CHAPTER 8
Treasure was taken back with Jack’s question. She certainly didn’t see that coming. Jack smiled waiting for an answer to his question.
“Close you mouth, luv,” Jack said finally flashing her a gold teeth smile.
Treasure carefully placed the bread down on the desk and rose to her feet.
“I have to get back to the galley. Cooper will wonder what happened to me and he’s needing my help with cleaning up,” Treasure said making her way to the door.
Jack stood up and placed his hands together in a mock prayer.
“Thank you for the dinner,” he said bowing to Treasure. “I shall be awaiting desert,” he added with sly grin.
Treasure backed out of the room and closed the door quickly before Jack could do or say anything else. She stood outside the door thinking about what he had just said and wondering if he meant what she thought he meant.
She wanted to be mad, she wanted to be upset about it, but instead she noted a grin making it’s way across her lips thinking about Captain Jack Sparrow.
Treasure sighed and headed back in the direction of the galley. As she reached the steps that would lead her down to her clean-up duty, she suddenly stopped and decided not to go back to the galley just yet. She turned on her heel and went up the steps to the deck.
It was just starting to get dark aboard the Black Pearl. A lovely full moon was making itself visible in the darkening sky. Treasure made her way to the helm where Gibbs was steering the ship looking very relaxed and smiling.
“Good evening Miss,” Gibbs said nodding his head to her.
“Good evening to you, Mr. Gibbs,” Treasure smiled back at him and asked, “Did you enjoy your dinner?”
“Aye lass,” he replied patting his stomach and smacking his lips. “Twas some of the best soup I’ve had in a long time.”
Treasure smiled a thank you to Mr. Gibbs.
“I think I’ll wander around here for a bit before I go down to help Cooper clean-up. Do you think that will be alright,” she asked.
“Aye, that be fine, just watch yerself lass. It don’t always be safe for a woman aboard a pirate ship if ye know what I mean.”
Treasure let Mr. Gibbs know she understood then turned and walked away.
She walked over to the side of the ship and peered down to the churning water below. She did love being at sea, in spite of her circumstances at the moment. She looked up into the sky. The sun had set and she could just see the stars peeking out from the velvet night as the sky grew darker. She stood watching for a while making her way toward the back of the ship.
She suddenly remembered the ship that had been following them earlier that day and wondered what had happened to it. She peered into the darkness behind the Black Pearl and decided that it must not have been following them after all or Jack would have done something. Whatever it was that a pirate Captain does in a case like that, she thought.
With her thoughts going back to Captain Jack, she stood there smiling to herself staring out into the black night.
As much as she hated to admit it, she was attracted to Jack. Those dark sultry eyes that seemed to be able to make her brain stop thinking whenever she looked at them. His wicked smile, never being able to quite tell if he was smiling at her or trying to conceal that he was laughing at her. And that drunken swagger in his walk. Did he drink that much, all the time? Was that real, or was that his way of letting people think he was not what he appeared to be? Leave it to me, Treasure thought, to be attracted to a pirate. Why did he have to be a pirate? Of all things for me to be interested in, a pirate!
Treasure shrugged her shoulders as a light cool breeze brought her back to reality. As she turned to head back the way she came, she caught a shadow move out of the corner of her eye.
“Is someone there”, she asked into the darkness. All was quiet except for the churning of the water far below her. Must be seeing things she thought to herself as she moved to the railing of the ship.
Quick as she turned, there was a large pirate standing over her. She had not seen this crewmember before and he startled her.
“Oh, excuse me,” Treasure said as politely as she could moving to step around him.
The big man glared at Treasure with a lusty grin on his face. He moved as she did, blocking her way.
Standing very close to her and towering over her, she could smell the dirt and sweat coming from his body. His scraggly beard was matted and filled with something Treasure didn’t even want to imagine what it could be. She looked up to his face and through the moonlight she could see rotten missing teeth and his eyes were sweeping up and down her body lustfully.
“What’s yer hurry,” he asked blocking her way once again. His voice sounded as menacing as he looked.
Panic began to fill her, but she willed herself to remain calm.
“Please excuse me,” she said politely, “I have to get back down to the galley.”
“Nah,” the pirate said pushing her back against the railing of the ship. Treasure tried to move away from him, but he put his big hands on her shoulders and pinned her body with his against the railing.
Forcing his body against hers, he leaned down and with an evil whisper in her ear he said, “ What say we gets better acquainted first”.
Treasure push at the man, but it was like trying to move a mountain.
“NO,” she exclaimed loudly pushing with all her might.
The pirate laughed and as he held her to the railing, his dirty lips began sucking on her neck. She could feel his lust growing as he pressed his body harder to hers. His lips moved up her neck and found her mouth. With the sickening taste of his mouth on hers and his hands started moving down her body stopping at her breasts, he squeezed the right one. Treasure gave a strong push and freed her mouth just long enough to let a sound escape her lips.
“Aaaaaaaaaaa,” she screamed with every ounce of strength she had. Her scream penetrated the quiet night.
“Shud up ya stupid bitch,” he yelled as Treasure felt his rough hand connect with the side of her face.
Dazed from the slap, she was met with another slap to the other side of her face. This one was harder than the last.
“Please let me go,” Treasure begged the man as he grabbed her other breast and squeezed.
The pirate replied by placing his hand on the top of her dress and with one mighty pull, tore her dress down the middle almost completely exposing her breasts.
Treasure tried to cover herself and the pirate laughed as he pushed her and she fell to the deck of the ship onto her knees. She glanced up just as another hard blow came down on her face. As she fell flat on the deck, she could taste her own blood.
The big man yanked on her dress and tore it the rest of the way off. Casting it aside he slowly moved toward her as she tried to crawl away from him. He lowered himself to the deck and pulled her under him. The weight of his body was pressing her into the deck. Treasure opened her eyes just in time to see a flash behind him.
“Mate,” a sudden voice spoke in the darkness. “Unless you wish to die in that position, I suggest you get up and release the young lady. NOW!”
Treasure looked and there standing with his sword drawn was Captain Jack.
“GIT UP,” he ordered the man lying on top of Treasure.
Slowly the pirate that had Treasure pinned down moved off of her and slowly began to get to his feet. Jack took the opportunity to use his boot to land a hard kick to the man’s ribs.
“GIT UP I said,” Jack ordered again.
The man got to his feet. He stood at least two heads taller than Jack, but Jack stood straight with the commanding presence and didn’t waver. Jack reached over and took the man’s sword and relived him of his gun. Then he pressed the flat edge of his sword to the man’s neck. Although it was dark, with the moonlight, Treasure could see the glare in the Captain’s eyes as he stood toe to toe with the man that had just attacked her.
“Take him down to the brig,” Jack ordered not moving from where his feet were planted on the deck.
Three other crewmembers grabbed the pirate and with swords on the ready lead him away.
Jack turned his attention to Treasure still lying on the deck of the ship. He sheathed his sword and removed his long black coat.
“Are you alright, luv”, Jack asked as he wrapped the coat around Treasure’s almost nude body. She pulled the coat closer to her and nodded her head in response.
Jack wrapped his arms around her and helped her to her feet holding tightly as she swayed and leaned against him for support. She looked up at Jack and the reality of what had just happened hit her. Tears began falling down her cheeks and try as she might, she couldn’t stop them. She leaned into Jack and he tightened his grip on her leading her back to his cabin.
“It’s alright, luv. Ole Jack will take care of ye.”
