and I were the only ones not killed in the battle, but your father was not so lucky." He said with his voice somber.

"That's horrible!" I said, probably a little louder than necessary.

"Aye, it was. Your grandfather was about fifty and he was heartbroken, it strengthened his resolve against the Navy quite a bit, and we both continued pirating, but he was never the same." He replied.

"Poor Grandfather!" I said, feeling sorry for the man I never knew. "How did you two escape?" I asked.

"We were taken to a prison close by, and they gave the keys to this dog. I've always been good with animals and I got him close enough to steal them away. Once we got to the docks we stowed away on this small Navy boat. Stupid men didn't even see us, when we were in open water we revealed ourselves. Seeing the famous Jeremiah Morgan scared the five man crew so badly they all jumped overboard." The Captain said with a small smile on his face.

"Wow! You've had so many adventures in your life!" I replied with wistfulness in my voice.

"Aye, it's been a full life for my forty years." He said.

"So, does this mean I'm pirate royalty?" I asked with an amused smile.

"In a way, but if ye are wantin' to be makin' a name for yourself ye gotta earn people's respect." The captain said.

"I hope I get a chance." I said. "I'd love to carry on the family business. I've decided I love the sea, and ships, and pirates, and cursed monkeys." I babbled.

Captain Barbossa laughed. "Well, you chose the right ship and crew eh?"

"No, the right ship and crew chose me, and I'll always be thankful!" I said with sincerity in my eyes. "I promise I'll make this up to you somehow."

"The best way for ye to make it up to us is to work hard, and never skimp on your duties." The Captain replied.

"Anything you need of me, consider it done." I said in answer.

"That’s good to hear. I'm always glad to have loyal crew." He said gazing intensely in my eyes.

The pull in my gut returned, I wanted to kiss him again.

"Are ye gonna finish that?" The Captain asked pointing to my plate.

"Aye!" I said breaking out of my trance.

I finished the dinner and I talked with the captain for another hour, about anything and everything.

When I went into the bunks I walked in to whistles and catcalls. I was royally confused. "What's up with you lot?" I asked.

"Bella and the captain sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G" Pintel, Grapple, and Koehler all broke out in song. I glared hard at them.

"Leave her alone you lot, she just had dinner with him." Ragetti came to my defense. I shot him a look of thanks.

"That's right guys, leave her be!" Katy said with a smile on her face.

"Yeah... that was just dinner... alone... in his private quarters?" Jacoby asked. "Not likely!"

"Ragetti is right, I ate dinner and he asked me questions about my past. That was it, and by the way Twigg, dinner was excellent! You have a quite a talent!" I complimented the cook who was sitting by Koehler and Grapple.

"Thank you, Bella!" He said, beaming from ear to ear.

"You're very welcome, anyway boys, I'm feeling lucky. Shall we play some poker tonight?" I asked, wanting to play a game of cards.

"You're a lady! Ladies don't play cards." Mallot said from across the room.

"Ladies don't join pirate crews and wear trousers either do they? Let's play!" I replied.

Pintel and Ragetti both took me up on my offer, so did Twigg, Grapple, and Mallot... but I think Mallot just wanted to beat me to prove his point. So we played for an hour or so, and I won a fair few of the games. The bright side was that I lost to Pintel one round so I got his swabbing duties.

After we played I went to bed. There was a lot of stuff in my head swimming around, the identity of my father, the curse, and my attraction to my cursed captain.

...

The few days went by very fast, we arrived at the Isle de Muerta without a hitch and pretty soon I was swabbing the decks regularly. Katy's heath returned shortly with a new vigor, and she took on some duties as well. I also was in charge of moving new cargo into the holds. Weapons, swag, drinks and food along with other supplies all had their place. It was my job to make sure they all got to those places.

In only a few weeks aboard the ship I had gained muscle and weight, I had a figure for the first time, my hips and backside swelled into a pear shape and my breasts got bigger. Katy had a new figure as well, but hers was still a bit leaner than mine.

Two weeks after arriving on the ship, Ragetti, Pintel, Katy, and I were all practicing swordplay one day and enjoying ourselves when Captain Barbossa came in. We all stopped what we were doing and turned to look at him. My stomach got this fluttery feeling again, it had been happening increasingly whenever I saw him, it made me feel stupid.

"What are you four doing down here?" The captain asked.

"We're helping Bella and Katy with their blade skills." Ragetti answered him slowly.

"Well the decks aren't going to swab themselves! Get up there now!" The captain replied in a roar. Pintel, Ragetti, Katy and I all scrambled toward the stairs. The Captain moved aside for Pintel. Ragetti, and Katy but the captain caught my arm before I left.

"I'm sorry, Captain, I didn't know that it would cause a problem!" I said immediately looking at my feet.

Captain Barbossa put a finger under my chin and lifted my face until I looked at him. "Ye look in me eyes when ye talk to me, Understand?" He asked sternly.

"Yes sir." I replied, looking directly in his eyes.

"You're not in trouble, but I'd think it'd be best if I were to take over your lessons." He said.

"Alright, Captain." I answered, relieved that I wouldn't get disciplined.

"Meet me in here tonight after you eat your evening meal. But for now go up and swab the decks with Pintel and Ragetti." He demanded.

"Aye sir!" I replied and I ran up the stairs to the main deck, grabbing a mop along the way. As I made my way over to Pintel, Katy, and Ragetti, they looked at me worried.

"What's wrong?" I asked once I arrived by their sides and began mopping.

"You didn't get in trouble did you?" Katy asked.

"No, he just told me that he was going to take over my lessons." I replied, swabbing my heart out, trying to forget the eager feeling in my stomach.

"Oy! The captain is the dirtiest fighter I've ever seen!" Ragetti replied, "You better have your eyes open."

"But I sparred with him before, remember?" I asked confused. "He followed the basic rules of engagement then!"

"He was going way easy on you mate, you better be prepared for a whoopin'" Pintel warned.

"Oh." Was the only reply I could think of, "Thanks for the warning."

That entire day I pretty much had knots in my stomach, I was glad for the alone time with the captain, but nervous he would decide my sword skills were below his high standards and throw me off the ship.

I ate a small meal of an apple (The green kind, I had never had them before but they were so delicious) and some bread. Katy ate with me but she had some salted meat too, but I couldn't hold anymore in my nervous stomach.

"Don't worry, Bella, I'm sure it's just and excuse to get you alone." Katy said as we ate. "I mean he would have asked me too if it were anything else right?"

"I think so." I replied. I didn't feel like talking much either.

After my meal I slowly walked down to the lower cabin, I had my sword in my hilt and I was ready... or at least I hoped so.

Once I got down the stairs the Captain was waiting for me, for the first time ever since seeing him his overcoat was off, he had a casual look about him. I felt the fluttery feeling again and coupled with the nervousness I nearly blew chunks on the wooden floor.

"No need to be nervous, Bella dear, this is only a lesson. But be warned I will work you hard." The Captain spoke after I arrived at the bottom of the stairs.

"Aye, sir." I replied immediately. "Is it that obvious that I'm nervous?" I asked, daring myself to crack a smile.

"If the paleness in your face didn't give it away, the shaking surely did." He replied with a low chuckle.

"It's just, Pintel said that-"

"Pintel is prone to exaggeration, I am quite a dirty fighter when need be, but I doubt that I'll need to be so with you. But it might be a good idea to teach you some of those tactics, seeing as you're a pirate now." Barbossa smirked at me. "Now, let's spar."

I unsheathed me sword and blocked just in time as he came at me.

"Always be prepared, the quicker you can get your sword out the better!" Captain Barbossa growled out as we clashed swords.

We continued for a few more minutes, I was getting tired. Then he kicked me in the stomach.

"Owwie!" I yelled like a toddler as I tumbled to the ground but I used my falling momentum to roll back onto my feet.

"Very impressive!" The captain commented as we sparred a little more. "If ye be fighting with pirates ye must always be prepared.

"Aye sir!" I said as my sword hit his in an especially powerful thrust.

"Good, put some muscle into it!" the captain roared in approval.

We continued for a few more minutes, my muscles were straining and I was getting tired. I gripped my sword tighter and continued to block and parry, but only a few moments later my sword was knocked out of my hands.

"You were gripping it too hard, Isabella." Captain Barbossa said with a victorious glint. "If ye hold on to ye sword too tightly, you'll lose it for sure. Keep your grip soft, and your wrists loose, or else ye 'ill lose the flexibility to deflect parries."

"Alright, sir, shall we try again?" I asked, eager to learn more.

"Maybe a little later love, but right now I want to take you to the weapon hold so we can find you some more weapons." The captain said. I blushed a little at the name love.

Together we walked down to the weapons hold. I smiled as we went in, I had organized it myself and it looked much tidier than it had been.

"Now, ye already have one pistol, but I think it might be a smart idea to pick out a few more, just in case." Captain Barbossa said before picking out a pistol and handing it to me. "You can never be too prepared."

I took the pistol. "Aye, Anything Else I should take?" I asked.

"Whatever you feel is necessary, it be your own life at risk, so take whatever ye need." He replied.

"Alright." I said. I looked around the room slowly. I walked over to the blades and picked out a dagger that had caught my eye when we stole it from a ship we had captured. I picked it up and slipped it in my belt. I also took a smaller blade and used it to put up my hair in a bun, the hilt looked like a fancy clip, not a weapon.

"Clever" I heard my captain say from behind me. I looked over my shoulder at him and winked.

I continued to look around the room to see if anything else caught my eye in particular. I saw a whip in the corner. I walked over to it and picked it up. I showed it to the Captain. "Could you show me how to use this?" I asked.

He gave me an amused look. "What will you be needing a whip for, Bella?" he asked with an eyebrow raised.

"Oh, I don't know, it might come in handy." I replied nonchalantly.

"Well, if you be wanting to learn, I'll teach ye." The captain said back huskily.

"Thank you." I replied.

A few short moments later we were back in the lower cabin and he was teaching me how to use the whip. I was trying to grab a sword from his hand with it. I surprised both the Captain and myself by succeeding the first try.

"Very good Bella!" The captain exclaimed. I grinned in triumph. "Let's keep going."

We kept going for at least two more hours; practicing with the whip, cutlass and daggers. By the end I was exhausted and sweaty but I didn't complain because I was happy to be bettering my skills at battle.

After we had finished all that practice I looked over at the captain. "How did I do, Captain?" I asked.

"Ye did fine, Bella, with more practice like this soon you'll be one of the best fighters on the ship!" He replied happily.

"Thank you, captain!" I said, happy as well. My smile faltered slightly. "Captain, may I ask you something?" I asked slowly.

"You just did." He said as he shrugged his overcoat back on. "But feel free to ask another question if ye like."

"Have you ever been in love?" I asked. The second it left my mouth I felt sheepish and absurd. "Forget I asked that, stupid question." I continued in a hurry. I couldn't quite read the expression oh his face.

"It's not a stupid question, doll, I'm just wonderin' why would ye ask it?" The Captain countered with a still unreadable look upon his face.

"I've never been in love; I don't even know if I'd know what it felt like." I replied. I knew that wasn't the complete reason, but for some reason I couldn't bring myself to confess my true feelings just yet.

Barbossa chuckled then replied. "Ye will know, Bella. But don't worry about that quite yet. Ye have plenty time still for romance."

"I know, but sometimes I wonder what it feels like. I don't think I've ever been loved or had anyone to love." I said wistfully.

"A lot of pirates feel that way when they start out. But before long ye crewmates become your family." The captain replied. walking over and putting a reassuring hand on my shoulder. "But enough talk for now, you must be exhausted. Let's get you to bed."

Knowing resistance was futile I gave a weak "Alright." And let him lead me to towards the deck. The moonlight hit him as we walked up the stairs. Seeing his skeletal form no longer frightened me, it just made me sad.

"Goodnight, captain" I said to him as we parted ways.

"Goodnight, Bella." He purred as I walked to the bunks.

Everyone gave me the usual curious stares as I walked to my hammock. I just gave them all a grin. "Goodnight, everybody" I said as I climbed in.

"So how did it go?" Katy asked me from her hammock after I laid on mine.

"It was a lot of hard work, but enjoyable." I replied. It took me all of two minutes to fall asleep.
