Streets of Tortuga - Prologue

Title: Streets of Tortuga.
Or: Rum Rum Rum, as fast as you can.

- The title could be changed anytime. This prologue is just a preview, really. I think I know what I'm up to - but I've thought that before, when havin' drunk too much. No, I'm not drunk, really! *hick*
Anyways, I'll have to see where my story is going - really, I don't know much more than you about the possible outcome(s), mates!
Genre: so far: Action(?). Later on I'll integrate some romance. Yay, that DOES mean smut! ;)
Pairing: J/OC
Rating: PG13 for the Prologue. But fasten seatbelts for some much heavier stuff later on...
Summary: Jack bumps (if you can call it like that *giggles*) into a girl with an unpronouncable name, a little pirate-wannabe with a headache: Sijtje.
Setting: Tortuga (well, at least that's where it all starts. As allways.). Some 15 years before the movie, Jack being young but Captain of The Pearl already.
Notes: Sijtje is - indeed - a Dutch name. Please don't let me write down how to pronounce it - I can't! Meet me in person and I'll tell you.
Disclaimer: Don't own Jack. Otherwise he'd be in my bed, not in the streets of Tortuga! Sadly, he's from Duckburg.
Not makin' any money with this - more like losin' it by watching the movie over and over again. Dont sue - just givin' Jack a li'll sexual excercise, what could be wrong with that?
Feedback: yes, PLEASE. But easy on the goods darlin'!

- Update 04/01/2005 - believe it or not, I'm back! A little older, a little fatter and a little more battered than before - but I WILL update. Up to now I've only made some (small) changes to existing chapters, but a new one will be up soon. Read & Review, if there's anyone left to the fandom, please!

Prologue - Headache?

-

Sijtje woke up with the heaviest headache she had ever felt. Or at least, so she said to herself - after all, being a pirate was basically being good at lying to oneself. And being a pirate was what her life was all about, right?
"Blast that rum!" She said aloud, finally opening her eyes, not remembering anything safe for that stupid pirate's drink.
"I know exactly what you mean, luv", a voice said. "The trick is never to stop drinking."
Glaring against bright sunlight (sunlight? where was she?) she saw the shadow of a man. Because of the weird angle of the sun she couldn't see his face, only an outline. Hair. Very much of it. Black. A hat, looking old and battered. An arm, extended to her to help her up. A tattoo of some sort of a bird, beneath that the common sign for pirates caught by the Dutch, English and Spanish Trading Companies alike - perhaps the only thing they had ever and would ever agree upon. A capitle P, branded into the Skin with hot irons, like the owner of it was a peace of cattle. In fact, the trading companies looked upon pirates as being far worse than just harmless cattle.

So he was a pirate? And one who survived a meeting with a trading company on top of that?
"Interesting", she mumbled, jumping to her feet, completely ignoring his outstretched hand.

Finally, she gave her surroundings a first look, blinking against the much too bright morning sun. A street? No, she definitely didn't know what had brought her to spending the night in a shabby little street, not even knowing what day or town this was. Ignoring her rum-caused amnesia, she turned to the only interesting object visible: the pirate.

Jack Sparrow looked down rather sheepishly onto his still outstretched hand. He hated being caught not knowing what to do, so he quickly changed his surprised looks into a brilliant grin, gold teeth flashing, and used the arm to take off his hat, meanwhile bowing ironically for the lass in front of him.
Sijtje returned the smile, unsure of herself. A man lining his eyes with kohl, wearing trinkets in his hair and having gold teeth despite his young age, obviously making fun of her?
Well, if he *was* a pirate, there was nothing wrong with that: being one usually meant being mad by definition.

"Take me with you!", she said.
"What?". Damn. She had caught him by surprise again. "Easy darlin', would you mind telling me, where I should take you, what you are doing here and who you are first?"

"Sijtje.", she said.
"Huh?" (oh no, not again. She really was good at saying anything he didn't expect!)
"T's m's my name. Sijtje. It's Dutch. And I don't care where you're headed - I just wanna get out of here, wherever here is." Slowly, her memory started coming back and she surely did not like what she remembered.
"So, Saidshe" - "Sijtje!" - "Whatever. Here would be Tortuga. Where else could you lose all memory of a whole night, only remembering some blurred images of rum, men and fights, wakin' up in a small street instead of in a cell waitin' for 'a short drop and a sudden stop'?"
"Tortuga?" - "Aye, Tortuga." - "But how d'ya know of the rum, the men and the fights? I can't even remember myself, so how do you know about it?"
"Dear girl, you told me about the rum yourself, the men and the fights weren't too bad to guess. Just take a look at yourself."

Reluctantly, she did.
"O my God."
- "I don't think HE had anything to do with that, lass."

To be continued.
This is my first fanfiction ever, so please, please, R & R - but be easy on the goods, darlings!
And remember: english is not my native language, so I'm really glad about any suggestions about my writing, especially regarding mistakes & stuff, ok? ;)

I know this is rather a preview than the beginning of a story. Tomorrow I'll start writing for real, going back in the story's timeline one day, explaining some stuff, I promise.
If I get some feedback, I'll keep on writing. Deal?
