Lost and found
Shit, shit, shit, shit, shit. Now what did she do? Smiling tentatively, Ash stepped back, "Sorry, I didn't see where I was going." and tried to get past. "Not so easy, little girl." Ash shivered, whether from hearing Gavin's nickname for her, or the blonde’s grip on her arm, she wasn't sure. "Look, I'm really sorry. It won't happen again. Ok, just leave me alone...please." He stared at her for a few minutes, “I’ll walk you back to your car or whatever” then began walking with her in the direction he’d come from. “No, seriously, it’s ok.” Ash tried to protest, but her verbal and physical denials were ignored as her companion pulled her along. The scary thing was, they ended back at her hotel, as if he’d known where she was staying all along, with no guidance from her. “How did you know where I was staying?” she asked fearfully, still trying unsuccessfully to get her arm free. “It’s the only place in town that people really stay at; it was an educated guess. What’s your name?” the nonchalant answer and question surprised Ash into answering “Ash.” Startled by her own admission and trying for bravery, she demanded, “What’s yours?” “David.” “Are you going to let me go now, David?” “For now.” Ash glared at her uninvited guest “What do you mean, ‘for now’?” “What does it sound like? If you’re going to be staying in Santa Cruz, I’ll be seeing you around. And you might want to stay out of dark alleys, especially when you’re by yourself. You never know what type of people you could run into.” And he left, making Ash even more confused as to his intentions on walking her home. Once inside her motel room, she locked everything as tight as she could, even placed a chair in front of the door. As she fell asleep, Ash found herself more worried about the dangers of Santa Cruz that the dangers of Gavin.
