*Padme’s apartment*
Anakin sits up startled when he hears an explosion in the distance. He jumps our of bed and runs to the window. He shuts his eyes when he sees fire slowly consuming the Jedi temple.
Padme: Anakin, what is it?
Anakin: I’m sorry Padme, but I have to go.
Padme stares at him fighting back the tears, “The Jedi Temple? The younglings…” He picks up his clothing and hurriedly puts them on. Padme jumps out of bed to assist him.
Anakin: Don’t worry about me.
Padme: How can I not worry when your going off to fight who knows what…
Anakin: I’ll come back… I promise you. I’ll come back to you.
He heads for the door, but she stops him. They kiss.
Padme: Be careful…
He nods and runs towards the landing platform. Padme picks up his cloak and his light saber and runs after him; R2 follows.
Padme looks horrified as her husband prepares to leave. She puts on his Jedi cloak.
Anakin: Padme, I will come back… I promise you.
Padme looks away from him, so he won’t see her cry. He gently lifts her chin.
Anakin: I promise you.
She nods.
Anakin: I love you, Padme.
Padme: I love you … I always will Anakin.
Padme: Go with Anakin, R2.
Anakin jumps into his speeder.
Padme: Anakin, remember you made me a promise.
Anakin: And I plan to keep it… I won’t take long.
Anakin takes off in his speeder and Padme drops to her knees. Threepio walks over to her, “Oh, Miss Padme… is there anything that I can do?”
Padme: Make sure that the hologram projector is working… it’s going to be very important today.
*Jedi Temple* - Chapter 4
Anakin runs to the temple ruins; he stops when he sees Yoda.
Yoda: Destruction… so much destruction.
Anakin: Who did this
Yoda: Death stars… Trade Federation along with others I fear.
Anakin: Any survivors.
Yoda looks up at him, sadly, “Only a few padawan… younglings I fear not.”
Anakin: I will…
He stops talking when he sees some rubble slightly shaking. Yoda notices this too and uses the force to pick it up. A beat up youngling stands up slightly shaken, but not badly injured. He looks at Anakin.
Youngling: Master Anakin… Master Windu.
Anakin: Master Windu?
Youngling: (cough) He left… so they would stop there attack.
Yoda: Yes, yes Master Windu sacrifice himself for the Jedi I fear… quick we must be.
Anakin nods; he turns and looks at the Padawan standing next to Yoda.
Anakin: Quinn, gather all the padawan that you can and search for survivors.
Padawan: Yes Master.
Anakin: You’re in charge until we return… I’m counting on you.
Padawan: I know Master.
The Padawan runs to the small group of padawan standing on the opposite side of the temple.
Anakin: Are there any star fighters left?
Yoda: One, waiting for you I was. Other Jedi already making there way to the Battle Ship... Waiting for your orders they are.
*Trade Federation Battle Ship*
Viceroy Gunray angrily looks at his guards.
Gunray: Who ordered the retreat?
Lott Dod: I did Viceroy Gunray.
Gunray: And what makes you think that you are able to give out orders?
Lott Dod: There were too many… too many Jedi.
Gunray: The plan was perfect…
Lott Dod: I fear all we did is set ourselves up for defeat.
Gunray: I do not have time for your insolence… defeat?… not by the Jedi.
He signals for his guard to open the door.
Gunray: Take me to my prisoner.
Guard: Yes Viceroy
Viceroy Gunray follows his guard; they exit the room.
*Obi Wan Kenobi‘s star fighter*
Obi Wan: There it is R4... Neimoidia is straight ahead.
R4: Whistles.
Obi Wan: I know R4, but back up is not an option right now.
R4: Beeps, angrily.
Obi Wan: Anakin? Why does everyone always rely on him.
R4: Beeps.
Obi Wan: Fine.
*Anakin‘s star fighter* - Transmitting orders
Anakin: Master, my tractor shows that the Neimoidia is close.
Yoda: Very good… very good.
Obi Wan: Anakin, I am less then a par sack away from Neimoidia… I’m going to infiltrate the palace.
Anakin: No… one Jedi cannot defeat an entire army. You taught me that yourself.
Yoda: Very wise Master Skywalker is. His lead you should take.
Obi Wan: His lead?
Anakin: Listen to me Master. You will need reinforcements… I have some on there way. I will be there shortly. Do not penetrate the palace until I say.
Yoda: Advice you should take if life you value.
Obi Wan: Yes Master Yoda.
*Obi Wan Kenobi‘s star fighter*
Obi Wan: R4, I thought I was the mentor; when did I become Anakin’s padawan.
*Jedi Temple*
Padme shakes her head when she sees the ruins of the Jedi temple. She smiles when she sees a youngling; she walks over to him.
Padme: Hello, I’m Padme Ami…
Youngling : Senator Padme Amidala.
She smiles at him.
Youngling: Master Anakin talks about you all the time.
Padme: Is there anything that I can do?
Youngling: I think so… I should ask Quinn, he is the padawan in charge.
Padme: Okay…
Youngling: Quinn! Quinn!
Quinn: What Simi?
Simi: Senator Amidala, wants to help.
Quinn bows in respect.
Padme: Is there anything that I can do? Is there anything that I can help with?
Quinn: As you see there is much destruction; right now we are searching the Youngling headquarters… looking for survivors. (handing her a scroll) you can mark the names of the Younglings as they come to you… or cross them out as we find them.
Padme puts her hand on the japor snippet around her neck, “Anakin please be okay… please come back to me soon.”
