Black Gold

A Pirate's Life for Me

A Pirate's Life for Me
PG-13
5: Black Gold
Disclaimer: Same ol', same ol'.
Warnings: If you don't get it by now, I greatly fear for your intelligence. But just in case (and this is the last warning, because I'm getting too lazy), this is the beginning of the Will/Jack slashy goodness.
Note: Okay, I've kind of taken all of your advice into consideration. I'm going to rewrite certain points in the story to make it make more sense (or not, like Jehan's Muse suggested…) and stuff, so I'll tell you when I do, and if/when I do, it'll be something small and everything. Kind of like Elizabeth saying goodbye to Will before diving overboard or something. But thank you to everyone who left a review, and also thanks to everyone who left a vote or something about the oil. But not many knew anything, but oh well. Just pretend, because I doubt oil was very valuable back then. But then again, they used oil and it was valuable a long time before the 17th century (when the movie is based), just not in the same way. But then again, that was whale blubber. Oh well… just pretend. It plays an important role later on. You'll see.
With that long note outta the way, on with the show! -fanfic! -story! -thing!
PS: Also, after seeing the movie another time, I figure out that I shouldn't have Jack speaking in the pirate-dialect thing, because while some does come through, he pretty much speaks regular English. And quite well I might add! ;) Plus I'm lazy. Being trained to write proper English has its downsides. But there will be occasional glitches.
*~*~*~*
It had been two weeks since the attack from Norrington and his men, and they hadn't heard from them since. The only things that had really changed much was that Anamaria had renounced her post as first mate and Jack had given it to Will, after some ruthless persuasion from her and mischievous glint in her eye. They had also had to make an emergency stop at a small, out-of-the-way port to have the ship mended. The right amount of money assured them that the people would have no memory of the Pearl or the infamous Jack Sparrow.
Now they were once again sailing off into the horizon, looking out for any potential victims as well as heading for Tortuga, where it would make berth for a few days so that they could sell their booty. What they wanted to sell, at least.
But right now, everything was going to hell, it seemed.
"What is it?" Will asked, walking over to where Jack was leaning against the rail, squinting into the distance, as the looking-glass thing was nowhere to be seen. The rest of the crew was resting, but they would spring to action if the situation arose. As the first mate, he was usually let in on the plots before the rest of the crew.
"Do ye see that ship out there?"
"Aye," Will replied uncertainly. "And what value is it to us? It's no merchant vessel."

"Whelp, do you not realize that we, as pirates, steal from ev'ryone?" Jack questioned rhetorically, twirling his wrists elegantly.
Will chose to ignore it, for he saw it as it was: rhetoric. "But that still doesn't answer my question. What value is it to us?"
Jack turned his head slightly, lips curling into a smirk. "Do you mean to tell me that William Turner, son of ol' Bootstrap Bill Turner, don't know treasure when he sees it?" Jack swaggered from the railing, moving until he was just beside Will, before adding, "We'll just have to remedy that."
He turned around, going back to his perch near the railing, his hips swaying sensually.
"What does it have gold aboard or something?" Will continued, seemingly oblivious to Jack's subtle innuendo.
"Aye," Jack whispered. "Black gold." With that, he grinned roguishly before reclaiming his post at the helm, and shouting orders for attack, which roused the crew into action. He ended them, as always, with, "Savvy?"
*~*~*~*
Will and Jack swam quietly to the ship that was toting the oil, planning to 'commandeer' the ship to Tortuga, where they would have massive amounts of Black Gold to sell on the black market. There was so much that the Pearl would sink just by putting on tankard of oil aboard. They had just realized it.
They climbed aboard via a rope in the back, and before the rest of the crew knew it, Jack Sparrow and William Turner marched right on up, Jack pulling out a recently reloaded gun and saying, "No need to panic, we are merely taking over the ship."
The reaction was nearly an exact replica of what had happened back at Port Royal a while back, except for it was partially saved by Will not performing his overly enthusiastic "Aye! Avast!" routine.
The oil sailors quickly stopped laughing as Jack cocked the gun and pointed it at the captain's head. "You fail to remember one important detail, mate. I'm Captain Jack Sparrow." He pulled the trigger.

(A/N: sorry about the AN! I'm really wondering if I should leave you here… No, it just wouldn't be right. After all, the chapter is too short already. And I can just leave a different cliffy. *evil laughter*)

The bullet went whizzing through the air before stopping and embedding itself at the wood that was behind them all by roughly ten feet. Jack had purposely missed, not wanting to kill off the captain so early when he could be valuable in the future. Or, at least until they got to Tortuga, where they would have no choice but to kill him. He would be a liability in the future if they didn't kill him.
The oil crew just stood in shock for a moment, before bringing out their weapons and charging on Jack and Will. What none of the oil crew noticed was that they were being picoff off one by one by an out-of-range shooter. This person was Cotton. (AN: Sorry again! I just like to say that Cotton wasn’t getting enough credit in my fic, so I needed him for this one. Plus he's just mute, doesn’t mean he can't shoot really well.)
Soon, the only ones left were the first mate, the captain, and a cabin boy. "You, boy," Jack spoke, "go secure everything for changing course." The boy scampered off, but not before an unknown and secretive glance was passetweetween the captain and the cabin boy, seemingly reaching an agreement.
"Good thing they don't know about parley, huh, Jack?" Will whispered as they were waiting for some of the crew to get over there and help, and at the same time as Will picked up their prisoners' weapons.
"Ye're right. I prolly would have blasted them all to kingdom come just like my former crew members were about to do," Jack answered in slight amusement as Anamaria and Gibbs came across and onto the deck.
"What d'ye need, Cap'n?" Gibbs asked first, awaiting orders. Anamaria just watched and waited, that blasted smirk still on her face from watching Will and Jack together.
"Oh, yes… Gibbs, I need you to just tie these two up, and Anamaria, you can slap them if they get too restless," Jack answered.
He got a slap from Anamaria. "I will not just be around to slap people who you feel are not good enough to just kill!" she yelled at him, shaking her finger in his face.
"Okay, okay. I get it. Just tie 'em down and make sure they don't get too rowdy and try to fight," Jack amended, truly afraid of getting slapped by her again. She was strong; stronger than Scarlet and Giselle back in Tortuga. And she was scary when she wanted to be.
Will was watching all of this, trying not to laugh out loud. It was a good thing that Jack could be taken down a notch by her, but it didn't help that he felt a little jealous. Probably just the sun playing tricks on me. I'm more tired than I thought. He concluded before just sitting down and waiting for them to get moving.
Suddenly, it seemed like the ship was getting lower and lower as they began to take on water. What the… Will's thoughts were cut off by a the sound of a gunshot ringing through the night.
*~*~*~*
I hope that wasn't too short again! And I promise, you might not know where I'm going with this, but it's important. I don't care if I'm not being historic enough. And I left it at a cliffy again. MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!
