Book 2
Chapter 9
As it happened, the grandest Hotel on the island, the Pink Hawaian, was totally booked. Some huge convention with a big company, all the rooms were taken, as well as half the convention halls, Chonie couldn’t believe it. So, she put her grandfather and Ralph up in the Presidential sweet of the hotel where she worked. Everyone there was surprised to see her back so soon. “You didn’t even call,” said the little whore, as Chonie had decided to call Sara, once she saw how the woman was dressed.
“I didn’t have time. I just got…carried away, so to speak,” she chuckled, looking to the two men as they too smiled. She then turned her attention back to Sara and her attire, or lack there of. “Sara, when did a white, mini dress become uniform or even permissible on the job?”
“Oh I’m not on the job right now,” she said proudly, “I’m on MY time, and I’ll dress how I like thank you very much. Besides,” and she glanced at the outer face of her cell phone, “I have to go. My date will be meeting me outside any minute. Bye.”
Chonie crossed her arms as her friend, who’d called to warn her about Sara, stepped up beside her. “Girl,” the dark skinned woman sighed, “she’s gona hop in your man’s truck in like three seconds once it stops. Does he know you’re back?”
“Unless he went by the apartment, no.”
They watched, as a Heeno’s Construction Company pickup truck pulled up, stopped, and Sara got in, then quickly sped away, with Sara quickly diving to the arms, or lap, of the male behind the wheel. Unfortunately, Chonie couldn’t see for sure who was driving the truck, to be sure who it really was. “Told ya,” the woman scoffed. “Come on honey, lets get you settled in. You can have the land lord change the locks on your door, and stay here with your grand daddy. Make Heeno think you came back with some rich surgar daddy or something. Come on.”
“Thanks for the call by the way,” she told the woman, as she put her arms around Chonie’s shoulders and lead her to the elevator. The woman’s name was Kelly. She was a black woman form the bronks of New York. She’d worked in housekeeping in one of the hotels in the big apple, and was transferred; at her repeated request, to the hotel in Hawiaii, when the head of housekeeping position opened up. She made sure she had the reputation of getting the job done right without any buddy buddy treatement of her subordinates when it came to slacking off, or slack work for that matter. That had impressed the company higher-ups, and Kelly uprooted her family and moved to the island. Since then she never looked back.
Chonie was impressed with her too, she was a tall woman, rather robust, but not fat. However, she couldn’t quite understand how the woman could function with thripple D sized breasts. Her chest seemed to be all one breast when she squeezed into her uniform, it was amazing that the woman didn’t pop off all the buttons with the force of a 45 calibar hand gun.
“Girl don’t worry about it,” Kelly replied, pressing the button for the presidential suite floor. “Soon as I saw that little hussy pushin in on your property, I knew I had to let you know. Sorry I left such a curt message on your grand daddy’s machine though, hope he didn’t mind.”
“No, he was surprised. I’d been there all that time, and until you called, I never told him about Heeno.”
“WHAT!? You was there two months! What was going on?”
“My grand father’s friend had some health issues, and he himself was having some financial trouble. They wouldn’t talk about any of it, so I had to sneak around, and poke my nose in his private papers. Oh, Kelly, Grandfather was in a real mess. Until he sold his property, he wasn’t going to have enough money to last another three months. How can that have happened? How could I come back here, and get married, knowing grandfather was destitute?”
“Oh baby, that’s bad. But he’s ok now right?”
“For a while. He’s planning to go back to the old country. But he wanted to enjoy a few days here before he goes.”
“Well enjoy it he will. You know, if he decides to stay, I can turn him to my financial guy. He can help him invest that money proper like so he can live off the interest. You want his number?”
“Sure, but I doubt he’ll change his mind.”
“He changed his mind about selling his house, didn’t he?”
“That wasn’t a choice. But I’ll get the number all the same, maybe…maybe he will change his mind.”
The door opened to the suite’s main doors, and Kelly stepped up and slid her pass card downt he slot. “I’ll get his card. I keep one in my wallet.” Kelly opened the door to find Chonie’s grandfather rushing all around the room, searching through the pockets of his blazer and Ralph’s blazer. Ralph was on the bed, clutching his chest and breathing heavily. “Oh god, he’s gona die!” and Kelly went to the phone to call for help.
“Here it is!” Ro proclaimed, and rushed back to his friend and sprayed the medicinal mist in his face. Ralph took several deep breaths before he finally calmed dwon. “There. Now don’t go getting all worked up again.”
“It’s ok Kelly, he’s fine. Grand father what happened?”
“They…” Ralph began, taking a deep breath and pointing to the menue on the bed. “They have…El’s favorite…dish, on the menue. She’ll be here soon, we can all have dinner together.”
Kelly brought a cold washcloth, and laid it across the large man’s head. “I don’t think she’ll be able to join us,” she reminded Ralph gently. “She’s pregnant you know, and…they may not want her moving around so much.”
“How pregnant is she?” Kelly asked.
“Very, from what I hear.”
“And she’s flying!? That girl want to pop that kid out at thirty three thousand feet or something? What’s she doing traveling?”
“I’ve no idea,” Chonie replied. “Look, I’m tired, and I know you two are tired, why don’t we all just get some sleep.”
“Sounds like good medicine to me,” Kelly advised. “Especially you white boy, and I don’t mean that in a racist way either. You’re so pale right now, you’d scare the shit out of Casper. Come on, I’ll even tuck you in.”
“Just don’t break his ribs this time,” Chonie chided, as Ralph smiled at the dark woman.
“Girl I keep telling you, my hubby’s ribs was already broke in a bar fight. He just didn’t tell me.”
The group tried not to laugh, but it was rather humorous. After they were settled, Kelly left, but Chonie still couldn’t sleep. She went out on the balcony, and looked out over the water. She worked here for six years, and never took the time to stay in one of the rooms, she never even took a moment to look out over the water from any of the rooms, though she’d repeatedly told her guests the views were magnificent.
But even with the beautiful view of the moonlit water in front of her, she couldn’t get her mind free of the events of the afternoon, nor Kelly’s warning words on her grandfather’s answering machine. Again and again she played the scene over in her mind. The Heeno truck pulling up, but unable to see the driver, Sara getting in the truck, and what she did as the truck pulled away. How could any guy concentrate on driving, with a girl sucking on him at the same time. She gave her head a shake, trying to rid the mage of Heeno driving with Sara’s head bobbing up and down in his lap, but it didn’t help.
After a time she went back inside, sat down and turned on the TV. The news, well it was all that was on right now, so may as well catch up on things that happened while she was gone.
Three car accidents tied up traffic; well that wasn’t unusual, a bank robbery, several spoiled drug deals; dozens of arrests by the police in that one, and missing persons; another four women had gone missing from her neighbourhood, one was her neighbour. Chonie put her hand over her mouth to stifle her gasp. She didn’t know the woman that well, they just chatted on the elevator from time to time. How in the world could she go missing? She hardly ever went anywhere alone.
Chonie pulled the blanket closer around her shoulders. She was glad that she never went anywhere at night. After a time, she fell asleep, the TV still on, and the balcony door open.
Gently on the incoming breeze, a strong figure, made invisible through a technology not known to humans, strode into the room. After a brief survey, the entity centered its attention on Chonie, and proceeded to the sofa area. There the creature sat on the floor beside her, deeply scanning her body, committing every curve, every imperfection, to memory, for this female would one day be his mate.
Gently he purred, and she smiled.
Hours later she woke to gentle chuckles, and opened her eyes. But what she saw really startled her. “AH!!” Realizing that the wavy distorted figure was watching her, she reached out. It purred. “Oh shit!” she sighed.
Just then a muffin bounced off her brow, and landed in the lap of the shielded creature. “Language!” her grandfather shouted.
“Sorry. But its…HIM!” she pointed to the distorted image of the morning news, the only thing that would let you know something was hiding in plain sight. “He scared the crap out of me!”
“Tan’ock?” Ro asked, as Tan’ock grunted in acknowledgement of his name. “He’s been here all night. Thought you knew that?”
“No,” she threw the blanket off, and got up, straightening her shirt and shorts as she went. “I went to sleep and he wasn’t there. Grandfather WHAT are you eating?”
“Fried Eggs. Why?”
“Fried ANYTHING gives you heartburn!”
“Well I guess that its good that I had them bring a bottle of pepto, now isn’t it?”
“Grandfather, just because you’re…” she looked around “leaving the planet,” she continued a bit quieter, “doesn’t mean that you can start to NOT take care of yourself.”
“Chonie, I appreciate your concern. Tan’ock told us this morning that we’ll be leaving in a few days, so I wanted to have a celebratory good bye breakfast now, in case there isn’t time for it later. Today, I am taking Ralph and you shopping for new clothes.”
“Why?”
“Well, Tan’ock was saying how the artisans on their ship do not make our kind of clothes for males. They only make the cloths, and the armor. Well Ralph and I won’t be fighting like they do, so we won’t need those things. And our current clothes are not that great.”
“So, our clothes that we have will be donated to a men’s shelter here, and we’ll have new clothes to go with us, that will last longer,” Ralph stated proudly, once more checking his shrunken waist line. “Do you think El will recognize me?”
“I think she’ll remember your charming smile.”
“Oh good.”
“Would you listen to you two!” Chonie screeched. “It’s like you’re planning a trip to the grand canyon or something. You are leaving this planet! Never to return! I’ll never see you again!” as her tears began to fall, Tan’ock came up behind her, and purred, gently rubbing her arms.
“You don’t have to remain behind you know,” he whispered gently. Chonie looked in the direction of the wavy image. “You could come with us, if you choose to.”
“I choose not to!” she snapped, and looked up with the others at the knocking at the door. Ralph opened it.
“WHERE IS SHE!!” the man asked, or rather bellowed. “CHONIE!!”
“Heeno? What are you doing here?”
“I came to get you. What the hell are you doing!? We’re getting married in three days, and you’re held up here in a hotel with…THAT!?”
“Excuse me?” This was the most emotion that he’d shown her about anything that she did.
“Get your shoes, let’s go. I’ll forget all about this little tryst. We’ll get married and there will be no more said about it.”
“Wait a second. Just WHAT do you think is going on here?”
“Chonie, you know what is going on, just as I do. I knew that Asian women had a thing for older men, something about the age and wisdom and such, but still. He’s old enough to be your grandfather, and this guy, he’s fat enough to flatten you! Now get your gear and let’s go.”
“He IS my grandfather you moron!!” The man just stood there, his jet black hair hanging straight around his head, after flying around him as he ranted about what he THOUGHT was happening. If you ever saw a deer in your headlights, that was the look that Heeno had right now. “And that man, is Ralph, my grand father’s friend. HOW DARE YOU COME CHARGING IN HERE! Accusing me of fooling around with another man, or men, when I saw Sara climb in your truck yesterday, and dive straight to your lap as you drove away! Try and explain that one!!!”
“Who the hell is Sara?!”
“The one that was all over you while I was away. Kelly told me all about it. She was right there with me watching Sara as you drove away.”
“Chonie, I was in Maui last night. I had one of the guys pick me up at the hello pad this morning. That’s when they told me they saw you check in two guys here at the hotel. I haven’t even been home yet!”
“You mean to the apartment, WHERE YOU LEFT THE FRIDGE BARE!”
“Oh come on!!”
“Heeno, look, this got off to the totally wrong start today. Go home, and I mean YOUR HOME, come back more civilized, after you’ve slept off whatever buzz you’ve got right now!”
“Chonie…”
“Young man, she’s right.” Ralph stated, rather not so politely grabbing the scruff of his shirt. “Get out of our room. The next time you show up like this, I’m calling security. You can explain to them your behavior.” As Ralph thrust the man out and shut the door, he turned to Chonie. “I don’t like him.”
“Nor do I,” Ro stated. “Chonie, I do not want you to marry him.”
Chonie just shook her head and went to the bathroom.
“Tan’ock, what’s your opinion?” Ralph asked, but there was no response. “Tan’ock?”
Tan’ock had slipped out the door when Ralph tossed out the irate male. It was all he could do not to roar at the male to show his own fury over the insults that he was throwing around. As much as he had tried to persuade Chonie to his heart, she remained bound to this male. His actions now only served to give Chonie more ground to doubt her choice. But he wanted to know for certain what this male was all about.
The elevator doors opened, and the two stepped on board. The Heeno male pressed one of the lower buttons, and the lift moved down. A few moments later the doors opened, but it wasn’t to the main lobby level, instead it was one of the lower vehicle storage areas.
Heeno stepped off, and rounded a corner, there he climbed in his truck, where another man waited. “Well?” asked the other man.
“She’s not alone.”
“Told you.”
“She’s with her grandfather and his friend.”
“Oh fuck. So now what?”
“Well, I fucked things up real good, so I’ll just have to apologize to her later. I’ll take her out to a nice dinner, get her relaxed, then do it.”
“Ok. Remember, we need her. The client isn’t going to wait forever.”
“Why the fuck does he want her anyway? She’s as ugly as sin.”
“This from Heeno?” the man laughed.
“Fuck you. How’s the other one? Sara, that’s what Chonie called her.”
“Sleeping like a baby.”
“Good. Chonie saw you pick her up in the company truck yesterday. She thought it was me. She also thought that when she went down, she was going down to give ‘me’ a blow job.”
The other man laughed. “Fuck no! Though she’s good, but that bitch nearly sucked my balls out through my dick. FUCK!”
“Really? I’ll need to try that before she leaves.”
“Well let’s get going. Some of the others will be waking up soon, and they’ll need to be fed.”
“I’ll make the plans later for Chonie. Man, if I have to keep making goo goo eyes at her any longer, I’m gona fuckin’ puke.”
Tan’ock watched the truck pull away, then made his way out of the structure, to climb back to the top of the hotel, as he’d done the night before. But when he stepped away from the stone wall, there were huge scrapings in the concrete wall, as though some great beast had slashed at something; and deeper holes in the concrete floor where he had stood.
Tan’ock had not felt this kind of rage in many years, he knew it would frighten Chonie should she see him like this, but he did enjoy the feeling of pure raw power flooding his body. He was alive. He was protective, of the female he wanted. But most of all, HE WANTED BLOOD!
At the top of the building, Tan stalked by the two young bloods, hissing to no one in particular. His body flexed with every movement, his feet turned up toe rooftop gravel with each step. The two younger hunters kept low to the roof, their posture telling the enraged male they were not a threat, but still, once in a while he would growl at them, when he caught sight of them.
After about an hour, he calmed down, though his breathing was still faster than normal, his temper had reined in dramatically. Still looking out over the city, he addressed the young bloods. “I will take Ver’On’s wrath, but I have a hunt for the two of you to take part in.” The pair grunted in anticipation, and moved up beside him. Had they been uncloaked, their difference in height to him would have been dramatically noticed. Tan’ock pointed to the ground, where below was another truck, like the one the Heeno male drove away in. “Follow those Oomans, there are two in their group who are taking females prisoner. Find out where and who else is involved. Report back to me. We will finish the hunt together.” The pair nodded and scaled down the building. Tan’ock watched carefully as the two hid in the large trees around the grounds.
After securing a tracking device to the vehicle the males were using, a smaller male drove off in the truck, one of the young bloods followed, climbing into the back when it stopped to make a turn onto the main through fare. Satisfied the young hunters would follow his instructions, he returned to the temporary quarters of his female, only to find it empty. Not even Ralph and Ro were there. He cloaked just in time as a female emerged from the lav, and proceeded to continue straightening the room. Leaving her to her work, he scaled down the building, consulted his gauntlet, and found the direction Chonie had gone and headed off to follow. He would have to have words with the two males about leaving the room without his knowledge.
About an hour and a half later he found Chonie, Ro and Ralph on a main street. Each was carrying a bag of clothing, but had stopped to talk to a tall male in black, with long blondish hair. They seemed quite at ease around this male, and a few of his companions, despite their dark attire, thick vests, and cans of spray chemicals at their sides. Then, with shaken hands, the new male and his group bid farewell to Ralph and Ro, a yonder black clad male giving Chonie a gentle kiss on her cheek, before they all climbed into white truck like vehicles and drove away.
Tan’ock wasn’t impressed in the least with the younger one. No male, not even among his own kind, had the right to press their lips, or mandibles, to a female that wasn’t theirs. Though the action didn’t warrant his death, Tan’ock did aim a mild laser pulse at one of the black rubber tires of the young male’s vehicle, a satisfying pop, and the vehicle lurched to a halt, the inconvenience of a flat tire was sufficient. He grunted pleasantly to himself, then quietly followed Chonie and the others as they continued on their shopping spree.
The three went into shop after shop, each time coming out with more and more packages. They then noticed a building where they headed straight to. There were dozens of people around it, all dressed shabbily, compared to the rest of the pedestrians. Ro handed his bags to Chonie and Ralph and headed inside, leaving the two to sit at a table. Several males came over to them, but seemed only to be a nuisance, before Chonie looked at him, and yelled, “Get lost!” He seemed quite pleased with her tone, as the male walked away, and Chonie pressed her hand to her brow, her elbow resting on her knee. Ralph tried to console her, but it didn’t seem to help.
“Well,” Ralph laughed, “That Dog fellow was quite the nice man. I hope he keeps doing what he’s doing. Ro, over there.”
“That’s it,” Ro stated excitedly. “According to The Dog, we can ask the people that run this shelter where we can send our old clothes.”
“It looks a bit crowded in there,” Ralph stated.
“I agree. Here,” he handed Ralph and Chonie his bags. “You two stay out here, and I’ll go in. it was my idea, so may as well be me that finds out what to do.”
“Ok.” Ralph and Chonie sat down at one of the tables to wait.
“My feet are killing me,” she sighed. “How are you doing?”
“Oh, I’m fine.”
“Say buddy, you spare a couple bucks?” Ralph looked at the tall man that had asked them for money. His clothes were filthy, and he reeked of alcohol. Ralph just shook his head, and noticed several others around them getting ready to ask for money when this one stepped away, if he was given any. “Come on man, just a couple bucks. Looks like you can spare a couple for a guy to get a bite to eat.”
“You won’t use it for food,” Ralph stated sadly. “Otherwise you wouldn’t be here.”
“Come on man, just two bucks.”
“Get Lost!” Chonie screeched, and the man walked away. “God I hate it when people beg.”
“Chonie, are you ok?”
“No! I’m not!” she nearly cried, “You’re taking my grandfather away, I’ll never see him again. How do you think I’m supposed to feel about that?”
Ralph put his arm around her shoulders. “Chonie, I’m not taking him anywhere. If he wanted to remain here, then I would have bid him a fond farewell, and gone on my own. I’m the one that is leaving. He’s made his choice to follow.”
“Then tell him to stay!”
“I can’t do that…any more than you can honestly say that you love Heeno enough to marry him, and spend the rest of your life with him.”
“What is it with you and Heeno?! I know he has his faults, but come off it! I do love him.”
Ralph raised his brow to her words. Accept for the last four words of her statement, it was full of emotion, passion, and a need to convince him. But the last part, that was bland, like asking for a pair of socks. “Are you sure about that? You don’t sound like it.”
“Ralph, please. He’s the only guy who’s ever made the first move on me. He paid attention to ME for a change, instead of me chasing after him. That says something. He sees something in me that no one else has, and maybe, no one else will.”
“Chonie!” The two looked up to see a young man, with dark hair and rather handsome appearance, jog up to them. “God I’m glad I found you.”
“Hey Brian, what’s wrong? You look a wreck.”
“Sara didn’t come home last night,” he said. “Do you know where she went?”
“No, but I think I can tell you with who. Oh, Brian, this is Ralph, a friend of my grandfather’s, Ralph this is Brian Foldz, Sara’s brother.”
“How do you do. Your sister missing. God I hope she’s just asleep with her fellow. She seemed dressed for a good time last night.”
“What do you mean?”
“Brain,” Chonie continued. “Sara went on a date last night, straight from the hotel. She went out with one of the guys from Heeno Construction and Landscaping. I can’t tell you for sure who, but according to Heeno, it wasn’t him.”
“You sure?”
“Yeah, he said he only flew in this morning, but you can try some of his crew. They’re at the hotel finishing the new flower garden out front.”
“Thanks. What was she wearing?”
“Well, a white mini dress, with spaghetti straps, and white three inch heels. She was carrying a red perse, big enough to hold a change of clothes. I guess she was planning on staying out all night.”
“Not without calling me. She asked me to look after her two kids. I don’t mind, but she ALWAYS calls when she’s going to be out all night. She never did. And she never called today to talk to the kids before they were off to school.”
“She’s working today, she may already be at the hotel. Can’t believe I forgot that.”
“Hey, thanks. You’ve been a big help. I gotta go.”
“Hope you find her ok,” Ralph offered, waving to the man as he ran away, then turned to Ro as he came up to them from the building. “Well, how’d it go?”
“They won’t take the clothes here, nor will they come for them, but I did get the name and number of a company that takes in used clothing to help under privileged families. I’ll call them when we get back. What was that all about?”
“Seems Sara had a good time last night.” Chonie remarked, handing Ro his bags again. “She didn’t follow her usual pattern with her brother, and now he’s all worried. He’s really gona let her have it when he gets to her.”
“Poor dear. Well, let’s go. I want to buy you a nice dress Chonie, maybe a few.”
“Grandfather.”
“Consider it, my wedding present, to you and the one you will be paired with.”
“You make it sound like I’m going to take up HIS offer.”
“Tan’ock? What did he offer?”
“He said I didn’t have to stay behind.”
“True, but remember,” her grandfather offered, patting herhand. “That choice…is entirely up to you.”
“That I’d actually give up everything I have here, to go with you! And HIM!”
“He has a name Chonie, and it would please him to no end that you would use it.”
“Not a chance!” They watched her walk away, a familiar wavy air disturbance following her.
Ralph sighed. “He really likes her.”
“Yes. But I’m not sure why. If he wants her, he must prove to me, that loves her, and that he can protect her. Following her around is not enough.”
“He’ll prove himself, not to worry. Come on, I hear there’s a sale of grass skirts in the next block.”
“You’d actually wear one of those?”
“You never know,” he laughed, hefting his pants up again. “I may be the first FABIO type guy in space. Maybe get me a nice little Martian girl too.”
At that Ro laughed, pushing his friend around the corner, after Chonie.
