CHAPTER 6
Treasure lay on the bed thinking about Captain Jack Sparrow for a wee bit longer then rolled over and rose to her feet. She straightened her old gray dress, which was a mess from having slept in it. She got to thinking again about the situation in which she found herself.
‘I have to do SOMETHING…ANYTHING’ With that thought she marched over to the door and swung it open.
Bright sunshine greeted her and Treasure blinked her eyes against the sudden light. She rubbed her eyes, closed the door behind her, raised her dress slightly and started up the stairs leading to the deck of The Black Pearl.
Treasure looked around the deck. There were pirates running around everywhere. A rather large dirty bearded man was pulling on a rope. Treasure’s eyes followed the rope up to the ship’s sails. She didn’t know a lot about sailing since she had previously been a cook. Most of her days had been spent in the galley cooking and cleaning for the crew. A sad thought crossed her mind thinking of the men from her crew that Captain Jack had released. They were all her friends, and she hoped and prayed they were alright.
Treasure looked over and saw Jack standing at the helm of the ship. Hoisting her dress again, she marched directly over to him.
“Captain, I would like to speak with you.”
Heads turned at the sound of a woman’s voice and it was suddenly quiet.
Jack gave Treasure a crooked smile and barked to the crew, his arms swinging wildly, “Get Back To Work, ye Scurvy Dogs.” The work resumed immediately and Jack turn to Treasure.
“I’m a wee bit busy at the moment, luv. There is a ship behind us and I need to know if they are following, or just at the right place at the wrong time.”
Jack reached over to take Treasure’s hand to lead her back toward the steps to his cabin, but she jerked her hand away and crossed her arms.
“I’m not gonna stay cooped up in that room,” she announced. If you don’t have the time to talk to me right now, then please tell me something I can do around here.” Jack eyed the young lass cocking his head to one side.
“Well, luv, do you think you could help in the galley and stay out of trouble?”
Treasure didn’t know if her was joking or serious. Working in the galley was fine with her, but she KNEW she had NOT caused any trouble since she was taken aboard.
“I have not caused any trouble,” she said glaring at Jack. “At least Not Yet”, she added.
Jack frowned and held her glare with his own. Treasure couldn’t help but notice how deep and piercing his eyes were. Jack broke the glare first and called to Gibbs to come over and lead Treasure down to the galley.
Treasure tuned to look back at Jack as she followed Mr. Gibbs to the galley. No matter how handsome she thought he was, she was determined that he was not going to get the upper hand with her. She could be very stubborn when she had to be.
‘I’ll show him Trouble,’ she said smiling to herself.
