==========

Is evil aware? Can it be? One can never really understand the motivations of chaos. But it has been understood that something about Jason Voorhees changed after his last encounter with Tommy Jarvis. Lightning was said to have re-animated Jason’s corpse….that wasn’t true.
Not exactly anyway.
Was is true is that the lightning opened a pathway. A vector for evil to inhabit Jason’s body. Call it a demon, if you like. But that force was truly responsible for the re-animation. It’s motivations were akin to Jason’s own and so, one they became.
Jason’s needs were few. To continue punishing bad people around Crystal Lake. That was all. And so that was all the force provided. Every so often, re-animation. And of course the regeneration of missing parts.
That was all Jason ever needed.
That doesn’t mean that was all the force was capable of. Just….why give Jason more when it wasn’t needed?
That force was waking up. It was aware of Jason’s odd reaction to the young female counselor. This was unique. This was an opportunity.
Maybe they could try something new now.

After all, Jason had occasionally done away with people who really hadn’t done anything to provoke him. Why couldn’t he do it this time?
The Inhabitor, as it liked to consider itself, was inspired by Jason’s quaint scruples. It was really the only interesting thing about Jason after all. Due to the unique nature of the Inhabitor, Jason’s extreme single-mindedness was considered exceptionally dull and boring. So the being within him simply did the minimum required, and more or less slumbered the rest of the time.
There just wasn’t any point in trying anything novel with Jason…so it simply hadn’t tried.
Now however, Jason’s current reactions towards the girl were….inspiring.
The Inhibitor wondered if Jason could….
Well maybe that was hoping for way too much.
First off, the Inhabitor had to get a good “look” at what it had to work with.
Ew.
Not pretty.
But then, nothing about a drowned, burnt, and scarred corpse really is good to look at in the first place.
And of course the deformities that Jason started mortal life with, but then, decomposition had been somewhat of a blessing in that area.
A lot of work needed to be done. It would require a lot of energy. The Inhabitor despaired briefly, knowing that such energy usually came when Jason was killing. Which meant the potential for his own bodily damage increased. It wouldn’t do if all that energy just went right back into mundane repairs.
There was some stuff the Inhabitor could do right away. It had already halted decomposition (nothing really special, it always did that, Jason couldn’t sneak up on anyone if he stank to high heaven).
It did for the first time, begin to spend some energy on the “goods”, which were usually shriveled and useless. But it was energy well spent.
Jason usually got excited by killing, thus the Inhabitor would get energy. If Jason could get excited by something else….
Possibilities.

Jesse felt awful. She’d stayed awake still “looking” for Luke’s shit along with everyone else last night. She’d never been a convincing liar, so it seemed the wisest course. Besides what would she say? Hey Luke I destroyed your fucking drugs now let’s all go get some shut-eye?
Tommy was waiting for her, as always. She simply took his hand and off they went into the woods.
It was still hot. The humid air just seemed to hang on everything. Jesse was soon soaked through.
“Tommy? You doing okay?” She asked as she checked his forehead and cheek. He was sweating, but his skin was still fairly cool. He hadn’t wheezed at all so far.
She looked up. Suddenly it seemed very quiet. No birds sang.
*Silly, it’s too hot, of course they aren’t singing.* She thought even as she shook her own head. *But if you just now noticed it….that means “something’s” different, doesn’t it?*
She continued to look around, and nearly ran into Tommy.
He’d stopped and begun to stare at something.
It was a tent.

Director Bradley paced in front of the tent. With him were Jesse, Kevin, and much to the Director’s displeasure…Crystal Lake Deputy Ralph Sage.
“I still say they just took off. They won’t be paid for the whole summer, and you can bet this stunt has lost them some college credits.” Bradley said.
Jesse shook her head. “Sir, they left their clothes. The one’s they were wearing when we last saw them. Who takes off naked?”
Deputy Sage was in total agreement. “Mr. Bradley, she has a very good point. It really does warrant further investigation.”
The Director spared a glare at Jesse, who ignored him, and just kept looking at the tent.
Kevin was no help. Jesse had come back into camp soaked in sweat, as she still was, and Kevin hadn’t been able to tear his eyes off her damp clingy t-shirt.
“So they changed clothes in the tent and couldn’t be bothered to pack them before taking off.” Bradley tried.
“All Donna’s stuff is still in her cabin, I checked before I called the Deputy.” Jesse said.
*Damn Her!* Bradley thought as his teeth ground together.
“Aside from their clothes being here, is there any evidence of foul play?”
“Not….really.” The Deputy answered as he gazed steadily at the Director.
“Well then? How do you want to proceed Deputy?” Bradley asked crisply.
Not taking his eyes off the Director, the Deputy replied “I’d like to bring out a few men for the next couple of nights. Do some looking. We won’t interfere with your camp, or send the kids home…yet.” He finished with emphasis.
“Fine then.” Director Bradley said as he headed off down the path back to camp.
Kevin finally came out of his boob-daze and took off after him.
Jesse looked coolly at the Deputy. “Clothes missing their people IS a sign of foul play, or at least suspicious circumstance, isn’t it Deputy Sage?”
Sage regarded her for a moment, then stepped closer to her. “You listen. Get your shit together. Leave here. Tonight.”
Jesse stepped back and looked at him. Can a man be haunted? Jesse thought so looking at Sage.
He nodded. “My grandfather always said it. He’d ride his bike all the way out here and try to warn them. No one listened. Folks loved the old man enough to name me after him, but that was it. Thought he was crazy. They don’t think that anymore.”
Jesse thought he looked a little insane.
“Director Bradley’s gonna get what’s comin’ to him. There’s people around here who know what he’s been up to buying up all the Lakefront Property. It’s a heap of shit is what it is.”
Jesse took a couple more steps away.
“Heap of shit. Crystal Lake has always been good at sortin’ it’s shit.” He’d looked toward the Lake at that. A mixture of fear and…respect on his face. But then he looked right back at Jesse.
“You seem like you use your head for somethin’ other than the latest hat, so you listen to me good. Get out.”
Jesse found her voice. “I can’t.” She whispered. “All these kids…”
The Deputy nodded in understanding. “For that, I hope the Lord has mercy on your soul. Because HE likely won’t”

Kevin had not been the only one noticing Jesse’s wet t-shirt. Standing in the brush, closer that one might expect, stood Jason. He’d watched the whole group for some time, patiently assessing how they were reacting to the “abandoned” tent.
Their reactions were typical.
Jason found his focus narrowing on the girl again.
He viewed her sweat-soaked t-shirt dispassionately….for a moment.
The bad boy’s eyes were riveted to the girl’s chest, he would have to die.
Inexplicably, Jason found himself staring at them again himself. Wondering how they would look uncased from that t-shirt.
For the first time, he felt a thrill go through his body as he wondered how they would feel.
Just the thought was exhilarating. As the greedy man and the bad boy moved off, Jason marveled at the strength the rush gave him. He’d never wondered at himself before.
His eyes narrowed on the girl again.
The deputy was standing closer to the girl than Jason liked.
He would have to keep a close eye on her.
Her nipples were hard through her shirt.
Jason was stroking the handle of his machete.

The Inhabitor was surprised by it’s success. It had never tried to influence Jason so directly before. But caution was needed. His project had just experienced the rush of sexual manhood for the first time.
As if Jason wasn’t dangerous enough before…

Author’s Note: I know….I’m taking a lot of time getting to the good stuff, but a squishy corpse with decomposed equipment is NOT going to get very far on his own.
